California Sen. Alex Padilla is getting plenty of mileage out of his scuffle with the Secret Service and federal authorities in Los Angeles Thursday. Padilla's Senate and campaign X.com accounts posted a total of seven outraged videos in the first 24 hours after the altercation. Viral videos of the incident show a Secret Service agent dragging a fuming Padilla out of a press conference with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and he identifies himself as a senator only as he's being pushed out the door. The agent then forces Padilla to the ground, while two agents handcuff him. Padilla, however, wasn't arrested. Within the hour, agents released him with no charges

The new protocol:

Resistance is futile.

Any dissent will be considered treason and will be met with overwhelming force and violence.

You WILL hit their heads on the door frame as you shove them socialists into the paddy wagon.

Kristi Noem is a repulsive POS.

She's unfit to lick Padilla's Shoes.

A Psychopath in Heels.

How far we have fallen.

I am in awe of the amount of energy you spend denying common sense, denying clear and documented behavior, and defending the actions of some truly nasty people.

RealClearPolitics is wrong as usual.

Senator Padilla identified himself right away. Noem knows who he is because she has testified multiple times before the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety, where he is the ranking Democrat.

There was no justification to keep shoving him and take him to the ground.

Why is SS even there to begin with? Besides the fact that I don't think Noem deserves a cent's worth of public money for protection, salary, anything...

...but is it normal for the SS to protect cabinet members?

About the article author:

"Susan Crabtree is an author and a political correspondent for RealClearPolitics. She previously served as a senior writer for The Washington Free Beacon and spent five years as a White House Correspondent for the Washington Examiner."

Shocking that she has a rwing slant on things.

He wasn't arrested. He was given 15 minutes with Noem in private and she gave him her number. This was purely a publicity stunt.

He was violently shoved out of the room and taken down like a criminal after repeatedly identifying himself as a U.S. senator. That's what got publicity.

He wasn't (Padila) arrested.

When you are physically restrained on the ground by authorities, you are arrested.

What you are trying to say is the man was afterwards not charged with a crime.

Given that he broke no laws, that's expected.

Noem appearing in body armor to arrest a brown pregnant woman is a publicity stunt.

The Senator was at work. Doing his job. She should be sued for creating a hostile work environment.

15 minutes with Christi Noam is like a lifetime of terror in dog years.

A lot of the so-called points made in this article are bogus. They were in a federal building which required screening to enter. Padilla was accompanied by two federal agents, who he said opened the door for him. Although he wasn't wearing a Senate pin, he was wearing a Senate shirt. Homeland Security Barbie, who loves photo ops, knew who he was--or should have.

I disagree with this assessment. My understanding is that all attendees had already been checked for weapons before coming in, I.e., there was no credible reason to believe he (even unIDd) was a threat. On top of that he is a U.S. Senator OF THAT STATE w direct oversight authority OVER HER AGENCY 1/

Sorry but in addition to a lack of threat, a person's identity and authority in this context matters, and force and restraint was simply not necessary. Punto. If you are a cabinet official and can't handle interjected questions during an effing press conference, get another job
