Well that's quite a different take than yesterday!

Most people being deported aren't being found guilty of breaking any immigration law.

There's no trial, no criminal conviction.

There are some people deported for breaking non-immigration laws, like writing bad checks. Including people whose immigration law record is spotless.

People like the five year old boy and his father, both here legally, no immigration laws broken. Still taken by ICE and flown to camps at the other end of the country.

California taxes you on money you make in California. New York City does the same thing. When I was a kid, mom was paying New York City income tax on her New York City job while living in New Jersey.

I can't remember if California technically taxes everybody (non-Californian) like this, or if it's targeted at high salary people like pro athletes and Taylor Swift. So if California is being discretionary, then California is actually better than NYC, if you think this is unfair. Unless you think it's extra unfair to only tax the rich, which Republicans probably do.
