Excellent choice. This nation needs leaders like we have had in Florida that has made it the best state in the USA to live. Contracts to SOS Rubio! Life is good!

I wouldn't put it past Trump to rip the rug out from under Rubio. But he'd be an idiot take the job. It's two years tops. And you'd preside over the death throes of the international order.

Who cares. It's all going to be a clusterf_ck anyways.

Of the potential list of candidates I saw for the position, I thought Rubio was the best option, which is why I thought Trump would never pick him.

Lil' Marco will be replaced by Ron DeSatanist with another rwing mouthpiece for the FL Ins industry, which runs this state.

There was a sigh of relieve at the State Dept, however, as Rubio has at least one decent quality... he's not foolish enough to be a Nato hater.

"The choice of Rubio will ease concerns among many U.S. diplomats, who had feared that Trump would choose Ric Grenell, a pugnacious former U.S. ambassador to Germany, for the role. Many believed Grenell would be particularly antagonistic toward the department.

"That sound you hear is a tiny sigh of relief," one State Department official said as the news spread."

and

"But Rubio also was a leader in pushing through bipartisan legislation that will make it harder for Trump to pull the U.S. out of the NATO military alliance, as the president-elect has hinted he might try to do."

And so much for Junior's pledge of using his influence to keep neocons out of the cabinet. His pop still humiliates him.

Rubio is a leader?

Of what?

He's not even the leader in his own house.

Why does Lewzer even need a Secretary of State?

Putin gets Ukraine, Netanyahu gets Gaza and Lebanon. China gets Taiwan. What else is there?

Not another FloridaMan

Florida Rep. Michael Waltz is expected to be named Trump's National Security Advisor.

Isn't it funny how all this ---- comes undone during the Biden/Harris administration and the loonies are out in full force criticizing the new guy, because of how he MIGHT try to resolve things.

Leaders? You're not talking about the guy who cozied up to a POS like Trump even after he publicly humiliated his wife as a leader, are you?

TBH, I'm not convinced Rubio is confirmed as the guy. The MSM likes to run with rumors, and it could be that they're feed rumors to gauge reactions.

HuffPo Articke says:

"Little Marco" is a Cuban American but don't call him Latino brcause Cubans think they are superior to all other nationalities of the Hispanic world south of the US border. They all supported Trump who wants to round up all the other immigrants from Mexici or South America and Cubans are fine with that. I used to know and resprvt many Cuban Americans, emphasis on "used to."

Hey, remember when Trump was the Anti-War president?

Now he appoints a war hawk.

Hilarious.

How do Muslims who voted for Trump equate Trump hiring Rubio?

Hasn't Rubio basically and completely backed Israel?

So the guy who had a Muslim ban and wants to make a parking lot of Gaza/Palastine get their vote.

I would never work for anybody that has insulted my wife. Rubio is a coward and will be a huge embarrassment representing the country abroad.

It's pretty funny, really, how some people are SO happy that one of the VERY WORST Presidents Ever, as rated by Presidential Historians... is Pres again.

Imagine the level of Authoritarian misanthropes he will appoint to Leadership roles.... oh, wait.

You don't have to imagine.

#25 | Posted by Corky at 2024-11-12 04:51 PM | Reply

If confirmed, the clock will start to see how long Rubio lasts in the position ;).

No one ever lasts long according to the previous Trump administration, which makes you wonder why any career politician would resign from a Senate or Gubernatorial position for an appointed position.

#26 | Posted by GOnoles92 at 2024-11-12 04:52 PM | Reply

Let's face it. The shelf life for Trump appointees does not to be more than a year or two.

Personally, I think Rubio would be a fool to accept the job.

Anybody not a complete loyalist is a fool to take a position, because the potential is great for Trump to either ask for something unethical, illegal, or otherwise embarrass you by a firing.

Little Marco.....don't think I could look at my boss in the eye after being demeaned that way.

It's way up there, that potential... but it may be that being an honorable public servant is passe with the voters; that all you have to do is bully people and lie to them, and be a Loyalist to Trump, who will Pardon them if anyone ever really minds that they are criminals and traitors.

#29 | Posted by Corky at 2024-11-12 05:13 PM | Reply

Like all of Trump's hires, the position comes with it's own cozy space under the Orange Bus. I doubt Lil' Marco makes it to the Mid-terms.

Well, I suppose Marco could run for Governor of Florida....

#31 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2024-11-12 05:43 PM | Reply

When our elected leaders are obvious criminals and traitors, not to mention they are also minions of the Republican Est, who LOVE them some more than slightly illiterate Trumpers... some of whom themselves lamely claim to be against the Oligarchs and for the People.

While giving billionaires tax cuts. In case no one mentioned it, that crap don't trickle down on nobody... it stays where it first goes. And these Trump voters will be the one's paying it back, along with the rest of us; paying down the debts and deficits it creates.

Then, when Trump has spent it all and more, The voters will put Dems back in to recovery GOP tax cutting for the wealthy,

Rinse and repeat, as in the past 60 years or more.

That is valid. Rubio has always struck me as a social climber because beyond his foreign policy positions, most of his other issue by issue positions are subject to current polling (if election season), or whatever is asked to him by party leadership. He has some independent bipartisan legislative efforts, to demonstrate his ability to work across the aisle, etc, etc, but absolutely falls in line when needed.

Governor in FL is term limited. IMO, his senate position is a relative guide path to career stability until retirement, as the senior senator of Florida.

Of the two senators in FL, I'd judge that Rubio is the more stable-adult one than skeletor Scott.

With regard to my claims of Rubio's issue by issue fluidity, in a book authored by him upon his debut Senate run over a decade ago, " 100 Innovative Ideas for Florida's Future," he mentioned the optimistic potential for renewal energy to grow as an industry to combat the worsening severity of climate change.

Nowadays: "climate change, what is that?"

Only one example, lol
