We will probably never know.
2023 Demographic Differences in Federal Sentencing Key Findings Sentencing differences continued to exist across demographic groups when examining all sentences imposed during the five-year study period (fiscal years 2017-2021). These disparities were observed across demographic groups"both among males and females.
Specifically, Black males received sentences 13.4 percent longer, and Hispanic males received sentences 11.2 percent longer, than White males (depicted below). Hispanic females received sentences 27.8 percent longer than White females, while Other race females received sentences 10.0 percent shorter. www.ussc.gov

I don't think he wouldn't have been charged if he was white. He would have just been let off with nothing or a very light punishment.
Let's be real, the issue isn't that he was wrong and deserved punishment for knifing a guy in the chest over a minor altercation, the issue is that others who commit a similar crime get off easy.

35 years is too long for somebody who committed a murder acting in a moment of passion and as a minor. If he was white, the sentence wouldn't be as long, maybe like minimum 10 years.
How many years did white adult male Brock Turner get for raping a woman, again? Oh yeah, three months.

Aggravating Circumstances in the Case Anthony as the Aggressor: Student witnesses testified that Anthony started the trouble. He sat under a tent belonging to Metcalf's school during a rainy track meet. When Metcalf and others repeatedly asked him to leave, Anthony refused and escalated the fight. Premeditated Threat: Before any physical contact happened, Anthony reached into his bag and told Metcalf, "Touch me and see what happens." Prosecutors used this to show he was actively looking for a violent fight. Disproportionate Response: While Metcalf did eventually shove Anthony, the prosecution successfully argued that a minor push did not justify a deadly escalation. As the lead prosecutor stated to the jury, "You don't get to meet a shove with a stab." Location and Community Impact: The murder took place at a high school sporting event filled with students. The state emphasized the severe trauma caused to the "brave kids" who had to watch their classmate get killed and later testify in court

If you do the crime you have to do the time. Black or white. Instead of 'not' giving long sentences to minorities whom rape assault and murder why not give white rich people the same long sentences for those crimes instead of lowering the bar on time for minorities? People do deserve to go to jail if they do bad deeds to the rest of us after all. I've had friends and family raped, murdered, robbed as well as having myself assaulted and robbed so I have a hard time feeling pity for a bad person doing that type of stuff. Hell, my grandfather was shot dead by a rich person in cold blood and got off Scott free. I never got to know the man and read that his murderer is an even richer corporate owner to this day.

"Convicting a black man of murder is racist."
Sometimes it is. You didn't know that? You still don't know that.
Persistent implicit and explicit racial bias in our criminal legal system has resulted in a disproportionate rate of wrongful conviction cases among people of color. Though Black people account for just 13.6% of the U.S. population, nearly 60% of the people the Innocence Project has helped to free or exonerate since 1992 are Black. innocenceproject.org

It's how some on the left screw themselves with the wrong argument.
Everyone agrees this is justice in action. Just complaining that whites don't get the same treatment. Not saying it's untrue but it's still justice.
Maybe pick an instance where it's not justice. Where it's overly harsh or make a direct comparison to a similar crime where the white perp received a lighter sentence.

Racial disparities in the justice system are well-documented, with the United States Sentencing Commission confirming that Black male offenders receive sentences roughly 13% to 20% longer than similarly situated white offenders for the same crimes.

Where do you get this White Nativist propaganda from? Please share the link.
It is difficult for us to appreciate the degree of discrimination and hardship facing African Americans (see Source C). One million black farm workers lost their jobs in the 1920s. Black workers in the towns in the north were the lowest paid; the only work available to them were low-paying, menial jobs. New York's black Harlem district was a severely overcrowded and segregated community, with more than 250,000 citizens crammed into an area 50 blocks long and eight blocks wide. In 1928, there was one hospital bed for every 139 white people, and one for every 1,941 black people. Life expectancy in 1929 was 59 for white people, 47 for black people. www.johndclare.net

Snoofy, there is no White Savior. Only Blacks can help themselves, and it starts with fatherlessness.
A young man who grows up without a father is 8 times as likely to go jail and 90% likely to live his entire life in poverty. And that is true of all races.
And today, that is 73% of Black men.

In the 2010s and 2020s, several observers and commentators argued that, while the organization's influence peaked in the 1970s, "Bircherism" and its legacy of conspiracy theories began making a resurgence in the mid-2010s,[21] and had become the dominant strain in the conservative movement.[22] In particular, they argued that the JBS and its beliefs shaped the Republican Party,[23][24] the Christian right,[25]:iv,156"157 the first and second Trump administrations,[26] and the broader conservative movement.[27][28][29] en.wikipedia.org

By the early 2020s, multiple commentators and academics argued that the John Birch Society and its beliefs had successfully taken over the Republican Party and the broader conservative movement.[28][27][67][64][29][68] Efforts of Moms for Liberty in the 2020s to influence public education in the United States via school board elections and book bans have been compared to JBS's efforts in the 1960s.[69][70] When introducing legislation to withdraw the U.S. from the UN, Senator Mike Lee used "some of the same arguments to support the bill" that the JBS "first employed."[71] By the 2020s, some national Republican and conservative figures openly associated with the JBS.[65] same link as above

Politicians and pundits will run with it.
But no solutions.
We abolished slavery, passed voting rights, civil rights, affirmative action.
Not saying that's enough or jobs finished.
Draft some legislation of a similar nature to address an inequality before the law. What can we do from that standpoint?

I've hit a slew of books in my work that talk about how the humanitarian left globally has been influencing policies, building institutions based on those policies, and soaking up a lot of available funds with little to show for it.
That's research from liberal/balanced university presses. Not opinion pieces or internet clippings.

Moynihan argued that the rise in black single-mother families was caused not by a lack of jobs for men, but by a destructive vein in ghetto culture, which could be traced back to the slavery era and the subsequent racial discrimination in the American South under Jim Crow laws.

Anything else happen in 1901 that might affect blacks?
In January 1901, the only remaining Black Congressman, George H. White, gave his parting speech on the floor of the House. His term would end in March 1901, and he would not try to secure re-election. His state, North Carolina, had adopted a Constitutional amendment in 1900 that would disenfranchise almost all the black voters in the state in 1902. www.jstor.org

The evidence"not final, but powerfully persuasive"is that the Negro family in the urban ghettos is crumbling. A middle-class group has managed to save itself, but for vast numbers of the unskilled, poorly educated city working class the fabric of conventional social relationships has all but disintegrated." race communism (Internet slang, derogatory, politics) Communism based on a racial rather than economic system, perceived to favour non-Whites against White people.
Usage notes Typically from a right-wing perspective targeted at those they consider to be "anti-white".
Blacks are poor because of Capitalism.
Well, who can argue with that!

America will trudge along, leaving imploding China in the dust,
A. Agree B. No. You don't think we're imploding now?
China has all that socialist crap like 5-year plans. We have elections every few months of one kind or another to keep people distracted. Who's gonna tank?
We're celebrating 250 years. When did China do that? 3000 BC?

China is ancient. Communist China is synthetic. It has no reason to exist, and can't without oppressing the Chinese.
And Communist China is a lot younger than USA. When was the Cultural Revolution?
Also, how old is Western Civilization? I'm going with "since the Helenic era", so 4,500 years. That was the start of Greco-Roman civilization, or at least its roots.

Let's see, Trump just put every American on the hook to give $1,000 to Iran.
Meanwhile, 43% of Americans Don't Have Savings to Pay for a $1,000 Emergency.www.usnews.com
Sounds like we're doing just fine!

14 Absolute BS. Anybody stab anybody in Colin County Texas, you're going to jail.
Sure. But what is the disparity in the length of time served for black vs white perps?

What is the disparity in the length of time served for black vs white perps? Do tell JPW. Same prior arrest record and mitigating and exacerbating factors?

I acknowledge the disparity. I question the reasons. To my knowledge there are studies that identify many. Race is but one.
Back to Colin County, I'm just guessing but I suspect 35 is low for straight up murder. I would expect life w/possible parole.

Country - 4.7% probably within the margin of error. www.ussc.gov
Collin County in general. policescorecard.org
Seems like Blacks and Hispanics commit way more crime than their population would warrant.
Capital felonies are the most serious felony crimes in the state of Texas. Convictions for a capital offense require a sentence of either imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for life, life without parole or by death. The only situation in Texas state law in which someone is eligible for a life sentence with a chance of parole is if the state's attorneys do not seek the death penalty and the person was younger than 18 at the time of the arrest. saputo.law

This is why the studies have difficulty normalizing, not every crime is the same, nor the criminal.
idk why it's not required to report this meta information so it can be analyzed.

Look at the punctuation at the end of my post. Ask an adult to explain it if needed.

Indeed. Which is why a comparison of the relative distributions/stats of population data would be needed.
There will always be caveats.

Cultures and peoples go on and on, regardless of politics.
We are not the United States of Greco-Roman.
And much of the US doesn't like the culture and people it's becoming.
So who's gonna stick it out for the long haul? I'm not saying whose approach is better. Who is making international friends of any stripe now? Who seems stable now?

Our President is celebrating being President in our 250th year. Not so sure the country is really "celebrating 250 years." It's a pale shadow of when our country celebrated 200 years.

As a Kenyan official once put it: "Every time China visits we get a hospital, every time Britain visits we get a lecture."
(and further down the page on Reddit) :
Random Western dude: well how are you going to pay for the hospitals? They don't come for free you know.
Random other poster: Here comes the lecture!

Yes by putting a carnival sideshow on the White House lawn.
I don't ever want hear another ------- word out of a MAGAt mouth about "respecting the office" ever again.
This nation has become a freak show of hate, violence, bigotry, corruption and misogyny.
