I agree, but why, if the thesis was addressing the facts?
You typed it, and your wife from what you say stays immersed in historical subjects, which seem to inform your thoughts.
Why would facts be discussed in a different tone today than 30 or 40 years ago? Would you say the same for the natural sciences, or are you closed out from opinions there because your wife isn't a scientist?
Surely you've known people without formal credentials you still consider experts.

The point Doc, I think, is making, is just because your wife has an MA doesn't make her one. If he's not making that point, I will.
A master's degree doesn't impress me. I read stuff from full professors who can't figure out how to write a footnote.
