Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, August 27, 2024

I'm not sure what Tim Walz is thinking. The Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential nominee is getting a ton of media scrutiny " as he should " because Vice President Kamala Harris chose him as her running mate. And it's not all painting him in a positive light. A growing number of examples show Walz either exaggerating or lying about his past. We're not close to George Santos territory here (the former Republican congressman who was outed for making up huge swaths of his past, as well as fundraising numbers), but it's still concerning. These are unnecessary, unforced errors, and they should make voters question what they can trust when Walz speaks.

And then he stood there and talked to the guy for another 45 minutes. Forty-Five minutes!

Which is it, Tim???

"Tim Walz Attacked by MAGA Over Dog Photos!"

"MAGA-affiliated social media accounts have attacked Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz for allegedly lying about the identity of his dog Scout.

On Monday, user @GrageDustin, a self-described "Minnesota GOP Hype Man" posted two screenshots of Walz's social media posts showing photographs of him posing with two different dogs. Walz mentions his dog Scout in both posts.

"Yes this is Tim Walz tweeting about his dog Scout," @GrageDustin wrote. "Only problem is that these are two completely different dogs." The post had been viewed 7 million times by Tuesday morning.

Conservative user @AlexanderPayton picked up on the alleged scandal, writing "Happy National Dog Day from Tim Walz, who somehow apparently lied about this too."

And prominent MAGA influencer @catturd2, who earlier this year admitted to running over and killing his own dog Smiles, posted an image of a man in a suit surrounded by dozens of different dogs, captioned "Tim Walz with his 50 dogs named Scout."

.

But the accounts accusing Walz of lying about his dog were soon corrected.

A community note was added to @GrageDustin's original post which said, "The dog in the second photo is one Tim Walz met while taking Scout (from the first photo) to the dog park."

The note linked to a video on Walz's Instagram showing Scout playing with the second dog at the dog park.

Kamala Harris supporting user @WUTankKids wrote

"MAGAs are so dumb...the dog on the right is just a random dog at the dog park that Scout was playing with....you morons could've done "your own research" and went to Tim Walz's Instagram and found the video in 10 seconds".

The post had garnered over 400,000 views by Tuesday.

'
Left-leaning user @swannmarcus89 joked that it was the latest in a run of underwhelming "scandals" involving the Minnesota governor.

"TIM WALZ SCANDAL UPDATE:

In 2022 Tim Walz went to a dog park and took a picture with somebody else's dog," the user wrote, alongside a list of previous "scandals" including "prevents son from walking into teleprompter,"

"Lying about low spice tolerance because he once ate chili powder," defensive coordinators aren't real coaches," "stolen valor after retiring as a different rank than he served as due to a technicality," and

"18 years ago he claimed he got an award from the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce that was actually given to him by the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce."

Other users pointed out the irony of MAGA users accusing Walz of being a bad dog owner when South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who was at one time considered a potential running mate for Donald Trump, said that she shot and killed her puppy Cricket because she was "untrainable".

I didn't make up a position you hold, and then attack that false position I just made up.

You are clearly attacking Walz in ways you would not attack Trump. Remember all the threads you posted about Trump's tall tales? No one else does either.

That's called an observation, not a strawman.

And my other observation was also correct: if you didn't have double standards, you have no standards at all.

Who needs to attack Trump, he's clearly on record as being pretty sh**ty... Kamala and Walz are the new relatively unknown entities in comparison. So as we try to learn about their backgrounds it's pretty natural that more stories will be about them as things come to light.

The fact that no one here can dare challenge the echo chamber and critically look at a D candidate is fascinating.

How many times have I called out the left for their silly ticker counter of the number of lies Trump has told? Practically nobody really cares about the tall tales that politicians tell. So why is the right barking up the same wrong tree?

The reasons Trump is unfit for office has nothing to do with the number of tall tales he's told when campaigning.

#23 | Posted by sentinel at 2024-08-28 10:32 AM | Reply | Funny: 1

" The fact that no one here can dare challenge the echo chamber "

It seems more pointing and laughing at the pop gun attacks by Republicans.

Republicans are whining constantly, and making up new rules for removing Harris. Nothing substantive, and at times, laughably false.

"People donated to Biden" is the most obvious one; the solicitation came from "Biden-Harris".

Get back to us when he spews crashing in a helicopter with Willie Brown who as he was seconds away from dying confessed to dotard that he never liked Kamala.

Or how many court stenographers came up to him with "tears in their eyes" saying "sir this trial is just wrong".

I do remember seeing a court security officer letting the door hit dotard in the face in fraud trial, though I cannot remember which fraud trial... the civil one where he owes $400 million, or the 34 felony conviction fraud trial, or was it the E Jean defamation case where he owes her $94 million for lying about raping her.

In other words...GTFOH.

"This site is non stop attacks on Trump."

This is true - I've often joked that this site should change its name to the Trump Retort given how many times his name appears on the front page - but there are both substantial and insubstantial attacks on Trump here. The article you posted practically acknowledges that it's engaging in concern trolling and acting as a counterpoint to the latter.

I often point out that the insubstantial attacks against Trump distract from the substantial ones and end up helping him. They don't think it through, or they do it anyway just because it feels good to them. Be careful not to fall into the same trap.

" Post a thread critical of a Dem and Danforth ...

... points out, honestly (but embarrassingly for you) you're a raging hypocrite if you're upset by ONE lie, but not 30,001.

Remember the threads you posted about Trump being a pathological liar? No one else does either.

Freaking out over one lie, while ignoring 30,000 others, is the real world equivalent of worrying about the speck in the other person's eye, while ignoring the LOG in yours.

Lying was never your dealbreaker, as you're pretending it should be for Democrats.
