"If the president at this meeting is going to rant, and just yell at Democrats, and talk about all his alleged grievances, and say this, that, and the other thing, we won't get anything done," Schumer said.

"We don't want a shutdown. We hope that they sit down and have a serious negotiation with us."

;

"The network's chief national correspondent, Robert Costa, told Face the Nation he spoke with Trump by phone Sunday morning and that a government shutdown "looks likely at this point based on my conversation ... He says both sides are at a stalemate."

Costa said: "Inside the White House, sources are saying president Trump actually welcomes a shutdown in the sense that he believes he can wield executive power to get rid of what he calls waste, fraud and abuse."

If no deal is reached, chunks of the federal government are set to shut down as early as Wednesday morning, with the White House telling agencies to prepare to furlough or fire scores of workers."

Did Pres Trump get polling wind of MAGA being blamed for a government shutdown, should one occur?

Dems should shut the government down until the most corrupt president in American history is impeached and removed from office

While I am not yet ruling that out, I do note that Sen Schumer may have become aware of the backlash from his prior surrender on budget negotiations.

Time will tell.

Refusing to Negotiate unless it's in writing and legally binding.

Wait. Der Dotard recently declared that he doesn't need the Dems to pass his budget. What happened? What happened were Senate rules that the GOP, despite their fawning compliance with everything else their fat orange leader has told them to do so far, will not change. So long as 60 votes are needed, the Dems have a say. Chuck Schumer is probably the wrong person to negotiate with the GOPers, because Chuck (sadly) still thinks this is the 1980's, when some civility was the order of the day in the Senate, and in dealings with the president. What is needed at this time is talk like that from Marsellus Wallace:

"I'ma call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin' -------, who'll go to work on the homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talkin', hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'ma get medieval on your ass."

#15: The senior Democratic US Senator from Israel who resides in Brooklyn, Chuck Schumer (D-IS), must go! The sniveling Schumer caved in to the GOP budget in April. Once the budget passed, Benjamin Netanyahu got his American taxpayer check and he ended the ceasefire in Gaza. And that very weekend Dummkopf Trumpf bombed the starving Houthis. Anyone on the planet can see the timeline of events.

Schumer puts the welfare and needs of Israeli citizens first over the welfare of American shiksas and goyim. New Yorkers see this which is why Zohran Mamdani has a minimum 20% support of NYC Jews.

For the first time in a long time the GOP seems to have the upper hand in a shutdown battle. They are asking for a clean CR. Dems are skiing for more from a position of being in the minority.

This reminds me of the Ted Cruz gambit which backfired bigly.

Theyve always had the upper hand. They're the ones who don't want government to work in the first place. They're the ones who don't care if the working class suffers.

Democrats are burdened with good intentions for the american people.

Even during a shutdown much of the government keeps operating. If Dems want to play a losing hand, go right ahead.

Dems are using the filibuster to block a clean CR from moving forward. It's what Cruz did when the GOP was in the minority and guess which party got blamed for that shutdown? It wasn't the majority (Dem) party.

Like I said, if they want to play a losing hand in this face off, have at it.

They are trying to undo parts of BBB that was recently signed into law. Just like Cruz used the filibuster to include defunding ACA in order to pass a CR. Same strategy that will likely yield the same result.

I know what they are trying to do. Trying to undo parts of a duly passed law wrapped in a CR. Cruz tried a similar gambit and failed miserably. That's how I see this going as well. Further, with a shutdown Trump can permanently lay off thousands of federal workers - one of Democrats critical constituencies. How do you think that constituency is going to react to a very preventable shutdown that cost thousands their jobs?

So are Executive Orders. Hear it from an expert:

Lewzer quotes:

"Why Is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?"

"The country wasn't based on executive orders,"

"Right now, Obama goes around signing executive orders. He can't even get along with the Democrats, and he goes around signing all these executive orders. It's a basic disaster. You can't do it."

LOL. 205 so far this year.

Well today they are the norm because the GOP will not reach across the aisle for anything.

This CR is just a one sided bill, so let the one side pass it.

Billy Bragg - Ideology (1986)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
When one voice rules the nation
Just because they're on top of the pile
Doesn't mean their vision is the clearest
The voices of the people
Are falling on deaf ears

Our politicians all become careerists
They must declare their interests
But not their company cars
Is there more to a seat in parliament
Then sitting on your arse

And the best of all this bad bunch
Are shouting to be heard
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

Outside the patient millions
Who put them into power
Expect a little more back for their taxes
Like school books, beds in hospitals
And peace in our bloody time

All they get is old men grinding axes
Who've built their private fortunes
On the things they can rely

The courts, the secret handshake
The Stock Exchange and the old school tie
For God and Queen and Country
All things they justify
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

God bless the civil service
The nations saving grace
While we expect democracy
They're laughing in our face

And although our cries get louder
Their laughter gets louder still
Above the sound of ideologies clashing
...
