So let's look at your advice for the same kid who also has student loan debt.
Your advice for those kids is:
"Going to college isn't within your means, because your parents are too poor."

I know a good number of smart people who didn't get the opportunities a college degree provides simply because their parents were poor and could not pay for them to go to college.

That's bad for America. You should be able to understand that. You should be able to understand you're whistling past the graveyard of the economic opportunities that you had, but today's poor kids don't.

You're supposed to borrow against your own assets to get that tax free income.

This is just one example of how the economy is structurally set up to extract wealth from the poor and middle class, and redistribute it to the wealthy class.

The bell curve is a symmetric distribution. Income distribution is very different. If income was truly a bell curve we wouldn't be having this conversation. We get further from a bell curve every day, every year, decade after decade.
