As if those in the agriculture industry don't have enough frustrations, wild pigs are making life harder for farmers throughout the South and other parts of the nation by causing excessive crop loss, inflicting death and spreading disease.

More from the article...

... With no natural predators that will control them, the non-native wild pigs can weigh up to 300 to 400 pounds, and they uproot plants, eat newly planted seeds and trample crops.

Farms and ranches are ideal locations for wild pigs to live and reproduce, Texas Farm Bureau communications director Gary Joiner told UPI.

The feral swine need water, cover and a food source, all of which they often find on or near farms and some other choice locations, Joiner said.

"It's not just farms and ranches," Joiner said. "It's golf courses, residential neighborhoods, cemeteries -- any plots of land are vulnerable to feral hogs when those animals are present."

Farms and ranches are especially vulnerable, and about half of the nation's feral hogs live in Texas. ...

" about half of the nation's feral hogs live in Texas."

And that's just the State Legislature!

They don't have guns? Are there feral hogs in Chicago?

Tell us something new. The article is a rehash of very old news.

But they're good eats.

This has been an ongoing problem for years. In most states one doesn't even need a license to hunt and shoot them. It's no different than aggressively fishing snakeheads in Florida.

How is it that "Pig Huntin" has not been commercialized?

Seems like $100 a day fee in a pig infested range might be attractive to a certain sector of the population.

The pigs could then be immediately taken to a processing point, butchered then fast frozen and delivered to the hunter for his freezer, or, delivered to a food distribution center to be made available to food pantries.

When ya get free wild pigs running amok, make Baby back Ribs, and Bacon.

Where are the Capitalists?

The meat is tough. It's not particularly sporting "hunting" either.

There's no money in trying to get dumbasses to PAY to kill vermin.

A bounty on them would be far more effective.

But it is a situation for many to actually use their AR-15s.

Pigs and Pythons should both have bounties or at least be able to process them for dog meat.

Wut?

It is commercialized.
You've slightly underpriced it but not by much, it attracts hunters.
There's already processing centers that do both of those things.
Wild pigs don't have bacon nor particularly good rib sections. Assuming it's not worm infested, there's a couple backstraps worth salvaging and that's about it.

You can't kill them fast enough to make a dent. You have to trap them in numbers, then execute them 1 by 1 with a pistol while they're caught in the trap, or herd them into a gas chamber and "inert them with nitrogen".

Apparently Pythons are loaded with Mercury. I haven't looked into how loaded but even Florida is saying don't eat them and that says something.

I don't know any hunters that are actually "sporting" they are either their to kill for meat, trophies or thrills. Sometimes all 3 but almost exclusively the last 2.

As opposed to the Down Syndrome midget porn you have downloaded on all of your devices.

Look at Jeff being ableist and anti-short people

You should try it sometime. It might make u less of a dick
Btw what is the best part of the animal murder porn for you? The exploded bodies the squeals of the dying or the overall vibe of killing the innocent?

What gets your teeny tiny ------ the furthest from limp u can get?

Ableist and anti short people? That would be you

As for hearing pigs squeal after being shot? In the videos I've seen distance and the cacophony of the helicopter drowned out any noises or graphic up-close visuals.

You know what other animal people hunt in a regulated environment? Deer. Why? Because in certain areas of the country with a lack of predator animals portions of the herds would slowly perish during winter and culling the herd in the fall is far more humane. Apparently this basic understanding of ecology is beyond your capability. With feral pigs the situation is far worse. They are causing tremendous damage and they reproduce at a torrid pace. Again, your PETA understanding of these things is pathetic.

I think it was Goatman that used to tell us of his Texas wild pig barbecues.

Its the one thing he talked about that I actually enjoyed hearing.

I have never had wild pig and it made me want to try it.

Last summer I was on the highway up by Lake Sam Rayburn and I noticed a truck up the road on my side but it was facing me and there was something in front of it he was taking pics. It was a feral hog about 400 pounds I imagine. He hit it and it spun his truck around and off the side of the road. The hog beat all the pretty off that truck.
