I admit my situation is special, how lucky I am.
The only times I felt truly persecuted was over employment because that directly impacts my livelihood. The aggro encounters at bus stops, stores, gyms, whereever are something I can handle with wit, grace or flirtation. I'm not good with fire on fire interactions; I'm more rainbow - so, not the shark that most companies expect, just the humor.
In your opinion have gay people been less likely to be employed because they were gay? Even my contracted experience makes me leery of working with heterosexual-only groups - am I the phobe??
