State and federal officials announced on Monday that 10 people were arrested for engaging in a "planned ambush" on an ICE detention facility in Texas over the Fourth of July holiday. The individuals were charged with attempted murder of a federal officer, according to court records. The incident occurred at the Prairieland Detention Facility in Alvarado, Texas, on Friday, according to Nancy Larson, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas. At approximately 10:37 p.m., 10 to 12 individuals dressed in black, military-style clothing began shooting fireworks and engaging in acts of vandalism at the facility, Larson said during a press conference.

Yeah the whole "ICE instead of law enforcement" thing concerns me.

While i am not saying that these charges my not be justified, I am saying that ICE seems to be able to go beyond the legal police guidelines in their interactions with people. Maybe even to the point of provoking violence instead of quelling it.

Why it matters: Since Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was created after the 9/11 attacks, its agents have operated with vastly more enforcement power, less transparency and fewer guardrails than local police. ...

Not sure what your current alias is trying to say.

But, I'll go with...

I have been listening to BBC news for decades, even before the Internet occurred, in the 19060's, 70' and 80's via shortwave radio.

The BBC reporting is very good to excellent, imo.

That aside.

Border Report Live: Agents shoot, kill gunman at Border Patrol facility

... Agents shot and killed a 27-year-old man who opened fire at a U.S. Border Patrol facility on Monday in McAllen, Texas.

The shooting happened shortly before 6 a.m. at the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector Annex, which is connected to McAllen International Aiport. ...

So, similar if not quite identical, to the BBC reporting.

Now, if I may ask, what was your current alias trying to say in the #7 quote I cited?

thx.

ICE is raiding a farm in CA right now - rounding up the people that are harvesting and caring for our food.

The Trump admin says that the people on Medicaid can take their jobs. Of course that neglects that people on Medicaid don't live near there, the vast majority are already working, and the ones that aren't are caring for elderly members of their family, or disabled relatives, or are going to school to better themselves and get out of poverty, and on and on.

Trump is evil and so are the people he's surrounded himself with. Opportunistic demons and ghouls like Stephen Miller. Noem. Bondi. Patel. Hegseth. etc.

What is truly a shame is that journalism and news agencies have deteriorated so much that the impact of the immigration pogrom isn't being properly reported.

This policy is having a transformative effect on our economy, yet there very few stories about the actual impact.

There should be many, many stories about labor shortages, farm failures, crops wasting in the field, empty supermarkets (or the coming thereof).

Just, yet another problem of the current age.

The unemployment rate is 4.1% in Texas

The "natural" unemployment rate for Texas is between 4 and 5.5%

Meaning Texas is essentially at full employment-the "natural" unemployment rate includes people between jobs, dealing with life issues and unable to work

Texas has around 15,100,000 workers

Undocumented workers make up about 9% of the total workforce or about 1,359,000 workers

Texas will have to make up around 1.3 million workers to replace undocumented and have 619,000 people out of work for various reasons.

That is a shortfall of around 700,000 workers if they had 100% employment, which is madness

Are there 1,359,000 Medicaid fraudsters in Texas?

It is ALMOST like this is a poorly thought out policy

Left-Wing versus Right-Wing Extremism
Of these three ideologies, most prior research has contrasted those committed to right-wing and left-wing causes. Much of this research suggests that compared to left-wing extremists, right-wing extremists may be more likely to engage in politically motivated violence. In comparison to left-wing supporters, right-wing individuals are more often characterized by closed-mindedness and dogmatism (9) and a heightened need for order, structure, and cognitive closure (5). Because such characteristics have been found to increase in-group bias and lead to greater out-group hostility (10), violence for a cause may be more likely among proponents of right-wing ideologies. In contrast, in comparison to their right-wing counterparts, left-wing individuals score higher on openness to new experiences, cognitive complexity, and tolerance of uncertainty (5). They are also less likely to support social dominance (11), which could lead to their overall lower likelihood to use violence against adversaries. In line with this reasoning, some studies have demonstrated an empathy gap between liberal and conservative individuals (12).

They aren't being "kidnapped" nor are rights being denied. They don't have a "right" to reside in this country.

" Until then, we're only going to see escalations by both sides."

ICE exercising their lawful duties doesn't justify any attempt to murder them. There is zero justification for what just happened. None. Under Biden they were instructed to facilitate entry (catch and release) in many instances. Folks were rightly angered by it but attempting to change how they performed their jobs by intimidation via a vis murder was never an option.

I cannot believe you are justifying this. Don't like the policy? Call your rep. Protest. Take it to the courts. Volunteer your time for the midterms and 2028. Win at the ballot box.

What rights does the Constitution give to "people" who reside in this country.

Where does the Constitution say what you claim, that people who reside in this country without the permission of the United States are no longer subject to the laws of the United States including the laws conferring the rights in the Constitution.

By your legal rationale, if such a person were to commit a Federal crime, they could not be charged with it. Because you just said they are not subject to the laws of the United States.
