From the cited article ...

... Many Cuban-Americans in Florida voted for Trump. This news will cause mixed feelings ...

Seeing the travel ban extended to Cuba will cause both celebration and consternation in Florida.

Many conservative Cuban-American voters gave Donald Trump their vote in November and carried the state for him easily in the election. They have long advocated for harsh sanctions against the island's government and its leadership.

For its part, the Cuban government staunchly disputes its classification as a "state sponsor of terrorism" - the reason cited by the White House for the island's inclusion in the ban. It says the entire premise is unjust and intended to further harm its economic interests by forcing its isolation from the international banking system.

However, the idea that ordinary Cubans applying to reach the US through family reunification, or under other visas and legal pathways, might be prevented from doing so by this decision may stick in the craw of many Cuban-Americans, even in Miami -- the home of anti-Cuban Government sentiment.

There is already a growing resentment among some in Florida at seeing the Trump administration deport Cubans back to Cuba. They have always enjoyed a privileged migration status in the US, stretching back to the Kennedy administration. ...

From the cited article, there is also this ...

Trump issues travel ban specifically targeting Harvard

... Along with the travel restrictions on 19 countries that Trump announced tonight, he has also signed an order to restrict foreign student visas at Harvard, his latest attack in an escalating row with America's oldest university.

"President Trump wants our institutions to have foreign students, but believes that the foreign students should be people that can love our country," the White House said in a fact sheet.

The fact sheet alleged Harvard was the top overseas academic institution for Chinese Communist Party officials, noting that President Xi Jinping's own daughter had studied there in the 2010s.

The Trump administration last month tried to revoke Harvard's certification to enrol foreign students on campus under the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP).

But a federal judge blocked that order and the Trump administration said it would give Harvard 30 days to prove it meets the requirements. ...

Funny how Egypt, where the Boulder firebomb terrorist came from escaped the list.

Wouldn't have anything to do with el-Sisi being one of Putin's bff's. Nah, I'm just sure that is a coincidence.

"President Donald Trump has reinstated and expanded a travel ban targeting citizens from 12 countries, citing national security concerns following a recent terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. The National Iranian American Council (NIAC) told Newsweek the move would "not make America safer."

However, the country of origin of the attacker"Egypt"is notably absent from the list, raising questions about the ban's effectiveness and underlying motivations."

WASHINGTON: Donald J. Trump's sweeping travel ban has proven totally unnecessary as the rest of the world has shown no interest in visiting what it deems to be a -------- country, travel experts confirmed on Thursday.

"When people plan vacations, they usually avoid countries with soaring prices, random arrests on the street, and measles outbreaks," Harland Dorrinson, an international travel expert said.

Additionally, he said, "Travel-wise, people prefer destinations where food undergoes rigorous inspections and planes don't fall out of the sky."

Noting that travel to the US had plummeted since Trump became president, he added, "At this point North Koreans are staying away."

I feel safer already with the Travel ban! Wonder what Trump will say when the banned nation set up reciprocal travel bans?

Is there a pandemic we haven't been told about? This might have been appropriate to try and slow that pandemic. But what is global the emergency we are trying to prevent now?

Is this so we don't get their colored ick on us?

these "common sense restrictions" will "protect Americans from dangerous foreign actors"

Oh I see. Trumpy is afraid of them! Trumpy is afraid of foreigners. What a flipping coward. And now he wants the rest of us to be afraid.

Be very very afraid of the Other!

That's how facism works best.

Trump's travel bans are back, but Trump being stupid and mean never left us.

We know the man well enough to do that this is the sort of dramatic rabbit he likes to pull out of a hat when he is desperate and losing.

Six months into his term and he has a failed presidency, one that is on the verge of failing more direly yet.

Trump has to think of himself as a big and powerful man, so he's found a new way to pick on people.

Feels so good to finally have someone in office who is doing something. Something that sounds and feels right.

Trump Appoints 22-Year-Old Ex-Gardener and Grocery Store Assistant to Lead U.S. Terror Prevention

Thomas Fugate, who graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio just 12 months ago, is currently heading up the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships at the DHS, as first reported by ProPublica Tuesday.

But according to the youngster's LinkedIn page, Fugate has almost no experience in this field"and in 2020 was working as a self-employed 'Landscape Business Owner.'
There isn't much else on his resume to suggest Fugate has the requisite skills to weed out terrorists. Prior to his work as a gardener"while studying for a degree in politics and law"Fugate worked at an H-E-B supermarket in Austin, Texas, as a 'Cross Functional Team Member.'

There is a bit of crossover on this list with "Conflict Minerals" nations in Central Africa.

I am surprised Trump hasn't removed the Conflict Minerals reporting requirements at the SEC.

That would be good for my 401(K).

"Mr. President, on your new travel ban, why now? And if the Boulder attack was part of your reasoning, why not include Egypt on that list where the suspect was from?"

This one and only time this country was ever attacked on home soil was under the careful watch of the glorious republicl0wn leadership of GW Bush-turd2... by the brother of a former business associate... after he was warned of an impending attack and chose to ignore it. He then started a new and unnecessary war... based on info delivered by a disgruntled expat cab driver.
