New York City's suburbs have experienced an uptick in housing demand from wealthy residents in recent months, according to local real estate agents, as high earners scared off by Zohran Mamdani's mayoral primary victory look for plan B within a reasonable distance.

Before this year, Mamdani was hardly a household name. Now, the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist state assemblyman is the man most likely to become New York City's next mayor.

Sure, everyone's clamoring for real estate that will be underwater (literally) in 20 years.

They're not clamoring for real estate. They're looking for a place to shelter their wealth - if you bothered to even skim the article.

Why bother? You're a ------- imbecile.

The pattern in NYC for over a century hasn't changed. When lower income people in Queens "made it," they moved east to "more white" Nassau and Suffolk County; those in Brooklyn moved to "more white" State Island or NJ; those in the Bronx moved to "more white" Yonkers or Westchester County. You can see Nassau County and Staten Island are mini Red States.

Now the rich people in NYC are whining about Zohran Mamdani, a young man who underwent a hunger strike in support of striking NYC taxi drivers.

Poor wealthy people. Sniff, sniff.

Let them leave and pay the higher property taxes in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The landlord/AIPAC/oligarch/GOP clique in NYC is a MNGA movement to secure NYC from the upstart Mohammedan who is putting runs in the panty hose of the status quo. And that status quo is desperate, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at amiable Zohran.

Mamdani continues holding a double-digit lead over corporate shill Andrew Cuomo, a one-trick pony who incessantly bleats Islamophobic talking points. This Judas Iscariot of the Democratic Party will become a three-time loser in just a matter of weeks and will join the odious club of unwelcome pariahs. .

Oy, gevalt. .

The people that say they are moving out because of potentially higher taxes already pay less percent in taxes on their income than the people they say they are moving because of.

At least Mamdani didn't send $40 billion tax payer dollars to Argentina while denying Americans healthcare.

Turds prefers politicans who are beholden to billionaires.

Turds prefers his tax dollars go to the wealthy as subsidies and other countries to prop up failing dictatorships.

"Nothing matters when Trump does it."

What's the end game?

Trump continues destroying American and you win, how?

Billionaires getting additional tax cuts benefits America, how?

You're against Mamdani using tax dollars to help working class Americans because?

Whether or not you're personally doing well doesn't matter if the country fails.

They're looking for a place to shelter their wealth -

Interesting. So the Ayatollah Mamdani is proposing a wealth Tax?

No. That's not what he's proposing.

Rather, "he has proposed creating an additional tax bracket for New York City residents with income over $1 million, which would be taxed at 5.9%.". The current max is 3.876%. www.cityandstateny.com

As a resident of one of those suburbs, I should be concerned about this ... why?

But more to the point, why is the uber-wealthy leaving their residence in NYC such a bad thing?

@#12 ... You're against Mamdani using tax dollars to help working class Americans because? ...

My current opinion, based upon the local TV ads I suffer through (I'm in the NYC media area), seems to be that Republicans really have nothing to throw against Mr Mamdani except that they fear he may be successful in being a Mayor of New York City.

That possible success seems to frighten the Republicans and especially, for some reason, MAGA.
