Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, August 15, 2025

Democracy Docket: Masked and armed federal agents made arrests outside a press conference that Gov. Gavin Newsom was giving to announce plans to redraw California's congressional map to offset the GOP's unprecedented mid-term redistricting plans in Texas. "Right outside, at this exact moment, are dozens and dozens of ICE agents," Newsom said. "You think it's coincidental? Donald Trump and his minions decided, coincidentally or not, that this was a location to advance ICE arrests."

"Newsom also acknowledged the raid during his speech.

"Right outside, at this exact moment, are dozens of dozens of ICE agents," Newsom said, the crowd booing in response. "Donald Trump ... you think it's coincidental?"

"No!" the crowd fired back."

-

"We know what Donald Trump knows: He's going to lose the midterms. He knows, de facto, his presidency ends in seventeen months, when Speaker [Hakeem] Jeffries is back in the House," Newsom continued.

"He's a failed president. Who else sends ICE at the same time we're having a conversation like this? Someone who's weak. Someone who's broken. Someone whose weakness is masquerading as strength. The most unpopular president in modern history."

Newson is right"ICE at his event was no coincidence. Trump and the governor have traded barbs for years now, and it only looks to be ratcheting up even further now."

Just wait until ICE fully staffs up with 18-year-olds who want to wear a mask and carry a gun, and then is deployed to start ~patrolling~ voting stations on Election Day.

What could possibly go wrong?

Led Zeppelin tune covered by a reggae band with a lead singer who is an Elvis impersonator. (you can't make this stuff up...)

Black Dog - Dread Zeppelin (1990)
www.youtube.com

You likely already know the lyrics.

And, fwiw, the Un-Led-Ed album whence this tune came is quite, ummm, I'll say, different.

But fun to listen to, imo.

Again, no lyrics should be needed.

Harris was Vice President so she became the nominee but Republicans beware the Dems will have a strong candidate in 2028 even if Dictator Wannabe Trump tries to run again; I almost hope he does because I'd love to see him totally rejected and humiliated; his only way to avoid that fate is to die while still in office which would actually improve his popularity.

My guess is he sees this as his step into the national spotlight for 2028 run. Saving the country.

Feel free to point out who decides to file charges and why.

Since you appear to be a "special needs" person let me help you.

Its the prosecutor's office (typically the District Attorney or a similar state-level office) that ultimately decides whether to file formal charges. This decision is based on an evaluation of the evidence, applicable laws, and the prosecutor's judgment regarding whether a conviction is likely and whether pursuing the case is in the interest of justice

See, it turns out that co-operating with the Feds immediately, is different than lying about possession, lying about what was returned, having lawyers lie about what was still possessed, and enlisting others to obstruct justice by moving evidence.

I've always distinguished between opinions and beliefs. People mistakenly interchange those terms but they are very different.

opinions can be changed....beliefs? cemented down a bit.

But it's not like the millions of people who should have voted against Trump had their minds made up of something else.

It's just that they didn't care enough to vote that time. And that's saying something considering they had 4 years of the guy as president. That wasn't enough to get them off their butts to prevent another 4 years.

My patriotism colored everything I did.

As for what I can do now? Support my people and enjoy my "golden years" as best I can while the world burns. Sitting on the deck and getting a good buzz on and talk about the weather was what I had planned. But looks like I may have to go out with a bang. Who knows.

But like the old man with the white horse said.

We'll see.

Because I ain't dead yet and it ain't over until its over.

What have you done for America? Except sit on fence poles. That can't be comfortable.

How can a President who lost his reelection stage a coup and get away with it?

I have a theory. Or maybe it's just a hope. A hope that we fooled ourselves and we will eventually see the error of our decisions and correct course. (But I am not holding my breath for it.)

My theory is that our increased reliance on social media combined with advanced AI algorithms made us vulnerable to hostile foreign governments attempting to influence our elections and foreign and even domestic social media "cyber operations". These and many other factors (Incels just reaching age who don't read and know history) combined to help push Trumpy and his lies right into the WH.

A certain segment of our society has become very susceptible to what I can only describe as propaganda and is unable to discern the truth from the lies anymore.

Hence the saying ... Propaganda Werks (tm).

Thats MY theory and I'm sticking to it!

INSIDE RUSSIA

reasons around 12:30 in, but the rest is telling, including the Russian perspective *see Effeteposer perspective... that Russian internal propaganda has always been that Russia is not at war with Ukraine, they are at war with the US and the West.

So this visit to the US is a Victory Lap for Vlad; his acceptance back into the world community.

And two, the main Russian negotiators to Ukraine ARE NOT IN ALASKA with Putin. The Aides Putin brought are his Economic Advisors.... because his economy is trashed, and he needs a way out.

"American Presidents don't usually invite ICC war criminal indictees to American soil"

"The most well-known instance of Nazi collaborators immigrating to the U.S. was through Operation Paperclip, in which some 1,600 Nazi scientists and engineers were employed by the U.S. government and given residence and citizenship in the ensuing years. German scientist and pioneer of space flight Wernher Von Braun was notably recruited through this program. His contributions to the U.S. space program have been celebrated; Huntsville, Ala., has both a day (Feb. 24) and a 9,000-seat arena named after him. Yet the work that earned him the reputation that enabled his immigration to the U.S. was indefensible. Von Braun contributed to the use of brutal and enslaved labor in the Mittelwerk rocket engineering complex during his time as a Nazi."

And it seems to have paid off, considering we defeated the Soviets in space and in military capability for decades after WWII.

While Trump's actions with regard to Putin are what they are being called, it's not that the US is NOW sending a message to the world's dictators they can get away with what Putin has gotten away with.

It's all about the "now". You could have retracted anytime.......and you want to, really.

But your pride is just toooooo strong. That chip on your shoulder is too important.

We've worked with them before and we'll work with them again.

Who the fuxk did you expect to negotiate with Khruschev to prevent world war 3?

For most of the decades since WWII ended, the world's dictators had to be very careful trying to get away with what what Putin has gotten away with around the world, including in Syria and N Africa... BECAUSE THAT WAS AMERICA'S MESSAGE!

Trump just buried that message for good, and you think it's a Nothing Burger, nothing new NOW.

I didn't say 'bad people', Nancy. I said, there's an ICC warrant out on Vlad, to have him arrested in most countries in the world.

Beverly loves to purposely misunderstand you or try and put his words in your mouth.

All the arrest warrants for the Russian war criminal is one of the main reasons they had to meet in Alaska.

A ------ of people were pissed at Kennedy over that, and the Bay of Pigs, the nuclear test ban treaty, the policy to stay out of Vietnam, reducing the reach of the CIA, etc.

It's why some cheered when he was killed. Horrible time for our country.

I visited the 6th floor depository building museum last weekend. My daughter lives not far from it at all.

Bay of Pigs ... Vietnam ... Blah blah blah.

Are those goalposts heavy?

The fact is this is NOT NORMAL.

NORMALLY for any summit of these type of negotiations are made BEFORE hand. Agreements are made BEFORE hand and the parties then agree to meet to sign the agreements. They may negotiate for more agreements which will require more negotiations and more meetings and another summit.

But the proof will be in the pudding. And while you might enjoy Trumpy's brown stuff I'd recommend not eating any of it.

Let's see what Trumpy can do. Time will tell. As you may or may not know ... Time heals all wounds and wounds all heels.

And we are being forced to fight fire with fire again.

I can do it. Because I have been a Watcher on the Wall and I understand exactly what is needed to stop an evil deadly adversity like that. Most Americans do not. Ask your favorite AI how many Americans have served. Go ahead and throw in law enforcement if you like. It won't even budge the needle much.

I think FDT is selling out Ukraine today. I think he had a conversation with Putin about how he can sabotage the Los Angeles Olympic Games. I'd be very surprised if he didn't sell out Alaska, as well.

I don't see how e.g. African and South American nations, basically half of the World Cup, can expect their teams to spend an entire month in the United States for the World Cup and not get sent to camps by ICE.

In 1980 the United States boycotted the Moscow Olympics. I would expect that kind of thing to happen in 2026 and 2028, and for the same reasons.

Look at this knuckle dragging drooling fool.

Biden helped Ukraine turn a 3-day Special Operation that was supposed to decapitate the Ukrainian into grueling 3 year+ war that decimated the Russian army.

Trump appears ready to just give Ukrainians sovereignty away.

FDT released 5,000 Taliban terrorists, "negotiated" Afghanistan's surrender, dumped off the retreat to Biden, who did a remarkable job, given that FDT sold the Afghani government out, and just today, sat down with a war criminal who completely owned the USA. Putin humiliated the demented old man, who is clearly alone (his wife won't even travel with him), winning the day. Embarrassing.

That would never have happened with President Harris. We also wouldn't have the military on our streets right now. FDT pardons terrorists and cop killers.

And there you have it.

We don't get shit again. No deal. No ceasefire for Ukraine. No agreement on anything and no questions. And Putin humiliates America again by literally killing Ukrainian men women and children while the two world leaders were having chocolate cake I presume.

Trumpy gets a brief distraction from the Epstein Files and a free trip to Moscow to discuss his new real estate deal.

Yay America

If Putin agrees to a ceasefire it's so he can retrench and then he'll be right back at it. He has nothing to lose.

Trump and Putin reiterating Trump's words that this war never would have happened if Trump was in office was so much of a blatant lie it should smack any anyone's conscience. Facts:

Since Trump has been back in office Putin has escalated his attacks on Ukraine to levels we hadn't seen.
Trump in his first term didn't stop the war. He just lies about it - to this day.
