They're calling for up to an inch of ice from freezing rain here in Charlotte. Not looking forward to the next few days.

#3 My MIL is up the road from you, QCP, and has already been out to purchase the necessities for getting through the next several days:

Bottled water - check
Batteries - check
Snacks - check
Wine - double check

#3 My bride has been keeping an eye out on the weather in NC.

In the mountains the high is supposed to be 20-23 degrees F.

While the low is in the low single digits, with windchills pushing the feels-like to the negative, double-digit territory.

Brrrrrrrrr

I can deal with the cold, but that much ice will likely knockout power all over the place. That part will suck.

I'm worried about keeping my aquarium heated and the pumps running if the power drops for a long time. I just added three beautiful new juvenile discus fish to the tank.

I need to bite the bullet and get a Generac this year.

That's balmy, open jacket weather in MN. Currently -22, high today will be -11. Wind chill in Grand Marais today is -67.

LOL at the focus on the eastern US.

Meanwhile, tonight and tomorrow are going to be catastrophic for areas in Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee where they're predicting ice accumulations of up to an inch.

#7 Was in Colonial Williamsburg many years ago for their Grand Illumination (early December). Walking out of the hotel, thoroughly bundled up, I saw a man getting out of his car wearing nothing but shorts and a T shirt.

When I looked at his license plate it read "Minnesota."

#9 LOL, Yep! They're a hardy bunch here. It doesn't matter the weather, people will be out exercising today.

As for me, I am a So Cal transplant and I think these temperatures are VERY rude, more suitable to curling up on the sofa, under a blanket and reading a good book. Just started reading The Boys of Riverside: A Deaf Football Team and a Quest for Glory. Once had a neighbor that taught at that school.

Southern states don't have the infrastructure to handle this kind of weather and most people in the South don't know how to drive in this type of weather.

Gosh, this poltroon absconded to a Blue State.

For Canadian-Cuban Coward Ted Cruz, I guess California was closer and cheaper than flying to Israel.
