More: The package, which is included in the state budget deal announced on Thursday, prohibits state and local officials from entering into formal or informal cooperation agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and forbids law enforcement agents from wearing masks.

The rules also prohibit ICE from using local jails to house detainees and from searching New Yorkers' homes, hospitals, churches and schools without a warrant signed by a judge. But they will not affect the ability of law enforcement officials to coordinate with the agency on public safety issues.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Thursday that the changes were necessary given the extent of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

"They didn't just target hardened criminals and gang members, which I would have supported " we did support," Ms. Hochul said. "They also targeted mothers still nursing their infants, separating them, an 85-year-old widow in her nightgown."

She said that ICE had used intimidation tactics to evade responsibility, adding: "New York will no longer stand for it."

All this has led to immigration being one of Trump's worst polling issues, just below approval for his "handling" of the economy, with tariffs - and now this war - hurting tens of millions of American family budgets with ever rising prices on everything.

I'd wager 100% of these ICE agents, like most cops, refused to wear masks during COVID.

As of May 2026, the Trump administration has removed the high school diploma requirement and age caps for new ICE agents.

Will ICE obey that decision?

Below, ICE agents drag Nigerian Chidozie Wilson Okeke out of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn where this migrant was being treated for injuries.

No matter what the alleged offense Okeke committed, ICE ruffians should not be denying him medical care.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) have no doubt seen this photo of NYPD officers standing around aimlessly while this ejection took place and will come up with a strategy to deal with ICE brutality like this.

Please do.

So, the ICE Police need to be Secret Police, for their own safety...

But other police don't need this level of protection? How many have been attacked or killed because their names are public?

Shouldn't Minnesota Politicians identities be kept secret, after two of them were doxxed and murdered?

If no-masks was good enough for Adolf Hitler's Gestapo, no-masks is good enough for Donald Trump's ICE.

Interesting, because mask use may be seen as an indicator not of something other than a regime's strength. On the contrary, masking parades its weakness.
