We, the sane citizens of the United States, must put a stop to Trump and MAGA. We can do that or live in Hell for the next four or forty years.

Sounds like a miscarriage of justice.

#2 | Posted by sentinel at 2024-09-24 09:56 AM

Now this is where I break with the 100% life people. She may not have done anything wrong. This is where a judge is supposed to have justice in mind. The justice would be she not be looked at for murder.

The South has gone crazy with their treatment of women.
Rolling back the clock to the 1930's. Next up, they will try to strip women of the vote.

She may not have done anything wrong.

But the police state still needed to investigate. Right?

Some of them are already discussing that.

Of course. Guilty until proven innocent and Big Government in the Bedroom are two of the 21st Century GOP rallying cries.

These women need to be punished.

Marsh was initially held without bail and denied house arrest until securing a $75,000 surety bond the following June.

The facts did not support the allegations, her defense team said. Marsh's attorney, Columbia Democratic state Rep. Seth Rose, said there was no evidence the abortion drugs she allegedly received played any part in the death of the fetus " a stance which led the case to be disposed of last month.

"What was being alleged was not what the evidence showed," he said in an interview.

So a college student has to come up with bail, then hire an attorney to prove herself innocent for a miscarriage.

Welcome to MAGAt world.

yet boaz will vote republican up and down the ballot including for a governor that would enslave him.

#8 Nixon.

I'm no longer laughing. This election is ridiculously close,
FAR FAR too close for any SANE NATION.

What a lovely racist piece of ----- Nation the Donald has revealed.
We have to do EVERYTHING to make sure that monster doesn't get in the
White House again.

What's wrong with this? The people of the state decided. State's rights, amiright?

The South has gone crazy with their treatment of women.

Agreed, Kudzu, lives there, just look at how he treats his exs.

Call me crazy, but this article doesn't match every other article about this situation.

She wan't charged?

ORANGEBURG " A state grand jury declined to pursue charges against a former South Carolina State University student accused of murder after her baby died following a premature birth, ending a legal saga that drew attention from national anti-abortion groups.

Amari Marsh was a 22-year-old college student in February 2023 when she travelled to an Orangeburg-area hospital after experiencing pain in her abdomen connected to her pregnancy. She left the emergency room and suffered a miscarriage the following morning while on the toilet.

Charges dropped.
The reality of the hell the state put her through remains as a lesson on the destructiveness of these laws.

" The warrant also cites as the cause of death "respiratory complications" due to a premature delivery stemming from a maternal chlamydia infection. "

your argument is that shes a black whore for having an STD. nice.

i cant imagine why the republican party cant get black or female voters. its a hardy boys mystery.

#19 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2024-09-24 12:02 PM

This is such a clear pattern in these red states. Utter disregard for the woman. For her rights. For her autonomy. A concerted effort to make women second class citizens at best.

#20 | Posted by YAV at 2024-09-24 12:02 PM

" god it had to be crying..."

if it died of respiratory issues how could it cry?

Judges dont make the law. They have to apply the insane laws passed by your insane christofascist cult.

Historically, birth outcomes for Black women in Orangeburg County, where Marsh lost her pregnancy, have ranked among the worst in South Carolina.

If it was still alive when EMS arrived, how could it not have cried?

#26 | Posted by beef_supreme

Because it isn't formed enough 16-18 weeks premature to cry? Or really live outside mom for long?

Did you think being born that premature means its a fully developed baby but just smaller?

It showed signs of life when EMS arrived. That's not saying much.

She was charged. But when taken to a grand jury, the grand jury decided not to continue the charge.

In South Carolina, you are initially charged and THEN it goes to the grand jury to either True Bill (confirm) or No Bill (drop) the charge.

She spent 22 days in jail and was released with an ankle monitor.

Have no doubt:
this is America after Trump is re-elected, which he probably will be. (Thanks again for nothing, Cornel West and Jill Stein).

Get ready; 2017-2021 is NOTHING compared to what Trump II will be like.

Stories like this need to be kept on the front page. Republicans can't stand them because they're a daily reminder of the horrible thing they did when they voted for trump.

What? Trump says "everybody wanted this" ... . Democrats, Republicans ... . all his favorite "legal scholars." Everybody. Anyone who is upset about this is just being lied to by the MSM because it's so obviously perfect and, again, everybody wanted this for over 50 years.

#38 | Posted by anton at 2024-09-24 04:20 PM

If Trump wins, I am done. I plan on moving to Europe, we have been talking about doing that for 20 years but I can't handle stupid and that is what anyone voting for him is. In addition to spiteful, hate filled and with no foresight.

How would this work? Would a woman have to go to court and receive a judicial blessing before she has a miscarriage in her bathroom? If not, then I guess all such bathrooms need to be roped off with yellow tape until a full investigation rules out homicide. I used to think the Handmaid's Tale comparisons were a bit much, but I don't think that any longer.

My wife and I are thinking the same way. Fortunately, she's a nurse and is employable pretty much anywhere. I will have more difficulty, but hell I'd be happy to drive a cab or flip burgers for a while.

I was wondering the same thing. If TFG wins, will Americans be able to claim political asylum in other countries?

#42 | Posted by TFDNihilist at 2024-09-24 06:06 PM

Wouldn't that be hilarious if there were caravans of Americans crossing the southern border into Mexico to claim political asylum.

#43 | Posted by TFDNihilist at 2024-09-24 06:07 PM

42 and 43

When Trump was elected I expected the Canadian government to announce the immediate construction of a wall along its southern border.

Are you suggesting the Supreme Court's garbage immunity decision isn't binding on lower courts now? That's the law.
