President Trump's explosive Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shocked hawkish Republican lawmakers and led one prominent GOP backer of Ukraine to suggest that Zelensky should resign.

Here's some pushback from Rep. Don Bacon (R-Nebraska). Very few Republicans will speak out against Trump, so it's important to identify the ones who will. We need only to flip 2 or 3 Republicans to start blocking Trump in the House.

More from the article ...

...Why it matters: The meeting angered Democrats, who were horrified by Trump and Vice President Vance's conduct. It offended some Republicans, with most of them reserving their ire for Zelensky.

- - - "He needs to either resign or change," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters outside the West Wing.

- - - Zelesnky "has made it almost impossible to sell to the American people that he's a good investment."

Other Republicans shared their concern about the long-term fallout of the short-tempered meeting.

- - - Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), in a text to Axios, said Friday was "a bad day for America's foreign policy."

- - - "Ukraine wants independence, free markets and rule of law. It wants to be part of the West. Russia hates us and our Western values. We should be clear that we stand for freedom," he said.

- - - Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), in a post on X, called the meeting "a disaster -- especially for Ukraine," adding, "

Sadly, the only winner of today is Vladimir Putin. ...

Oops, emphasis did not work, my error.

The "a disaster -- especially for Ukraine," should have been bolded.

Apologies for my error.

France has nukes, not under NATO control.

And a very interesting "first use" policy.

I'm ignoring the wackos with the "French surrender monkeys" meme...

I'm merely thinking that NATO members that currently don't have nuke should get some.

I think nukes are essentially useless and expensive but now might be the time.

You are of course correct.

France has it's own nukes, independent of NATO control.

They'll likely use them if pressed even a little bit too hard.

If/when Russia takes Ukraine, they take the largest, most experienced, best trained on modern weapons Military in Europe.... and then Vlad uses it on Nato.

He and Trumpalumpagus have already divvied up the world as Corporate Oligarchs do their Markets.

And Russia taking Europe makes in more normal for when Trump takes his share... Canada to Patagonia most likely. And Orangeland, formerly Greenland.

China gets all of Asia, and Africa goes to Israel and the Saudis, well, until the US, Russia, and China start dividing it up, too, for resources.

Africa being the New Plantation South, and all.

No... not kidding.

Its possible, if the US keeps allowing itself to be distracted, its interesting you admit this.

This is true, as an Asian immigrant, I see first hand the devastation and chaos the US creates with its helter-skelter foreign policy.

Guess no-one here are aware that Zelensky met with dems before the Trump meeting and they told him not to accept the deal. From a NY Post article that IGNORES THE FACT that Zelensky had spent the entire week prior to the Meeting with Dems and the WH declaring that he would not accept a Deal that did not include a Security Guarantee.

Because, of course, that would be foolish as Vlad has proven time and again that a Cease Fire deal means nothing to him.

Re 39

And Shady JD could not wait to spring his surprise attack claiming that Zelensky was ungrateful and did not even thank them today.

Even though he has thanked us over and over and even just before the ambush.

Trumpy could shoot a million Americans right in front of us all. (He kinda already did!)

And not only would maga maroons still support him, 10 minutes after they witnessed it, they'd be out telling anyone who would listen that those Americans had it coming for not thanking Trump for choosing him to shoot them. And Tommy Tuberville would then tweet that we should be thanking God for Trump, because without him we'd never know the American dream of being able to shoot Americans in streets.

When exactly did your party go from being anti russia to pro russia? Did it happen on the day you realized putin was helping elect trump?
