I wish he was a senator and that there were 10 more of him in both the House and the Senate.

>we simply cannot afford to perpetuate a system in Washington where politicians and bureaucrats make decisions behind >closed doors, with little accountability for the consequences; where billions are squandered on programs that have >outlived their usefulness, or exist solely because of the power of a lobbyist or interest group

Do you agree with this statement?

in the coming weeks, I will be announcing the elimination of dozens of government programs shown to be wasteful or ineffective. In this effort, there will be no sacred cows, and no pet projects. All across America, families are making hard choices, and it's time their government did the same.

That is why I have assembled a team of management, technology, and budget experts to guide us in this work " leaders who will help us revamp government operations from top to bottom and ensure that the federal government is truly working for the American people.

So let me get this straight,

This dimwitted old man is outraged that Elon (or the GOP) wanted to 'privatize' Social Security Fund by investing it in the stock market rather than having it forcibly borrowed to the US government earning a 2.5% annual return? This guy, and the liberals on this site, do realize that if the Fund was invested in the S&P back in 2000 when it the S&P was ~1,500 and the Fund was ~$800B, it that amount would have grown to $3.0T today vs. the $1.4T the government return provided? In short, we would not be looking at the SS being in default in less than a decade. If we would have invested in the S&P in 2000 for the existing funds AND used the subsequent annual transfers since then, we would have ~$12T in the Fund, or 'lock box', now which would have made it the world's largest sovereign wealth fund. But nope, dumb Democrats demanded that 2.5% interest rate. You really can't fix stupid.

Telling that it is the Democrats that are screaming about eliminating fraud and waste in government.

#9 But that would make sense. Problem is Washington wouldn't be able to get their hands on it.

"Can't discern between something getting done ... "

Fat talk from someone who can't provide an example.

Where have they found fraud? We already know they're telling people with nothing but stellar reviews they've been fired for performance. What else are they lying to us about?

After the Republicans succeed in getting the government down to the size of a baby they could drown in the bathtub, I wonder what their plans are for the baby.

Does any liberal on this site think that loaning SS money to the government at a 2.5% interest rate was the right move as opposed to investing it in the stock market or running it like a sovereign wealth fund? Or hell, like CalPERS or CalSTRS or TIAAF-CREF? Can we all at least agree that restricting the SS Fund to only lending to the government at a 2.5% rate for the last 30 years has been colossally stupid and cost SS recipients trillions of dollars?

King Trump rules?

Gold Everywhere: See How Donald Trump Has Blinged Out the Oval Office
www.newsweek.com

... President Donald Trump has transformed the traditionally minimalist Oval Office into a setting that reflects his personal brand -- ornate, lavish and filled with gold flourishes. From the fireplace mantle to the side tables, the iconic space has taken on a distinctly Trumpian look, echoing the interiors of his signature Trump Tower in New York and his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Whereas former President Joe Biden opted to spread his fewer public events around the White House grounds " from the East Room to the Rose Garden to the traditional Oval Office setting -- President Trump has been using the "Oval" as the backdrop for media availabilities and working meetings at least several times a week and sometimes hosting multiple events there a day.

And while it is not uncommon for a new president to redecorate the Oval, photos taken by the press during those events -- and compared to images from prior administrations -- suggest Trump has made some of the most extensive changes to the room's appearance in modern presidential history, adding gold vermeil figurines to the mantle, gold medallions affixed to the fireplace, gilded Rococo mirrors over the doors and gold eagles perched on side tables. ...

They also don't care about reducing the size of government.

When has that happened? At either a Federal or State level?

It's not as if republicans even need to make that promise. It's just assumed or nobody cares anyway.

I trust under DOGE that the government can be reduced for the first time in the nation's history. Meanwhile, the Dems run to judges to stop any firing or cut screeching how this will kill people. It is the equivalent to saying that the DMV can't cut 10% because it is the model of peak efficiency and that a 10% cut will cause all license issuing to stop. No one would believe that because the DMV is a running joke because of how inefficient it is and the fact that pretty much every American has witnessed that inefficiency first hand. However, Dems still think there is no fat to cut in the rest of government. I am a realist and have worked in private industry. I would say that EVERY large private company could cut 10% or more of the workforce and have NO IMPACT on productivity. I would say that number is equal, or likely, much higher in the government since downsizing has never occurred. This concept is foreign for liberals as I sense they have never worked for a successful company.
