So, that caused me to buy the generator that could power two things in my house - the furnace and the refrigerator. That is, keep me warm and keep the food appropriately cold. The generator can supply power to more, but that is the critical requirement. And the generator works for a full day on just one filling of its gas tank!

That generator was most helpful when Hurricane Irene killed power here for three days the following year.
