If I were to run for office, I wouldn't remotely address me being special or righteous or moral or look at me I'm a Chreestian nonsense. Not that I'd be caught having an affair with a staffer who then goes to light herself on fire, but I wouldn't set myself up for that kind of fall by not putting myself up on a pedestal to begin with.

The people who do that are people who have stuff to hide or try to explain away.

It all goes back to my hypothesis that hypocrisy doesn't matter to "chreestians" because they're not going through the act for outsiders. It's entirely to convince themselves they're good, decent people and to justify or rationalize ignoring their own indiscretions and poor behavior.
