The Global Engagement Center, an office housed within the State Department and aiming to thwart disinformation and misinformation, has been forced by Congress to close up shop. It's no mystery why; the taxpayer-backed GEC violated its mandate to work only overseas and devolved into a partisan enabler of speech suppression in the United States. Here's how. ...

Screw Obama.

He despises the country he was selected to lead and implemented policies that were so bad that a conman was twice elected (dementia Biden was his third term) to replace him.

I won't go so far to say he's become irrelevant. But his influence is waning and I hope that he knows it and that it thoroughly pisses him off

"US nerve center to combat China and Russia global propaganda shut down by GOP opposition

' The State Department's Global Engagement Center, the highly touted nerve center for coordinating U.S. efforts to counter foreign disinformation " especially by Russia and China " shut down this week after becoming a lightning rod for conservative criticism.

The mission of the GEC, as it is commonly known, was to "direct, lead, synchronize, integrate, and coordinate" the U.S. campaign against propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining or influencing the policies, security and stability of the U.S. and its allies.

But the GEC, with a relatively tiny $60 million budget and staff of 120, was first criticized in 2023 by Elon Musk, the multibillionaire advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, as the "worst offender in U.S. government."

Of course, Vlad and Xi appreciate the US Oligarchs support of their disinformation, propaganda, and election interference in the US.

Screw you and the hateful horse you rode in on. Obama is not even close to irrelevant.

GW Bush is the definition of "irrelevant ".

Obama is still the beating heart and still one of the most influential people in the Democratic Party.

If he could run for president today he would win in a landslide.

And THAT is what pisses off maga maroons like you.

Funny how Trumpers are calling election interference by foreign powers 'Censorship' now.

Of course, they don't seem too concerned about Censoring women or gays or anyone else they don't like.

In MAGA world,

Preventing Russia from spreading propaganda to Americans is censorship!

While at the same time,

Shutting down libraries and banning books is protecting Americans!

Just ask BullBringer.

the U.S. campaign against propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining or influencing the policies, security and stability of the U.S. and its allies.

Can anyone define "propaganda" and "disinformation"?

Couldn't this be defined as any "assertion" which is "undermining or influencing the policies, "security" and "stability" of the U.S.(government) and its allies"

Seems like Americans dodged a bullet.

Is there a "censoring" of gays? I see clownshack posts a lot, is he censored? How so?

Aren't you and Gal, women ? I see both of you posting.

Try that in China, you really don't know what censorship is.

Well, obviously there's a Stupid Question from the usual source.

And the argument that this Censorship of election interference propaganda is OK because it's worse in China?

SO much stupid!

And although Chinese men are noted for their miniscule personal equipment, you make a great case for their brains having the same inadequacies.

But I have been through a few elections now. After each one it was predicted that the losing party would collapse and it would be the end of that party.

And yet here we are again.

Good luck with your dreams for America. Just don't be too upset when things don't work out the way you planned and the way Trumpy promised. He is already reneging on those promises.

Also, I can point out the DNC's issues and not be a Trump supporter. They are in fact mutually exclusive.

- they both suck.

Only one side had their candidate adjudicated in Court, 3 times, for Insurrection against the United States.

That alone makes one far suckier than the other.

@#44 ... So the DNC is running like a well oiled machine? ...

Where did you ever get that idea?

I mean, really, where?

In my view, the DNC is running like the s40-yer-old shelf clock I have. The clock that is unable to chime on the hour anymore. The DNC, like that clock, needs an infusion of something new, for the clock, a new movement (which I did buy www.clockworks.com )

The DNC has struggled to get out of its own way, for years.

The recent election has proven that.

Will it fix itself?

2026 will tell a lot in that area.

imo, the DNC seems to have lost contact with voters, proposing to move forward instead of solving the problems people actually face.
