Absentees ballots have always been a strange issue counting them.

Why the issue didn't matter was because there were relatively few.

2020 mail-in ballots were much larger numbers so the same issue was compounded.

Go back to pre-covid voting where there were fewer problems.

I've said repeatedly it was the wide scale usage in 2020.

Of the states you mentioned only one had close election results.

As I said, absentee ballots have always had problems and the wide scale usage of mail-in ballots across the entire country compounded the problem.

Mail-in ballots become a more serious when elections results are close for a state.

The whole issue of legititmacy (not just simply counting them) becomes a factor.

That can anger voters and they might even rally at the White House if they suspect the election was unfair and people harvested votes that might have tilted the election.

If you are interested in widening your perspective there are a number of articles that go into detail about chain of custody.

There are other questions about the 2020 election such as ballot harvesting. Some states have revised election laws because they recognized the problem in 2020.

My whole point is I hope the 2024 election doesn't have all the questions 2020 did.

My experience is setting up networked accounting systems from ground up since the 90s back when integrated accounting software was in its infancy.

I obtained my MCSE 25 years ago and have a wide range of experience. I don't simply manage.

The human factor is always the wild card. I can setup computer systems that run well and create reliable information.

It's the people using it that create a lot of the errors. Some dishonesty but mostly negligence or careless mistakes.

You build in processes to cross check numbers.

I'm no expert but if you're good enough (and I'm good) you develop an attitude for finding problems.

The 2020 election barely squeaked by deciding who won.
