Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked a motion to advance a Democrat-drafted bill to extend enhanced health insurance premium subsidies that are due to expire at the end of 2025, tax credits that Democrats say are needed to keep premiums from rising by double digits next year. The legislation, which needed 60 votes to advance, failed by a vote of 51 to 48.

I thought the Democrats caved in on the government shutdown to prevent this very disaster from happening.

Who were those eight Democratic caucus members who capitulated to the Republicans?

Everyone knew this was going to happen but 8 moronic Democrats still sold out the entire country for this "promised" vote.

Are you in favor of Trump subverting the midterms?

I ask this because you seem to support any action that keeps the GOP from being honestly competitive.

Congratulations, Republicans.

Republicans NEVER negotiate in good faith.

How many times has this been seen before?

The Eight Democratic Senators, one of which was my former Senator for many years before I moved, were just Cowards.

As soon as the pressure started to build they collapsed and surrendered completely.

???

It made no sense whatsoever at the time.

The Republicans were losing the battle for public opinion.

The vote won't happen.

They prostrated themselves and betrayed the country for NOTHING.

Tim Kaine is Retiring, he's the biggest coward of all.

My former Senator.

No s^*%.

This was the predictable outcome of Corpse Schumer's cave in.

One of the caucus members was geriatric Senator Angus King (I-VT), who sounded terrible on TV defending his vote.

The "I Got Mine" Congressional dinosaurs continue aiding and abetting the "social murder" of us, their fellow citizens.

We're all pleased these dinosaurs enjoy platinum healthcare in Congress while making $174,000 per annum, and will secure for themselves a handsome pension after only five or six years of toiling on Capitol Hill.

KICK ALL OF THESE GERIATRIC DEFENDERS OF THE STATUS QUO OUT OF CONGRESS FORTHWITH!

Actually Democrats built the subsidies, knowing full well they would expire. why not make it never expire?

You don't ask that question do you?
You've been manipulated but just can't come to terms with it.

Blaming the Republicans is funny because they are literally doing nothing.

So, what should have been the solution? Keep the government shut down forever?

Solution implies a problem.

Tell us what the problem is, and you'll have no "problem" identifying the solution.

So, what's the problem?

Obama along with the Democrats came up with a schitty healthcare bill and now they're mad at Republicans for not doing something about it?

We would have been better off doing nothing, instead of passing ACA.

So you're saying
you aren't expecting Republicans
to actually fix anything that's broken.

Hey, neither am I, kid.

I'm not sure if they will or not. But expecting the other party to do something about your party's mistakes is retarded.

If Republicans do fix the issue, can they count on your vote in the future?

I really don't get it.

What's the point of voting for Republicans, if they're not going to fix the mistakes made by Democrats?

Is this one of the bizarre hypotheticals I am so often accused of?

The GOP has cut off its own nuts. It will no more "fix" healthcare than it will prevent Trump from having a war with Venezuela.

Ten years go, vapid Republican Marco Rubio as US Senator from Florida undermined and ------------ the ACA (Obamacare) to make the program fail and make Democrats look bad. Source: Marco Rubio Did This

Republicans and the oligarchs do not want Americans to have universal, or even affordable healthcare, because in our sinister for-profit system, every sick, gunshot-wounded, food-poisoned, unvaccinated, or accident-befallen American makes money for the corporations.

Marco Rubella is an unimaginative good-for-nothing evil Empty Suit who "fell up" his entire political career and Republicans continue perpetrating "Social Murder" on their fellow citizens and permanent residents who are much less fortunate than them.

EOM.

I would absolutely consider voting Republican if they credibly demonstrated a plan for universal health insurance paid for by the government.

Moreso if the Democrats campaigned on behalf of UnitedHealth and Aetna to keep it in private hands.

Roger Marshall wants to convert ACA into Health Savings Accounts. It's like they don't know that many of us can't afford that. Burns me up. It does.

Republican Health care plan : "Just die already"

#20 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-12-11 04:00 PM | Reply: Yup

And that insidious portion of the Republican non-health care plan is to make money for the funeral industry, the repo sector, banks, and vulture capitalists acquiring people's property.

"There's a lot of money in death": theshoestring.org

One AI Snaphot:

"Three million probate cases pass through US courts each year. Florida alone had over 122,000 probate filings in 2017, and other large states report similar or higher volumes."

Worse, credit reports may begin to start listing medical bankruptcy, as if a poor patient meant to be delinquent because they couldn't afford their outrageous medical bills.

Hundreds of thousands of people in America declare medical bankruptcy every year, a problem that the people of Germany, Japan, the UK, Israel, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, or France do not suffer from.

" Actually Democrats built the subsidies, knowing full well they would expire."

Which means Republicans built the "trillions in tax giveaways" knowing full well they would expire.

But Republicans had no problem extending what they wanted, did they?

I am going to ask republicans

Do you consider the US healthcare system a problem?

If so, what plan do you have to address that problem?

Broad strokes are fine.
