5-4?!?

#1 | POSTED BY QCP

These people trip on their own thoughts. It's the worst crew of SC we have ever had.

On the other hand, Donald Trump will spend the day -------- his diappers.

Holding on by a thread.

A 5-4 Decision isn't very reassuring given that birthright citizenship is IN THE TEXT OF THE CONSTITUTION.

All of our Traditional Freedoms are in play.

Freedom of Speech is Questionable if it's Speech Trump hates.

Freedom of Assembly is Questionable if the Assembly is deemed to be "Terrorists" by Trump.

The Separation of Powers is Questionable when Trump starts Wars without even Informing Congress and Rules by Decree only occasionally Reined in by the Courts.

The Inherent flaws in the American System are being systemically Weaponized by the Trump Regime to consolidate power In One Tiny Handed -------.

Who likes this state of Affairs?

Who Benefits from it?

Oligarchs and Corporations in General, and Trump picked Enterprises in PARTICULAR.

Crony Capitalism and Corporate Monopoly, consolidation of the Media by 5 major Players.

It's almost like they Had a PLAN?...

This is Coup in real time.

This should have been a 9-0. The amendment is in plain English.

Realistically, 8-1, since Thomas is bought.

Let me guess...

The four dissenters... Alito, Clearance Thomas, Keggenaugh and Gorsuch.

The fact this ruling was not 9-0 is a disgrace.

Article on MSN states "the ruling was 6-3, but the court was split 5-4 on whether Congress could vote to do away with birthright citizenship. But the decision was not unanimous. Three conservative judges dissented " Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch " saying the executive order should stand"

So basically like Bush v Gore. That ruling was 7-2, but they were split 5-4 on whether to do an equally dubious alternative .

It should be 9-0.

It should also be 535-0 to pass an amendment to fix the amendment.

On topic I think Thomas nails it but I understand the process-textual-oriented opinion of the majority on this.

A legislative remedy is still an option.

IMO this ruling degrades the meaning of being a United States citizen.

Why? Nothing has changed.

Because Europeans believe only they should be allowed to be considered Americans.

Please elaborate. Why does he nail it on the way he reads this amendment but that same style of reading doesn't apply to the 2nd amendment? How can we decide they only meant one type of people in the 14th but that it was any and all guns in the 2nd?

#33 | Posted by justagirl_idaho at 2026-07-02 01:42 PM | Reply

They want "Citizenship" to be some kind of special privilege.

Like in Starship Troopers. Only Veterans of the Bug Wars were actual Citizens in that Dystopia.

Only Propertied White Males were Citizens in the early days of the Republic.

They want a huge Population of Disenfranchised Servants and cheap labor that's constantly Afraid of being Deported, like they have in The Gulf Monarchies or Israel.

People here as "Guests", only Whites offered "Citizenship".

If they are Rich enough, Obviously.
