"Canada had "financially retaliated" to earlier duties"

That's what it means to have a trade war.

Trump always seems amazed when other people just don't follow his orders.

I know that Putin has a laugh over that.

From what I've been hearing, goods under the USMCA treaty may not be subject to this new tariff.

That's about 60% of the goods we receive from Canada.

www.politico.com

... A White House official, granted anonymity to discuss the negotiations, said the administration plans to impose the tariff only on goods that do not comply with the 2020 USMCA, though the ultimate details will be up to Trump to decide. ...

Awful news for Republicans. It will be harder to collapse Canada's economy that originally anticipated.

We have a 35% tariff on Canada
We want Canada to be 35% more like Cuba.

No country, single handedly, can stand against the economic might of the US. However, together, they have a chance. They need to band together and put their response to Trump tariffs on automatic and move on to other, more pressing issues i.e. codify into law that they will impose the exact same tariff rate that the US imposes. After that law has been put into place, break off any further negotiation with the US until a new POTUS is installed.

Doing a real bang up job there dipshit Canucks - keep your current government and get that food insecurity rate up to 50%! You have doubled it in the last 25 years, you can double it again!

"Food Insecurity (2023):
25.5% of the population (~10 million, ~4 million households) faced marginal, moderate, or severe food insecurity, up from 18.4% in 2021, reflecting rising costs outpacing income"
www150.statcan.gc.ca

In 2020, 1 in 4 children were living in poverty.
Single adults are more likely to live in poverty. 30.7% of single adult males in poverty, and 35.5% of single adult females living in poverty.

BTW, the Canadian numbers are so terrible that University of Waterloo had to stop publishing its quality of life index in 2014, the country has had ZERO productivity growth since 2019, and has the lowest OECD expected GDP growth of ~0.7% annually through 2060 (lowest among 38 members).

This is because Snow Mexicans have doubled down on their libtard government that has a 15 year track record of producing these exact same results. They did this to 'get Trump'...

Meanwhile, 'elbows up' has been transformed into 'face down, ass up' as the US imposed economy killing tariffs on the country - and your unemployment rate (adjusted to US standards) is 20% higher than the US and that is before the full impact of the tariffs kill your auto industry.

The top U.S. imports from Canada include crude oil, refined gas, natural gas, motor oil, auto parts, electricity, raw aluminum, sawed wood (2x4, 2x6 etc), fertilizer for farming, and much more.

Home and auto insurers will likely be raising premiums due to more expensive building materials and auto parts.

The top imports from Canada are literally things WE ALREADY HAVE HERE but choose to import because of ridiculous liberal regulatory and trade policies. All that changes with Trump - we don't need shit from Canada. There is a reason why 80% of your total population lives 100 miles from the US border - because you are totally reliant parasites. We tolerated you when you were howdy-doody nice people - but, you have transformed into the slightly more ignorant version of the US liberal left. Well, we are going to let you take the full force of your voting. We cut you off and you can go hitch your wagon the economic illiterates in Europe.

Home prices in the US are going to decrease with the illegals deported as demand drops (for rentals mainly) offset by slightly higher costs on labor as it will now be done by Americans.

Just because ring worm always existed does not justify letting it continue to spread on your body.

Why are liberals so interested in what other countries think about you? Your virtue signaling in the US is bad enough - but your constant obsession over how dipshit Europeans or Canadians think about you is wild. Is it because your fathers were absent or didn't love you?

In the case of you and Clownshack, I think your homosexuality (closeted for you, militant for Clownshack) probably played a role in that. A good game of catch with your dad would have made your lives turn out much better.

Illegal immigrants aren't the reason houses are expensive.

Just like they're not the reason minimum wages are so low.

You're an idiot.

Ask Grok for help.

"Illegal immigrants aren't the reason houses are expensive.
#38 | Posted by ClownShack"

Yes, they are. They are not the ONLY reason, but they are the MAJOR reason. At the median price home and below, the houses have a much higher % used as rentals. The price of the house will ALWAYS be a rental multiple (CAP Rate model). The higher the rental potential for a house, the higher the price. Thus, when illegals are renting (they are not living in tents), they created artificial rental demand, and thus, artificial pricing pressure on homes. This is the same exact reason why AirBNB drives up housing prices - it is the rental yield potential that drives up the home value.

Obviously, you are a lifelong renter so you don't understand this concept.

#39 | Posted by ScottS at 2025-07-13 12:15 AM | Reply

they are the MAJOR reason.

No they're not.

You're also the idiot who believes minimum wage is low because of undocumented immigrants. That billionaires will suddenly become generous once undocumented workers are no longer in the country.

Like I said above - how about you try again with logic or data?

#43 | Posted by ScottS at 2025-07-13 12:38 AM | Reply

Trump closing the border

How exactly did he do this?

deporting illegals

Biden deported more and didn't waste billions flying them to El Salvador or building concentration camps in Florida.

Face it. Trump is a loser.

So are you.

"American automakers have a significant presence in Canada, particularly in Ontario, where they operate assembly plants and contribute to a highly integrated North American automotive industry. While Canada doesn't have its own major auto brand, its plants primarily serve the US market, with about 85% of Canadian vehicle production being exported to the US."
