"This is what you would call a public nervous breakdown," said Matthew Bartlett, a GOP strategist and former Trump administration appointee. "This is a guy who cut through the Republican primary like a knife through butter. This is a guy who pummeled a semi-conscious president in a debate and literally out of a race. And now this is a guy who cannot come to grips with a competitive presidential race that would require discipline and effective messaging. And we're seeing a candidate and a campaign absolutely melt down."

Someone should file a mandatory mental competency exam for Trump.

In most states, he'd be required to be held for 72 hours observation to determine his mental state.

He's obviously mentally ill.

"Someone should file a mandatory mental competency exam for Trump."

So true ... he is a danger to himself and others and is threatening revenge and retribution for being held accountable for his crimes and for imagined slights that the voices in his head keep yelling at him about.

I should have used the term "mental competency petition."

By law, there is typically a mandatory psych exam, often requiring two psychiatrists participate in the exam and report.

Trump has been bragging for months that his supporters include Hannibal Lecter. That right there is grounds to have him committed.

"During the 90-minute live stream, Trump also suggested Venezuela will soon move "all of their criminals into the US," said Kanye West is "a really nice guy, but he can get himself into trouble," compared Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to Eva Pern and listened to Elvis in a Tesla Cyber Truck adorned with a picture of the former president.

"I think we are long past the time where we thought he could maybe rein in his worst angels and he's going to keep doing this and no amount of polling data or advice from people close to him will change him,"

- said Barrett Marson, an Arizona-based Republican strategist.

"He's a 78-year-old guy stuck in his ways. And this has been his way for decades."

The JAG lawyer formula used by Tom Cruise's character in the classic movie "A Few Good Men" (www.youtube.com) is awaiting D.J. Tchump. Except, Trump will never be as articulate or concerned about others as Jack Nicholson's character was. Trump will none-the-less flip out when on the stand vs. an experienced prosecutor like Kamala Harris and when bumping up against the sane, intelligent, but folksy humor of former Command Master Sergeant Tim Walz. What will the GOP and its gazillionaire donors do when their candidate for the next Reich falls to pieces under the pressure?

I mean, other than the predictable liberal slant using extreme words to describe something that will vanish in a week's time, the point is valid. The question she asked Trump was an attack and it came off as an attack, but the question is one in which Trump should already have a cookie-cutter answer for if nothing else. He failed miserably at a topic he should have an automatic answer for.

"Trump will none-the-less flip out when on the stand vs. an experienced prosecutor like Kamala Harris and when bumping up against the sane, intelligent, but folksy humor of former Command Master Sergeant Tim Walz. So, so, so, so pathetic when people herald someone just because they don't like someone else. Harris is an experienced prosecutor? Wtf is that garbage? Just because you don't like Trump doesn't mean anyone who doesn't like him is all of a sudden the second coming of Jesus. She is very inexperienced and not fit for the job by any means. To a Dem, they automatically think "Trump sucks!!!!!!!!!" just because he is on the other side. No, they immediately try to make the people on their side look like the best politicians ever in the history of ever.

It's OK, you can use reality to form your opinions. If someone isn't a good fit, it doesn't matter what the other side has available. Work on getting people who ARE fit for the job, don't just let the lowest common denominator pass muster just because you don't like who they are running against.

Btw, that's one reason I don't like Trump. He set the bar so low for any leadership that Reps are treating his antics as commonplace. Dems are now just trying to one-up him and make their own party run by inexperienced, not fit for the job politicians.

Has fmr Pres Trump attended a rally recently?

All I've seen was Sen Vance at a rally in Wisconsin, no fmr Pres Trump.

They're easing him back into campaigning by keeping him only in very Trump-friendly places.
Next rally is in Montana.
He may be up to one a week soon if all goes well.

@#20 ... Next rally is in Montana. ...

Oh, this one in Butte?

Trump's Bozeman rally highlights unpaid costs from past Montana visits
www.nbcmontana.com

... Donald Trump makes a campaign stop in Bozeman Friday night, headlining a rally at Montana State University's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. But a visit from the former president comes with a cost.

Around the country, reports claim his campaign rarely pays invoices to local government for the increased police presence, security and other costs that come with hosting the event. Some places in Montana are still expecting payment.

Back in 2018, Trump visited Montana four times, holding rallies in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula.

Officials with Missoula County confirmed and sent NBC Montana the invoice showing $12,922.82 is still owed. That breaks down to $10,835.41 for officer salaries, $1,059.26 for dispatcher salaries, $693.72 for Office of Emergency Management and $334.43 for miscellaneous expenses. ...

Echoing similar thoughts from a similar blog:

In the Trump-Biden debate it was clearto anyone listening to Trump that his talking points were BS on everything, and his grasp of facts horrible. That was overshadowed by how shocking Biden's low energy was and by his early bout of confusion.

Trump's acceptance speech at the GOP Convention went OK for maybe 15 minutes but continued as a self-absorbed stream of consciousness another 60 minutes completely invalidating everything said in thep initial 15 minutes.

Now, look at Trump's recent incoherent ramblings on social media and in campaign rallies. There's no "there" there in any of them. It's the same thing all the time: a salad mix of rants and insults and self-congratulation and BS promises with no boundaries or concerns for facts and real data.

Perhaps smart GOP senators should convince Trump to step aside for the good of the Republican party?

AUGUSTINE

If Trump is still bilking his campaign to pay his legal bills, money for the final sprint in October could be a little tight ~ especially now that the donations aren't exactly up to par since Biden pulled the rug out from under Trump.

Or it could be that Trump is scared of another assassinate attempt and wants to limit his exposure ~ preferring to send J.D. Vance out instead.

Or, my favorite . . .

Trump is relying on his scheme to control the certification of Harris at both the county and district level in swing state that Harris wins. In other words, no more fake electors. Trump is going straight to the source. One state (Georgia) has already agreed to the scam. If a state fails to certify they could 1) forfeit their electoral vote or 2) show cause in court and be forced to certify in accordance with the election rules in the state. Trump is also trying to get election officials in swing states to change those rules to favor him. The State of Georgia already has even though the change is in direct conflict with the State Election rules. That's going to turn in a big fight.

Trump is not leaving any stone unturned this time. He's going straight for the jugular.

EARTHMUSE

"He [Trump} looks like he 85 years old."

He has packed on a few pounds. His face is getting fatter and his pig eyes are getting smaller.

It's all that comfort food Trump eats, day and night, to convince himself that he's still a savvy genius.
