Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, May 21, 2026

Despite the term being widely used, Historian Heather Cox Richardson lays out how Trump's "settlement" with the IRS is definitely not a settlement, it is an agreement. The judge was fixing to throw out Trump's case against the IRS so there was nothing to settle.

Notice they keep calling it a settlement agreement. Over and over. Sane washing the fact that this isn't a settlement. It's not pursuant to a lawsuit. It not approved by a court. It JUST THEFT.[image or embed]

"Go ahead, Trumpers. Defend this."

They won't. They'll continue with their heads in the sand and pretend it's just politics as usual, waiting for the next relatively trivial thing to feign outrage about.

After the Senate eliminates all funding in spending bill to finish his ballroom, Donald Trump installs a massive Bouncy Castle in its place, exclusively for girls 13 and under.

A small bit of justice. Unfortunately, those responsible for the political use of the IRS during the Biden and Obama administrations will never be punished.

The IRS crime occurred under Trumpy. The perp is in prison.

"A small bit of justice."

So.. Stealing $1.7 billion dollars from the American taxpayer and giving it to convicted criminals is just a "small bit of injustice"?

Yeah. Pretty soon we'll be talking about REAL injustice and REAL money. Right?

GFY enabler.

"The IRS crime occurred under Trump"

Trump only hires the best.
This person got him $1,776,000,000 of taxpayer money.

That's pretty good.
Nobody here has ever brought in that kind of money.

This is what I have been harping on the entire time this news broke.

Everyone is concerned about WHO gets paid from this fund.

The real issus is HOW THE FUND WAS CREATED in the first place. It should have never happened and is a farce.

GOP should look to kill it (one GOP member already has said so) if they want any chance of survivig in November.

Breaking:

NYT: Senate Republicans abruptly abandoned plans to take up a filibuster-proof bill on Thursday to fund President Trump's immigration crackdown, a stunning turn demonstrating that members of his own party were not willing to risk politically toxic votes to advance the president's personal agenda.

Since NYT is behind a paywall, I'm linking to another story that has basically the same information:
