Well, yeah.

I do not disagree.

But, I do have to ask, does that mean that we should not try to move towards alternatives, as his lobbyists seem to be proffering?

I mean, his comments bring to mind for me, someone saying, back in the day, that the horse and buggy will be viable a transportation vehicle for the foreseeable future.

And the microplastics from hydrocarbon products will remain in our bodies and the oceans and the food web for even longer!

The Exxon chief executive suggested that the main question facing the industry is not whether hydrocarbons will remain relevant, but rather how they will be utilized in the future.

"I think the question is, do you continue to combust them? And that, I think, will change with time, depending on how technology develops," Woods added.

wow, incredibly insightful, it's almost as if the alternatives are all hydrocarbon products and the industry knows that.
