"The soldiers you saw in the photo were resting as they were not currently on mission and due to the fluid security situation, it was deemed too dangerous for them to travel to better accommodations," a Defense Department spokesperson told Snopes.

Trump, the Liar, needs people to think that he MUST assume special powers in some sort of existential crisis.

But what we have in LA are bored soldiers.

There's nothing going on in Los Angeles.

It's all happening on Social Media as Deplorable Trumping MAGAts all froth at the mouth.

Idiots from Texas and Michigan have the inside scoop!

It's astonishing!

They posted them in the federal buildings without coordinating with local emergency management and then were surrounded by angry protesters so no one could leave or enter without encountering an angry mob.

The LAPD finally came in and saved them from their own stupidity and cleared the area around the facilities.

It's a miracle not more citizens have been hurt. Probably mostly because the angry citizens were kept as far as they could be from federal agents by the LAPD.

The LAPD are showing Trumpy what compassionate professional law enforcement looks like.

Found pictures. Easy to do, apparently there were plenty at the time it happened.
Also it was for a few hours, not months.
It wasn't Pelosi that made that call, either.
It was also a mistake that was promptly fixed.

So the only thing you got right is that some guard members used a parking garage.

"Guard members ended up having to spend several hours Thursday night resting on the concrete in the parking garage before the mistake was fixed and they were moved back to the Capitol."

You people STFU. NOW you are worried about where soldiers sleep? It's always like that for soldiers or troops.

When I was stationed in Korea, there were protests about the two little girls run over by an LMTV. Koreans think the road is theirs when they walk. Girls got killed. Koreans stuffed 30K "protesters" into the intersection at the front of Camp Red Cloud. The 2nd Infantry division rappelled into the camp in full view of the protesters. Shut them up real quick. For the next two weeks, the infantry slept on the parade field and golf course. No tents. No cover.

If you havent been in the infantry or military, please shut up about the subject of this post. You dont know what you are talking about.

I do not disagree.

That aside, my main concern here is ...

Why were these troops called up? Were they really needed?

If they were needed, have the Marines been deployed? If so, for what purpose?

Or is this yet another Pres Trump photo-op trying to distract attention away from something else?

Reminds me of when I was on the Midway. When it was in home port Yokosuka, we went to MCAS Iwakuni. Every year the Japanese would protest outside the base. We were going back to the Midway and left a couple of personnel. One was a redneck from Texas. Our barracks was near a fence. The Texan put the Star Spangled Banner on his stereo and blasted it out the window during the protest. The natives were restless to say the least. The C.O. threatened to charge him with inciting a riot. Laughed my ass off.

Pentagon Gives Update on Marines Deployed To LA
www.newsweek.com

... The roughly 700 Marines deployed to the Los Angeles area Monday night remain in training as of Wednesday morning, according to a U.S. Northern Command spokesperson.

It's still unclear when or if they will be sent onto the streets to assist with the ongoing immigration protests, CNN's Natasha Bertrand initially reported Wednesday morning.

"Approximately 700 Marines have deployed to the greater Los Angeles Area," a U.S. Northern Command spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek Wednesday afternoon. "They are still conducting pre-mission training and they have not been employed by Task Force 51, the DoD command element in Los Angeles." ...

So, it is looking more and more like a photo op for Pres Trump.

Trump administration has ramped up deportations but is still far below pace it wants (May 28, 2025)
www.nbcnews.com

... The Trump administration has dramatically stepped up its pace of deportations, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement data obtained by NBC News, and in April, for the first time this year, it deported more people than the Biden administration did during the same period last year.

In April, the latest month for which the data is available, ICE deported over 17,200 people, an increase of about 29% compared with April 2024, when over 13,300 were deported.

"President Trump is keeping his promise to remove illegal aliens from the United States and Americans are hugely supportive," said Abigail Jackson, a White House spokesperson. "The Trump Administration is committed to providing the resources needed for law enforcement conducting the deportations and we will continue pursuing policy -- like the one Big, Beautiful, Bill -- to solidify the success we're already seeing."

Even deporting more than 17,200 people in a single month does not put President Donald Trump on track to make good on his Inauguration Day promise to deport "millions and millions." In fact, 17,200 deportations per month is less than half the pace it would take to reach the record number of 430,000 deportations in a single year, set under former President Barack Obama in 2013. ...

Lemme see...

430,000 deportations in a single year, is about 35 thousand deportations per month.

So, how far will Pres Trump go in order to even meet how many fmr Pres Obama has deported per month?

Or even Pres Trump meeting his stated goal of 10 million deportations?

Trump says Los Angeles would be burning to the ground' if he hadn't deployed troops
www.washingtontimes.com

... President Trump doubled down Tuesday on his decision to deploy U.S. Marines and the California National Guard to Los Angeles to quell the anti-ICE riots, saying the destruction would have been far worse if he had not done that.

"If I didn't send in the troops' to Los Angeles the last three nights that once beautiful and great city would be burning to the ground right now, much like 25,000 houses burned to the ground in L.A ...

Let me remind you that LA was very quiet 6 days ago. Relatively speaking.

Any unrest in 5 square miles of a 500 square mile city is being completely caused and escalated by Donald J Trump.

Pull out the troops that California never asked for and never needed and stop the illegal raids and the protests will stop immediately.

Stop attacking America. Go attack a country that actually needs attacking ... frickin coward.

And ditto for the National Guard.

Which may be why the National Guard folk look to be ~detaining~ protesters for the local LAPD folk to actually arrest them.

If that is the case, why are the National Guard and the Marines present?

"Whiskey Pete" Hegseth Can't Explain Why Troop Deployment Is Legal

"Defense Secretary Pete Hogsbreath on Wednesday insisted the Pentagon's deployment of troops to Los Angeles was lawful. He just couldn't cite the law he was following. The sycophantic dipsomaniac who is head of the DOD clashed with several lawmakers at a Senate budget hearing as he sought to defend President Dotard Trumpf's decision to send thousands of troops, including 700 active-duty Marines, to California in response to mass deportation protests."
