Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, March 25, 2025

The Post reports today that the IRS' internal projections estimate that the DOGE-driven disruptions to the IRS since the inauguration are on track to have reduced tax receipts by more than $500 billion by April 15th. This, to be clear, is not a final tally. It's not April 15th yet. It's a projection based on historical data, the number of people who've filed, paid owed amounts of tax, etc.

More: It's worth taking a moment to put this number into some context in case half a trillion dollars doesn't do it for you. Non-defense discretionary spending is the cost to fund the U.S. government once you take out mandatory spending (mostly Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid) and the cost of the U.S. military. For 2023 that number was $917 billion. So that's most of the stuff we think of as the government, apart from those payment programs and the military. In other words, in about eight weeks DOGE managed to lose the U.S. government " more or less light on fire " more than half of what goes to all non-defense discretionary spending.

That's what happens when you hire non-accountants to do "accounting". Of course, we all understood the ruse from the start. They're destroying the government so they can further sell our country out to oligarchs. The "efficiency" argument is a pathetic line of bull$#!+ that even an idiot can see

Most Trump voters already live in shht and squalor.

Destroying the rest of the nation won't change their lives at all.

That half trillion the IRS can no longer collect was just going to be spent on Waste, Fraud, and Abuse anyway.
Most government spending is Waste, Fraud, and Abuse. That is why we are defunding the United States of America.

The point was never about effeciency.

It was always about destroying the government in order to privatize it.

Fat Nixon was happy to help because they were mean to him by holding him accountable for his criminal activity.

Let me give you and example of Walmart effeciency:

They heard everyone into self checkouts. At each self checkout is one person watching the customers for problems and theft. So now the customers do the work and the employees stand around watching the customers work.

I'm using the number Snoofy pulled from his ass. Even in well run organizations there is something called the 80/20 rule, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the workers.

"the 80/20 rule, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the workers."

Yeah, and?

Why doesn't every company just fire 20% of the workers then?

Explain.

Because management is part of the 80%. Or I should say Management and Snoofy are part of the 80%.

Then why, again, does it look like they are going to increase the deficit by $500B?

It looks to me like your Republicans are the 80% firing the 20% that actually do the work. Unless you have any countering evidence that they are firing the RIGHT people?

But really this is just a Republican popularity contest. It is not about firing people who don't contribute. It is about firing anyone who disagrees with you.

It is interesting that the people who (apparently) actually do the work are ALSO the ones that disagree with Republicans. But, honestly, that has been obvious to anyone without ideological blinders on for years.

there is something called the 80/20 rule

We talking about how kids are using it? 80% of women are attracted to 20% of men.

80% of the work is done by 20% of the workers.

Time to fire the CEOs and shareholders.

Because you are not Hunter Biden and you won't get a pardon. Pay all the taxes you owe. If you feel generous pay a little more so the Federal workers can continue to play "Call of Duty" instead of work.

"Said differently ... "

Differently as in flat out lying.

DOGE has not shown a single dollar in actual documented savings.

Not one documented fraud charge or prosecution as of this date.

Just a lot criminal negligence and incompetence.

Said accurately, DOGE is allowing taxpayers to steal 500 billion dollars, because IRS can't stop taxpayers from stealing 500 billion dollars after DOGE cut their staff.

I assume this is a reference to Elon Musk's gaming PC on his Government Desk at his DOGE Government Office.

Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) office desk prominently features a high-end gaming setup, including a $1,799 Samsung G9 curved gaming monitor.

"elon musk fired 80% of twitter."

Which is 20%, according to Republican Math.

Remember the formula: 1 + 1 = Whatever my talking points require.

In this case, 8 out of 10 is 20%. Get it?

Me, neither.
