A senior Kremlin official rejected the idea of a temporary ceasefire, as proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, saying Russia was only interested in a long-term resolution of the Ukraine conflict, Russian media reported. Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, gave an interview to the Russia-1 TV channel. "We believe that our goal is a long-term peaceful settlement, we strive for this, a peaceful settlement that takes into account the legitimate interests of our country, our well-known concerns," Ushakov said, Interfax reported. "It seems to me that no one needs any steps that imitate peaceful actions in this situation."

Kremlin says there's 'nothing' for Russia in US ceasefire idea for Ukraine

... President Vladimir Putin's top foreign policy aide said on Thursday a 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States to pause the war in Ukraine would give Russia "nothing" while gifting Kyiv's forces a much-needed battlefield respite. ...

@#3 ... Kremlin says there's 'nothing' for Russia in US ceasefire idea for Ukraine ...

No surprise that Pres Putin thinks that.

Pres Trump had already given Pres Putin major concessions way before the negotiations even began.

I guess now he's taking that away

Treasury ended the Biden exemption that allowed sanctioned Russian banks to process European payments for oil sales.

Now no one in Europe can purchase Russian oil

The concessions Pres Trump made still look to be in place.

The big one, Pres Trump has said the US will not allow Ukraine to join NATO.

From what I've seen, VP Vance even said that at the recent Munich security conference, and no one even asked him. He just blurted it out at one point.

Trump and his goons treated Zelenskyy like trash and demeaned him as not sophisticated enough to know that Russia would respond positively to this offer if only Ukraine would sign onto The Plan.

But of course everything they say is a lie no matter whothey are talking to.

And boom just like that ... 2 days after shutting off Russia's EU oil revenue, which Biden could have done at the START of the war.

Putin agrees to the ceasefire but insists it must lead to lasting peace and the reversal of the original causes of the crisis.

@#10 ... Putin agrees to the ceasefire ...

Not really.

Pres Putin agreed "in principle" with the proposal for a ceasefire.

If he had actually agreed to the ceasefire, he would have said as much.

But what he did say is just a delaying tactic by him.

Pres Putin says he wants a long-lasting peace. Did he also want a long-lasting peace with Ukraine when he signed the prior Minsk peace agreement?

Or would any upcoming peace agreement just be a stepping stone to another invasion in the future?

Putin suggests US ceasefire idea for Ukraine needs serious reworking
www.reuters.com

... President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia supported a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine in principle, but that any truce would have to address the root causes of the conflict and that many crucial details needed to be sorted out.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has left hundreds of thousands of dead and injured, displaced millions of people, reduced towns to rubble and triggered the sharpest confrontation between Moscow and the West in decades.

Putin's heavily caveated support for the U.S. ceasefire proposal looked designed to signal goodwill to Washington and to open the door to further talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. But the sheer number of clarifications Putin sought and the conditions he suggested might need to be attached to reassure Moscow appeared to rule out a swift ceasefire.

"We agree with the proposals to cease hostilities," Putin told reporters at a news conference in the Kremlin following talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. "The idea itself is correct, and we certainly support it."

"But we proceed from the fact that this cessation should be such that it would lead to long-term peace and would eliminate the original causes of this crisis." ...

"Putin heaps conditions and queries on Ukraine ceasefire talks

Russian leader says he agrees with proposals to halt military action " but notes there are several catches or "nuances."

Russia casts its war as a limited operation to rid Ukraine of the "Nazis" it falsely claims are running it, but Kyiv and Western allies argue Putin's core goals include crushing Ukrainian democracy, seizing vast swathes of territory and ending the country's westward gravitation toward the EU and NATO.

Russia is already insisting any deal must include international recognition of seized territory, a commitment that Kyiv won't join NATO and pledges that European peacekeepers will not serve in the country to protect against another Russian attack."

A rather blatant statement indicating that Russian would not be finished in Ukraine, even if it signs a peace accord.

Similar to what has occurred after the earlier Minsk agreements?

- NATO is a colonizing force.

Give us an example of Nato 'colonizing' in Europe?

Nato declined Ukraine Membership for years, including several years before Vlad invaded. After he did the same to Crimea.

Nato didn't cause this war, Putin did. He even sent KGB officers into Crimea and Ukraine to form 'Nazis' groups of fighters, so he would have excuses to invade.

You've been wrong about this since Day One.
