Nobody "Owes" anyone their vote. The candidate has to earn them.

The two party, winner take all system discourages any more than two parties by calling them "spoilers". Nobody owes the two Parties anything. People can vote for other parties.

There's no such thing as a Spoiler. People vote for who they want.

It's hard to establish a third party when all they seem to do is run some rando for president every 4 years.

Supreme Court leaves Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein off Nevada's ballot
www.pbs.org

... The Supreme Court has rejected an emergency appeal from Nevada's Green Party seeking to include presidential candidate Jill Stein on the ballot in the battleground state.

The court's order Friday, without any noted dissents, allows ballot preparation and printing to proceed in Nevada without Stein and other Green Party candidates included.

The outcome is a victory for Democrats who had challenged the Greens' inclusion on the ballot in a state with a history of extremely close statewide races. In 2020, President Joe Biden outpaced former President Donald Trump by fewer than 35,000 votes in the state.

The state's Democratic Party had sued to kick Stein off the ballot after the Green Party submitted enough signatures to include her. A lower state court ruled in her favor, but the state Supreme Court decided the petition forms were faulty. ...

The Green party was represented at the Supreme Court by Jay Sekulow, a Trump ally who was part of the president's legal team during his first impeachment trial.

Across the country, a network of Republican political operatives, lawyers and their allies is trying to shape November's election in ways that favor Trump. Their goal is to prop up third-party candidates, including Stein and Cornel West who offer liberal voters an alternative that could siphon away support from Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. ...

Umm, what? Enjoy being manipulated by the GOP that will enforce policies a hundred times worse (from the Green perspective) than anything the Dems would do (which would, if nothing else, put into place a SCOTUS that will allow progressive policies to actually become law).

Like Trump did in the last election? Insurrection, invasion of the Capital, the hunt for Mike Pence to assassinate him so he couldn't carry out hia Constitutional duties?

Sometimes patriotism becomes more important han personal ego gratification. George W. Bush benefited by Ralph Nader's need foe ego gratification. I wouldn't want to be Jill Stein if her ego enabled Donald Trump to win! Oh, the preaching about democracy be Putin sychophant EFFETELIAR is sadly laughable' Go preach to Putin about democracy ASS***e1 If they let you give us a call from Siberia and let us know how well recieved your opinions are!

When you encounter people advocating that Americans use democracy as a weapon for use against itself, you've likely identified those influenced by or susceptible to hostile foreign actors hoping to destroy America from within.

"It's called democracy. Democrats should try it, since it's right in the name."

Oddly stupid post. Tell us moron, when was the last time Democrats lost the election and then invaded the Capital to prevent the certification of the election by assasinating the Vice President?

President Biden looked at the threat to democracy posed by Donald Trump and withdrew his candidacy so that a younger candidate could win and defend our democracy. So when is Jill Stein going to demonstrate her connittment to democracy through personal sacrifice? Sorry, spoiler candidates like her and Ralph NADER are far more concerned about their own egos than democracy. This election reveals the truth about Stein: Her own Ego before democracy is her priority! We have Russian sympathizers defending Stein here! Laughable at best. Stein needs to exit the race and get behind the preservation of deocracy! If you didn't learn anything in 2000 then you'll probably refuse to put American democracy first but just admit the truth Stein supporters, you're really closeted Trump supporters. Don't be offended by being identified honestly, embrace what you are! So, you're Trump supporters! Own it!

"When you see the information about Republican operatives boosting her candidacy, you can deduce from that very simply that she is very much sponsored and purposefully placed on the ballot to help Donald Trump," said Joel Payne, spokesman for MoveOn, a progressive political-action committee.

Makes you wonder how much money Trumpy is offering to pay her to give up her last shred of dignity and to run as a spoiler.

I first became aware of the "both candidates are the same" cliche in 2000, when I was 17. Since then, I've observed that, while both parties are influenced by many of the same lobbyists, they don't make the same exact decisions when it comes to things like launching illegal wars against foreign countries, and packing the Supreme Court with lifelong appointed nutjobs who screw over our country and women for who knows how many years into the future, amongst other horrible policy. And I'm still hearing/seeing the "both candidates are the same" BS from some young naive souls today. I've seen that statement wholly disproven over a couple of Republican vs Dem presidencies. I'm no Dem fanboi, but people need to stop throwing out the baby with the bathwater, stop cutting off their nose to spite their face.

THEY BOTH STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH ISRAEL.

They both intend to fund and arm Israel no matter WHAT they do.

Uni-party on Israel isn't a cliche. So No, I don't see much difference between them.

They both want to spend A Trillion dollars on Nuclear Weapons.

They both over fund the military at the Expense of everything else.

UNI-PARTY UNI-PARTY.

No difference between them on matters of War.

Let's post on Jill's FB page and ask her why she had dinner with Putin and Flynn in 2016!?

Of course, the answer is: Putin and the GOP are financing her campaign. Again.
I hope she chokes on the money after Trump wins again.

Trump still got a good chance at winning. Especially with help from republicans passing legislation at local state levels.

Assuming Harris has the election won is foolish and will leaving you spinning like 2016 did.

#25 | Posted by ClownShack at 2024-09-23 03:22 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

Simple solution. ZERO Dems vote for Stein. If Trumptards wish to, go right ahead...

#26 | Posted by earthmuse at 2024-09-23 08:42 PM | Reply

Republicans are still under the impression that Democrats are voting for Harris because she's a black woman. They figure another woman who's white will make Democrats switch their vote to Stein. Any female Democrat is as about likely to vote for Stein over Harris as they would vote for Palin just like they voted for Hillary. No Democrat ever as far as I know voted for McCain and Palin because she was a woman. No Democrat worth her salt is going to ever vote for Jill Stein, she'll probably take away votes from Trump though. We Democratic women are voting for Harris because of her policies, her gender is just another plus.

#2 Effeteposer THe problem with 3rd party candidates is most of them are truly weird. I've looked at some of the parties and some of them seem to have good policies. Then I dig deeper and find out they believe some humans are lizard people, they believe they have been kidnapped and probed by aliens, or that the Earth is flat. I'm not voting for kooks.

So you're voting for Killers?

Either Party means Ongoing Wars.

On War policy they are in virtual Lockstep.

On Military Spending they are in Lockstep.

On Foreign Policy they both see Enemies Everywhere.

The Military Industrial Merry-go-round is in full play and it's Bi-Partisan.

Nuclear Upgrade is settled policy by Both Parties.

No Arms Control Treaties on the Horizon except the Sunsetting of several.

Why?

Well, you'all can talk all you want about the merits of democracy, but here in the USA the damn electoral college screws it all up. Where else in the world does this happen?

Hardly. She was horrible. She would have been a much better president than Lewzer though.

"Better candidate? Explain losing to that pos."

Maybe I shouldn't have said better "candidate" being as how she lost. But at least as a candidate who lost she accepted the results and conceded and did not try to overturn the results and incite an insurrection. In that way she was a far better candidate.

And Hillary won the popular vote. And she was and is a better person and would have made a better president by far.

More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton than any other losing presidential candidate in US history.

Hillary beat Donald Trump by almost 2.9 million votes, with 65,844,954 (48.2%) to his 62,979,879 (46.1%) in the popular vote.

She made mistakes and her mistakes were not focusing on the electoral college and the needed swing states and properly countering Russian propaganda Trumpy's and republicans lies. Lies which were specifically designed to bring down her poll numbers just enough and that were spread (seeded) for decades previously.

Trump defeated over 16 GOP candidates for the GOP nomination in 2016, many of them far more qualified and competent. Hillary lost the electoral college by almost the same exact number that Joe won it four years later, about 45,000-77,000 votes (www.washingtonpost.com).

The problem is not just Trump, Hillary, or Joe. It's the stupidity of the American voter. Blaming the candidates is just taking the easy way out without recognizing the real issues facing our democracy. We have met the enemy and he is us.
