Kimberly Wehle: Marriage equality is popular, but a lot has changed since Obergefell.

In October the Supreme Court may decide whether or not to hear Kim Davis's case.

Given the current makeup of this court, some believe there is a stronger chance they will accept her case.

However, if this court doesn't agree to hear the case, my opinion is Gay Marriage is likely safe for years to come.

The only reason that Gay Marriage may be at risk would be to Pres Trump's stuffing of the Supreme Court.

Just look at Dobbs, and the judicial gyrations a couple Justices had to go through in an attempt to ~justify~ their opinion.

This is likely one the issues Unkle Thomas is talking about when he disses the whole concept of Precedent when making Law.

Equal Rights for individuals under the law is the goal, not particular agendas.

Lamp,

"The only reason that Gay Marriage may be at risk would be to Pres Trump's stuffing of the Supreme Court."

The alternative was Hillary winning and letting her select the nominees.

If that had occurred I fear the worst case could be possible. We might see the Supreme Court codify women accepting males into their restrooms.

I mean, I never expected to see Gay Marriage pass and it did. I didn't expect it. What else is possible?

If Maybe church doctrine teaching homosexuality is a sin is discrimination and force churches to modify their doctrine or at least stop teaching it? Freedom of Religion might be at risk if liberals could handily win in the Supreme Court. Freedom of Speech could be at risk.

I'm all for gay couples getting legal protection. Don't get me wrong.

However, I feared 3 more liberal judges on the court would probably give them everything they ever wanted.

Hopefully, in October the court will make the right decision.

There's no indication that Hil would have forced churches to teach homosexuality.

Even when you try to change the subject to immigration.

Which makes it even funnier.

Corky,

"There's no indication that Hil would have forced churches to teach homosexuality."

Incomplete sentence but I got what you meant.

Hillary is not who might challenge churches teaching "homosexuality is a sin" and claim it is discrimination at the Supreme Court.

Hillary's part would be putting in 3 crazy left judges.

I'm not deflecting with immigration. I'm using it as something Hillary would have done had she won.

Trump has basically shut down the border.

Hillary would most certainly have opened the border further until all the Governors themselves started picketing the White House.

But let's go back to Gay Marriage.

It's so cute you have to make up scenarios in your head to justify voting for Trump taking away rights.

It really shows how stupid people like you are. "I love the poorly educated."

This one is good too: "We might see the Supreme Court codify women accepting males into their restrooms."

So obsessed. I know you are talking about transitioned women but it's pathetic you have to say it like this. What are you going to do, buddy? Do full body checks to everyone using a public restroom? Is that your dream job? I'm not surprised.

Lamp,

"Huh?"

Yeah....if you need to say "huh?", then you must be oblivious to what's been going on in the news.

Hillary winning would have encouraged immigrants from South America to march towards America in much greater numbers knowing they will be waved through. Hillary would probably put more money into processing centers and then release them into the population with little or no vetting.

Even if they are non-citizens and can't vote, they still count towards how many of representatives each state gets in the House.

Also, we'd likely see more rioting in the streets as liberals feel more empowered.

More chaos.

On the bright side, Charlie Kirk would most likely still be alive.

I also make it clear I am a Christian.

If it seems I discuss homosexuality too much, perhaps I have a subconscious ulterior motive.

Simply put, I want people to know I believe just because the Bible calls homosexuality an "abomination", that's doesn't prevent one from being a real Christian.

I don't shy away from this, like some churches that have chosen to reinterpret the Bible, saying it doesn't say that.

I differentiate between "real" Christians from those who attend churches that hint at Christ or talk about the "spirit of Jesus" saying Jesus is about loving your fellow man without acknowledging the Divinity of the Man.

In my life I have seen friends who were raised Christian and when they discovered they were gay lived in torment.

That is unfortunate and unnecessary.

You're making the same fundamental attribution error you always make.

I don't judge you for being gay -- though I'm not sure I believe you are gay since you only have sex with one woman, and assuming you had sex with men in the past that properly makes you bisexual, but that's another conversation.

I judge you based on your belief that gays are second class citizens in the eyes of G-d.

You are the same as ISIS on that topic. You just don't have the balls to throw the ------- off the roof. But you would if our society allowed it.

There are countless paths to condemnation, but only one path to salvation which is acknowledging Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins.

"Gays are condemned to hell if they don't ask forgiveness for their gay sex, is one of the paths."

I'm pretty sure the people you're talking about will have plenty of other sins that make them just as guilty before God as anyone else.

Jesus said if you even look at a woman with lust, you've already committed adultery in your heart. That shows how wide the net is.

Jesus' point, he stressed again and again, was that we're all sinners. Otherwise His mission makes no sense, and he'd be just another man.

He was killed because the Jewish leaders hated Him, and Rome carried out their demand. They felt threatened. He undermined their authority and exposed their hypocrisy

Snoofy....you see you're playing right into their hands when you single out gays as some uniquely abhorrent group beyond salvation.

Hatred for gays runs deep across society and is one of the last widely held groups society finds hard to understand.

Dare I suggest this hatred of homosexuals seems to run just about as deep for some people as those Jewish leaders had for Jesus.

This hatred is based on fear.

Much of the hatred of gays isn't about morality at all. It's fear.

Some straight men fear gays because they see it as a threat to their "masculine credibility".

Fear breeds hatred.

On May 7, 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia (Operation Allied Force), five U.S. Joint Direct Attack Munition guided bombs hit the People's Republic of China embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, killing three Chinese journalists and outraging the Chinese public.[2] According to the U.S. government, the intention had been to bomb the nearby Yugoslav Federal Directorate for Supply and Procurement (FDSP). President Bill Clinton apologized for the bombing, stating it was an accident.
