So, under this memorandum of understanding, Iran will receive $324 billion in exchange for agreeing not to develop nuclear weapons. But please keep going on about the $400 million in cash that Obama authorized to Iran as part of the JCPOA.

"But even before we have the details, it is clear that Trump has failed to achieve every one of the goals he put forward for this war of choice, and now he is determined to sign, seal, and deliver America's capitulation as quickly as possible."

The Atlantic article at the thread link is mostly Paywalled, so here's another source for it:

spotmedia.ro

"The reality shows the following:

The war will end with the regime in Tehran intact and under the control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps;

The Strait of Hormuz will remain under the threat of Iranian attacks;
Iran will continue to possess significant stocks of drones and missiles;
The regime will maintain its capacity to be a state sponsor of terrorism;

Many sanctions will be lifted, and billions of dollars in unfrozen assets will flow to Iran.

In other words, the Iranians have achieved their key strategic objectives - the survival of the regime above all - while the Americans have not achieved any of their goals."

And... Nuttyahoo is not amused:

"The Iran deal is an American failure that endangers Israel

The senior American official distorted the truth in a briefing to reporters:

The centrifuges will remain, the enriched uranium will not be removed, and Trump himself contradicted him the next day.

Iran won on the money issue: Lifting sanctions on oil exports will channel tens of billions of dollars to the Revolutionary Guards, more than they earned by bypassing sanctions.

Senior US official to Israel: "You will not be a signatory to the agreement, but every action you take will have to be coordinated with the US."

From personal and professional experience I can advise you the IDF plied the paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne graciously and generously with wine, woman, and song.

The same occurred with the USAF Stealth pilots who flew to Israel months before the grunts of the 82nd AA.

The Iranians realistically dealt with Trump by understanding and leaning into and exploiting his gross mental illness.

If we lived in a rational country we would find it easy to rid ourselves of this irrational man.

#7 There's a very ugly and equally self-serving rationality.

I agree with this fully.

They take advantage of Trump's lack of emotional and intellectual competence now and are set to go into overdrive when he dies.

At this point, I don't think very many people want to see Donald Trump live.

If Trump could get his mind around that, I think he's order a few more people killed.

That's because it's not really an agreement. It's more like an agreement to try to make an agreement. We've seen this before several times.

I promise not develop nuclear weapons for a measly $100 million.

Hook me up, MAGA.

The curious part of this for me is that Iran now has, thanks to Pres Trump, a new strategic world-choke-point, i.e., the Strait of Hormuz.

So, why would Iran even need to develop a nuclear weapon when it can so much more easily affect the world via the Strait of Hormuz?

I await the actual wording of the Memorandum of Understanding on Friday to see just how the Strait will be opened.

Let's be realistic, America.

$300 billion is enough for Iran to buy a few nuclear weapons from North Korea, Pakistan, and Russia.

Obama administration denies Iran cash payment was a ransom (2016)
www.reuters.com

... The Obama administration said on Wednesday that $400 million in cash paid to Iran soon after the release of five Americans detained by Tehran was not ransom as some Republicans have charged.

The five, including Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, were released on Jan. 16 in exchange for seven Iranians held in the United States for sanctions violations. The prisoner deal coincided with the lifting of international sanctions against Tehran.

At the time, the United States said it had settled a longstanding Iranian claim at the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in The Hague, releasing $400 million in funds frozen since 1981, plus $1.3 billion in interest that was owed to Iran.

The funds were part of a trust fund Iran used before its 1979 Islamic Revolution to buy U.S. military equipment that was tied up for decades in litigation at the tribunal. ...

Filing for bankruptcy and getting others to pay for his failures is how he does business. He is applying the same techniques in politics as he uses in business... as always. He is going to stick us with the (tax) bill as punishment for not backing him up and making him look good.

I'm sorry but I just won't go along with the current belief that the United States is a monolithic political nation diabolically controlled by two political parties colluding with each other. I just don't think it is true; call me naive if you will but the Republican Party is in control of Congress and if there is an unwillingness to hold President Trumo accountable through impeachment it is coming from the Republican majority in both Houses of Congress. Donald Trump said so himself when he said "if Democrats take the majority I'll be impeached." So we'll find out in November if we live in a rational country and elect enough Democrats to take the majority and impeach this lunatic!

No doubt in my mind about that. I live in a country, society, nation, of over-medicated, cosmetically reconfigured, gluttonous, greedy, self-absorbed, fake-*ss people publishing blubbering close-up mug shot sililoquies... while fishing for something... from their cell phones... because real work doesn't pay enough etc., etc., etc...
