The only ones who don't like it are the severe TDS sufferers. They just can't stand seeing positive things happen under a GOP administration. I can understand, it's called politics but the Dems are in big trouble, they can see that their approval numbers are at an all time low because the American people can see through their constant "world in ending" BS.

Hey ------- - you realize this is just the deal during the 90 days pause and not the final deal - right? Maybe you should ask the married guys you brag about banging to explain how negotiations work.

China bent the knee because their economy immediately felt the pain - they previously said they didn't want to negotiate and here they are because they have no choice. The CCP was facing internal protests for the first time since Tiananmen Square - no amount of liberal cheerleading for their communist comrades changes that fact.

I see just the opposite. I think Trump caved because the ports are empty and he knows a shitstorm was/is coming. In the meantime, China has made new deals with other trading partners all over the world. You'll never admit it, but there's a FAR better chance Trump is getting his butt kicked and he's trying to back pedal. China doesn't really need the US.

China's going to pay (internally) 10% while we, the USA, are going to pay out of our own pockets (internally) 30%, and that's a win for the United States?

Sounds like Scotts still doesn't understand how tariffs work.

LMAO!

#34 | Posted by YAV at 2025-05-12 12:00 PM | Reply

BTW - Like WhatsLeft said - China's already increased, substantially, their export agreements with out nations. I believe they've pretty much made up the loss of the US business. Them paying 10% on (decreased exported) goods to the US isn't going to bother them much at all.

Very true. Every ship that doesn't show up represents ~5,000 truckloads of goods that don't hit the highway. Marine AIS data is showing even the ships that are on the move are sitting a couple of feet higher in the water than normal, indication that they are not fully loaded.

My view is this is a loss for the US and a minor annoyance to China. My view is this was utterly unnecessary and pointless and inflicted pointless pain for no gain. You think this is a win for the United States. I've been listening to Bessent. I gave him the benefit of doubt because I wasn't familiar with him and I heard good things. Again - THIS IS NOT THE FINAL DEAL DIPSHIT. This is a pause while the actual deal is negotiated. China has already agreed to remove non-tariff barriers as well as fentanyl enforcement they previously refused to remove. The market is not celebrating this as a final deal - they are celebrating because China bent the knee despite what the liberals have been chanting in unison. Xi was being ravaged at home and facing protests for the first time - as Trump said from the beginning - China needs us way more than we need them.
