Working for the government pays better than private, and the pension is outrageous.
The more people taken out of the private sector into the public sector, means you erode your new revenue tax base. Sure a government employee pays taxes, but Fed employees don't pay SS. And I don't believe State and local pay into it if the State has a FICA replacement plan.
Governments have been understaffed for years.
