The democrats have two years to make good on their promises.
End the war in Iran. Lower prices. Control inflation. End ICE. Stop the insanity.
If they don't follow through, the pendulum will swing backwards. The public is at the point where they will vote for change even if it means bad change like 2024.

#24 Agreed. Dems need to walk and chew gum. IOW, they need to address issues of both affordability and accountability.

All's good up there Nixon, but most prices will not come down. They will stabilize, but not come down. Gas and Diesel may drop 10% but everything else will stay as it is.

It isn't "all about prices..." If we don't pack the SCOTUS within the 1st year, I will be disappointed.

20-year, retroactively applied term limits would be good enough for me. That would effectively take care of Roberts, Alito and Thomas.

You want them to pack the court while Trump is still president? Exactly how would that work?

They need to do something about healthcare prices. Restore ACA subsidies, pass a bill for Medicare for folks 55 and over (even if Trump vetoes it), pass a bill to send money to rural communities to shore up healthcare facilities in that are in danger of going bankrupt. They aren't going to be able to lower costs across the board, but they need to be seen making good faith efforts to do so.

Until we can have a serious discussion about healthcare in this country?

Fair enough. Just reminding folks that ACA subsidies, while necessary for the moment, is the opposite of universal health care. It's pure funding and subsidizing the private health insurance industry.
which means it needs an ending date if we're serious about making real change.

Someone mentioned a Constitutional Convention being possible... how 'bout we kill Citizens United while we're at it?

A lot of rheumy-eyed MAGA cult members are waking up late this morning, turning over in bed and realizing that the object they've been gleefully ------- for the past decade is actually a maggot-infested, rotting pig's head sewn onto the body of a putrescent, vinyl blow-up doll.

What was MAGA thinking?
They thought they were Masters of the Universe, in imitation of their boss. They behaved with brutal swagger and thought it would go on forever.
The neo-Confederacy did not end last night.
But we did stop it cold by way of a neo-Gettysburg.

Not happening with a veto happy president and less than 2/3 of the senate. Best we can hope for is to slow or stop the bleeding until 2028. We are lost internationally at least for a generation though. Who would trust a treaty signed by America?

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies were Trump's fault. Supporting Trump's recklessly flawed nominees and policies were every incumbent Republican's fault. Every Republican who supported Trump's nominees and unconstitutional policies should have expected a rebuke.

If the war ended today and the Strait of Hormuz freely opened to shipping traffic tomorrow, it could still be 6 months to a year before we see significant relief at the pumps. The supply lines need to straighten out, infrastructure rebuilt, refineries rebuilt, shipping insurance costs absorbed and lowered - it's not just going to be a flip of the switch. Same with our goods imports, retail and manufacturing costs, imports and exports. The effects of the tariffs are already in those supply chains and will take months to be absorbed and passed through even if the tariffs end today. Despite the wins in Congress, Trump is still president for two more years. And he has the Supreme Court. Many of our international trading partners may not be ready to trust us again yet. The Dems certainly need to get a plan together. I like what Jeffries has already been working on. They need to also get ahead on messaging and inform the country of what reality is going to look like for a good while yet.

They need to pass the Medicare for All legislation, or some other pragmatic universal healthcare that removes a large portion of the middlemen and profit motive from the equation (even if Trump vetoes it). The ACA has been undermined to the point of practical uselessness.

#24 If they have the votes to pass M4A that would be great, but if they don't, then they should at least lower the Medicare eligibility age to 55. That would cover a lot of people who are getting to the age where they have more health problems and I think it would also soften the ground to transitioning to M4A, which the ultimate goal.

Mitt Romney summed it all up well:
"Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies."

Trump has led to a slew of crass, crazy, cruel, nincompoops being able to run and win in the House.
Juxtiposed on the Dem side are a group of thoughtful, vibrant, intelligent, well-intentioned newcomers.
I just saw the so-called "victory speech" given by an R who won reelection in NY state. I stopped counting once he'd dropped over a dozen f bombs and "a***oles." Typical of the crazed morons like Gym Jordan who'll still be in the House, or the Lauren Boeberts will no longer defile our seat of government.

Trump was the worst person to put in charge of the government.
A person who for decades built himself up by tearing others down whether it be through illegal immigrant labor, outright defrauding of investors and customers, bankrupting contractors by refusing to pay, stealing money donated to children with cancer, etc.
He tapped a vein of racism, bigotry and hate and the ones who did those did not appeal to he promised them everything they wanted to hear with no plan whatsoever to deliver on those promises.
America elected Biff Tannen to the presidency and then was surprised that all he did was steal money for himself and his pals, murdered and attacked citizens, started a war to inside trade on oil futures and stock prices and turned the capitol into a cess pool of hate, bullying and corruption.
"What were we thinking?"
You weren't.
You were warned. The warnings were there all the way back to the 1980s. You ignored them.

Sadly, it will take time for many of us to let go of our angerand revulsion over what Trump and MAGA have done to this formerly great nation. The road to restoration will be long. Petty vengeance is a MAGA/Trump game. Let us try to overcome it while simultaneously fighting to overcome the racist xenophobia of the GOP. As reasonable, moderate people, let us show the world that we are better than Trump and his hate filled followers are.

You'll expose your real agenda before you even get sworn in. You clowns hate America, hate white people, hate men.
What the ---- do Democrats know about affordability? They've controlled California for decades and they have the highest cost of living, highest gas prices by far, and homeless people lining the streets. They're so delusional out there that they actually think homeless everywhere is just normal and what it's like all over the country.
Gen Z learning Democrats hate them and think "they are" the rich people that need to pay higher taxes for illegals and foreigners will be fun to watch. We might get some more Luigis and Democrats in the place of the United healthcare CEO.
