Two of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's political rivals have confirmed that they have been in contact with members of US President Donald Trump's entourage following a Politico report published on Thursday in which an alleged bid to remove Zelensky from office was revealed. According to Politico, "secret discussions" have been held about holding snap presidential elections in Ukraine that could potentially unseat Zelensky before a final peace deal is signed.

Well who didn't expect this to happen.

Z meets and communicates with Democrats in private, so I guess Trump sees it a fair.

None of Zelenskyy's rivals has anywhere near the support of voters he has, 63%... which is a lot better than Trump's here, as he is under 50 percent.

And his main competitor agrees with Zelenskyy on not have an unsecured Cease Fire or holding a vote.

This is all still Trump's hatred for the Ukrainian Pres for not being the scumbag Trump is' for refusing to help Trump manufacture dirt on Biden, which got him impeached.

Hi Corky
This is straight out of the GOP playbook: Nixon's aides convinced Saigon to stop the 1968 Paris Peace talks, Reagan's aides convinced Tehran to release the hostages after Carter lost to get a good deal (Gary Sick's "October Surprise"), and now this. And remember, Putin sent in a Spetsnaz team to decapitate the leadership in Kiev (which failed). Link:

Republicans did these sabotages and double crosses, and America has nothing to show for it.

Hi Reinheitsgebot: Perhaps like the recent crypto-currency summit, Trumpf will invite the Wagnerites, Proud Boys, Oaf Keepers, and even Hannibal Lecter to the White House: "Congratulations, the late, great Hannibal Lecter. We have people that are being released into our country that we don't want in our country." (Donald Trumpf, 12 May 2024).

They'll have lots to talk about. I wonder besides "da," how much more Russian does Trumpf know?

Russian strikes continue in Ukraine as U.S. pauses sharing intelligence with Kyiv
www.cbsnews.com

... Russian strikes on Ukraine killed at least 20 people, officials said Saturday, as heavy aerial attacks continued after the U.S. stopped sharing satellite images with Ukraine.

The decision to withhold intelligence and military aid came on the heels of a tempestuous White House visit last week by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Without U.S. satellite imagery, Ukraine's ability to strike inside Russia and defend itself from bombardment is significantly diminished.

At least 11 people were killed in multiple strikes on a town in Ukraine's Donetsk region late Friday. The attack also damaged eight apartment blocks in the town of Dobropillya, which is close to the front where Russian troops have been making steady advances.

Zelenskyy said at least five children were among the injured in Dobropillya.

"Last night, the Russian army fired two ballistic missiles at the center of Dobropillya," he said. "After emergency services arrived at the scene, they launched another strike, deliberately targeting rescuers.

It is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic to which the Russians often resort." ...

Yet, Pres Trump seems to be siding with Pres Putin's atrocities.

Why?

America should send Benedict Arnold Trump to Siberia to rot in some g*dd&mn Gulag!

Now he's encouraging his puppet master to pour on the bombs on Ukraine now that Ukraine isn't getting Patriot air defense systems and not getting any US satellite data and with Musk screwing around with Ukraine's Starlink comms. And Maxsr's now switched sides and giving Putin the satellite info that it had been giving to Ukraine!

What a great bloody negotiator the turncoat president is!

Lamplighter. Trump's been on the KGB list of potential influential Russian assets to be groomed since the 1970s when he began consorting with Ivana, his future wife, and the daughter of Czechoslovakian communist secret police informants. Don, Jr, learned just speak, fluent Czech from his secret communist informant grandfather.

All 3 of Ivana's Trump kids were fully dossiered by KGB allies their entire lives and groomed to trust the Russians as their friends. And knowing how well the KGB trained its agents to befriend and groom potential assets, one can only guess to what extremes the KGB & Putin would go to have s famous and "rich" bloviator like Trump groomed to become an asset.

Heck, when Trump's liquidity was in jeopardy, Putin had the Bank of Russia lend Trump 100s of millions, which is a sure way to get Trump's attention.

Trump would never have qualified for a security clearsnce but he has to have one. But it's a real risk to the free world letting him have one.

More from the cited article ...

... According to Politico, the Trump team reached out to Poroshenko and Ukraine's former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko to discuss whether Ukraine could hold snap presidential elections, which it would be glad to see Zelensky lose. Trump claimed last month that Zelensky's domestic approval rating stood at just 4%, when it is in fact far higher than Trump's.

A poll held by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in February indicated that 63% of Ukrainian respondents approved of the president's policies, and his poll numbers are likely to improve following an outpouring of support on social media after last week's unprecedented clash with Trump at the White House. ...

The problem is, you're playing a word game. Zelenskyy doesn't want the war to end because as soon as it does, he has to face an election. It's not in his best interest for the war to end. I say let him further destroy his country without the help of the USA.

Wrong as usual.

These regularly scheduled elections were disrupted by the state of martial law declared in 2022, at the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. This can be expected from a country fighting for its very existence, where significant portions of its territory are occupied. Martial law is established as a concept in the Ukrainian Constitution and last updated by the national legislature in 2015, before Zelensky entered politics.

Article 83 of the Ukrainian Constitution states that if the term of the Verkhovna Rada expires under martial law, it shall automatically be extended until a new Rada is seated following the end of martial law. Article 19 of Ukraine's martial law legislation specifically forbids conducting national elections. Thus, for Ukraine to conduct elections while under martial law would be a violation of legal norms that predate Zelensky and the full-scale Russian invasion.

Kox acknowledged this in a subsequent conversation with Olha Aivazovska, the head of Ukraine's top election watchdog, stating that "it is clear that [Ukraine's] constitution does not allow you to organize elections when martial law is applicable."

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
[Verse 1]
All hands on deck, we've run afloat
I heard the Captain cry
Explore the ship, replace the cook
Let no one leave alive

Across the straits, around the horn
How far can sailors fly?
A twisted path, our tortured course
And no one left alive

[Verse 2]
We sailed for parts unknown to man
Where ships come home to die
No lofty peak, nor fortress bold
Could match our captain's eye

Upon the seventh seasick day
We made our port of call
A sand so white, and sea so blue
No mortal place at all

[Instrumental part]

[Verse 3]
We fired the guns, and burned the mast
And rowed from ship to shore
The captain cried, we sailors wept
Our tears were tears of joy!

Now many moons and many Junes
Have passed since we made land
A Salty Dog, the seaman's log
Your witness, my own hand
