. "If you buy, you know, a porterhouse steak, it's going to, it is going to take you back. You can buy liver or the cheaper cuts of steak that are very, very affordable," [Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.] added.

Updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans released earlier this year placed proteins like red meat at the top of the new upside-down food pyramid, alongside vegetables and fruits.

But the cost of red meat has shot up over the last year. The average cost of a pound of ground beef went from $5.54 to $6.75 between January 2025 and January 2026, the highest cost on record, despite a statement by President Trump in his State of the Union address that the price of beef is falling.

Old shoe leather is also quite a bargain!

Which reminds me of the canned worms I saw in an ethnic grocery store once. Very cheap for the amount of protein.

Whatever RFKJR is eating today, it's not liver.

OH NO! POOR PEOPLE FOOD!

Definitely do not eat the oxtail eggrolls from the island place down the street. Stay away from those. Shoe leather. Terrible.

Wait. I love scrapple! If you fry it up nice and crispy yum yum!

Good luck finding any. It's nearly impossible to find scrapple anymore.

Definitely do not eat the oxtail

Oxtail can be quite tasty when cooked properly (pressure cooker or dutch oven with a heavy lid is best, or low and slow if you must), if you like the taste of beef.

Pretty easy to make. My grandpa (RIP) loved that stuff. I think it reminded him of his youth in Pennsylvania.

I can't do liver. It stinks.

"Pretty easy to make. "

That's what I was told. I tried. I suck at it. Apparently. My wife's was better but still not the same. Just wasn't the same as what I grew up with in Virginia. I could still get it in Virginia but I can't find it at all in Ca.

I just ate two hard-boiled eggs, hummus and bean salad for lunch. High protein, low fat, high fiber, and I'll wager my meal cost about $1.50. For a man who gives a lot of health and nutrition advice, Heroin Bob sounds a lot like a drug-addicted rich lawyer. Better he were to read horoscopes since he would be more accurate there...

Dude needs to STFU. I like having the good stuff be cheap, if everybody starts buying it it's gonna get expensive.

Have you priced oxtail or tongue lately? It's not cheap. And beef liver is hard to even find sometimes.

Keep eating steak. Leave the good stuff for me.

Shhhhhh. If people find this place it's going to be too busy.

The jerk chicken was also flawless, and they have coco bread.

Well done "peasant" food beats rich people food pretty consistently. Go to fine dining now and it's a bunch of single bites plated extremely nicely.
