" And how many did we lose to recover him?

I think the number is zero. I haven't seen reporting of any US casualties resulting from this rescue mission.

This is going to disappoint you, but Zero.

Censor,
"Glad they got him back, but this sounds moderately pricey. We should probably cancel school lunch programs and midterm elections to help recoup the costs."
Cost was likely astronomical.
So what?

It was money well spent, which is more than you can say about a LOT of other things the US blows money on.

Well, as Hair Furor said, we can't pay for everything:
"Trump: It's not possible' for Washington to fund Medicaid, Medicare as military spending rises. The United States can't take care of day care. That has to be up to a state," Trump said during a White House event. "We're fighting wars. We can't take care of day care." "Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things ... You can't do it," www.aol.com

Too bad we don't spend even a fraction of that much money on saving civilian lives.

Donner,
"Too bad we don't spend even a fraction of that much money on saving civilian lives."
What are you talking about?
America spends astronomical amounts of money feeding and housing people.
The pilot was grateful.
The people being fed aren't and most see it as an obligation. No gratitude.

So you personally believe We The People have no obligation to feed the hungry.
Jesus and you have opposite opinions on us non-hungy people's obligation to feed the hungry.
And yet you call yourself a Christian.
Care to comment?

A young mother of two would hardly be a USN CAPT.
The USN rank of CAPT is O-6 and may be too high for a young US fighter pilot.
US Army and USMC CPT is O-3 and would make more sense for a young pilot and mother of two.

Let me guess: Another one of your gut feelings, for which you don't have a scintilla of proof.
I mean...you're joking, right? Do you really believe the majority have NO GRATITUDE?!? Do you actually read what you write before you post??

"no gratitude"
Yeah, Bill didn't word that right. See....I would have hooked you all with something enticing.
I would frame the free loaders as white, trailer trash dwellers living in a red state.
That's several levels of freeloading and "no gratitude" towards those who provide their benefits.
You know what makes it possible for free loaders to have no gratitude.......let them believe they aren't freeloaders in the first place.
----------- evangelicals in red states have been told they are the backbone of America..........not freeloaders.
So naturally........no gratitude towards those who provide their free lunch

"Yeah, Bill didn't word that right."
It serves his purpose of dehumanizing them, so...you know., all good. No gratitude, so if they die from preventable hunger, well, kid...
...make better choices next time... starting with parents and country of birth.

#44 Hate the amazing rescue of our American hero, Left Hind Turds?
You'd think Trump was an Air Force Pararescue jumper himself, plunging into the hot LZ to rescue the downed F-15E WSO, or that no other President had ever even dreamed of trying to rescue a downed American pilot. And he'd be right ... Except for the inconvenient fact that every other American President in the last 90 years has done the same. CSAR is a thing we do, and have done under different names since World War II; after all, George H.W. Bush was rescued by the USS Finback submarine in 1945. The shootdown of an F-15E led to the loss of one A-10, two MC-130s, at least four AH MH-6 Little Bird helicopters, in addition to several damaged helicopters and aircraft. The Defense Department (sorry, Pete, not using your branding) has been remarkably unwilling to discuss casualties of any kind. As with everything regarding our military, of course, it was an act of amazing skill and heroism.

The usual lame [obscene?] trolling attempts of your current alias to attempt to deflect the thread from what is reports ...
From #1 ....
... Hiding alone in a mountain crevice behind enemy lines, the injured American airman knew exactly what to do: survive and evade. For more than a day, the weapons systems officer whose F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down inside Iran avoided being captured by encroaching Iranian forces. At one point, he scaled the rugged terrain to a ridgeline 7,000 feet above sea level, equipped with little more than a pistol, a communication device and a tracking beacon. It was into the high mountains that a team of American commandos, accompanied by US aircraft dropping bombs to clear the area, swarmed to locate the officer, bringing him and themselves to safety. ...

Why does your current trolling alias seem to be so against the heroic recovery of a downed American pilot?
