Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, July 07, 2025

A senior officer in Hamas's security forces has told the BBC the Palestinian armed group has lost about 80% of its control over the Gaza Strip and that armed clans are filling the void. The lieutenant colonel said Hamas's command and control system had collapsed due to months of Israeli strikes that have devastated the group's political, military and security leadership.

According to the officer, Hamas attempted to regroup during the 57-day ceasefire with Israel earlier this year, reorganizing its political, military, and security councils.

But since Israel ended the truce in March, it has targeted Hamas's remaining command structures, leaving the group in disarray.

In this vacuum, six armed groups affiliated with powerful local clans have emerged as serious contenders to fill the void, according to the officer.

These groups have access to money, weapons and men, and are active across all of Gaza, but mostly in the south.

One of them is led by Yasser Abu Shabab, a figure who has attracted attention from the Palestinian Authority, which is based in the occupied West Bank and is a rival to Hamas, as well as regional players - particularly after Israel confirmed last month that it was supplying him with weapons.

The officer confirmed that Hamas had placed a large bounty on Abu Shabab's head, fearing he could become a unifying figure for its many enemies.

And children lack control. Ipso facto, ergo, e pluribus unum.

I'm sure it saddens many pro-Hamasers to see the terrorists who hunted down, raped, and murdered 1,200 civilian men, women, and children receive their comeuppance. A few more years of this and then Israel can take Gaza as reparations.

Thanks to Western complicity and the hardworking American taxpayer, the Israeli Death Forces (IDF) have created the largest number of child amputees in modern history, as well as an army of orphans. The child amputees join a legion of adult amputees, like the victims on the Palestinian soccer team who the IDF began maiming twenty years ago to destroy any vestige of a nation.

Take that Adolf, Vlad, and Pol Pot! You've got nothing on Bibi when it comes to cruelty!

Scalping was totally uncalled for! Though they prolly learned it from white men.

But I digress. I consider most Whataboutisms as the logical fallacies they are, and try to refrain from using them.... I find they are a way of avoiding directly addressing the current questions.

But I'll play along a bit; Hamas is a mostly Fascist group of thugs and criminals who werked (Dethspud homage!) for 3 or 4 billionaire Oligarchs that live in palaces in Qatar, making their money by charging the poor people of Palestine to move goods in the tunnels to and from Egypt.

Raking in billions from that and other scams while at the same time refusing to ever clean the water that the people of Gaze died from daily, men, women, and children.

And bringing a very unsurprising and totally expected living ---- down on the people of Gaza, only some of which actually supported Hamas.

So, no, I don't see the other groups you mention as being the same. At all. Respectfully.

It is amusing watching many of the same folks who assured us that they were absolutely, most definitely, NOT pro-Hamas lament the destruction of [drumroll] .... Hamas.

Particularly hilarious is C0RI0LANUS, who sees no logical inconsistency with whining about incidental civilian casualties caused by Israel (as occurs in every single war in history) in defending itself in this war the Palestinians started, but sees nothing wrong with supporting terrorists whose entire M.O. is intentionally targeting civilians for rape and slaughter.

1:1 civilian/combatant casualty ratio is on the low end for wars, and certainly not genocide.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians and Muslim nations expelled Jews from their territories and nations 80 years ago. And the Palestinians punish with death any Palestinian who sells land to a Jew. But it's the Jews, who extend full citizenship rights to the 25% of their nation that is Muslim, who are the bad guys.

That plan worked fine for the Jews.

The Irgun policy was based on what was then called Revisionist Zionism founded by Ze'ev Jabotinsky.[2] Two of the most infamous operations for which the Irgun were known; the bombing of the British administrative headquarters for Mandatory Palestine in Jerusalem on 22 July 1946 and the Deir Yassin massacre that killed at least 107 Palestinian Arab villagers, including women and children, carried out with Lehi on 9 April 1948.

There are no government services in Gaza, how does Hamas functionally claim any form of control, ever??
Were there tunnels under the cafe? Or the tent?
#61 | Posted by redlightrobot

Same way any warlords operate. See Somalia.

And the tunnels span miles. So, sure, there are some under tents.

Here's some video of IDF destroying 6 tunnels totaling 4 miles in length. www.youtube.com

The longest one I've heard of is 2.5 miles long. www.youtube.com

Those Hamasers may not be able to hold down a job or play soccer very well hopping around on one leg. But they rape, murder, and burrow with the best of them.

The former Egyptian territory of Gaza. Hamas does not represent any sort of Palestinian state. Mostly because there is no such thing, but the closest thing to a provisional government is the Palestinian National Authority in the West Bank.

They're definitely not conquerors. If they were, the war would be over. They seemed to be less effective at conquering Gaza than the US was at conquering Afghanistan. Although to be fair, they have a few more years left before we can make an honest comparison.

They will be victims if they don't win though. I don't think 'from the river to the sea' is just a trope. It's the final solution to the Jewish question.

"Meanwhile, the Jewish State only exists because of the Zionist Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine."

The Jewish state exists because the previous owners (Great Britain) deeded it to them. Pretty much following the suit of those (the Ottomans) who preceded the Brits.

And I'm not sure if you know it or not, but the Brits gave the Palestinians a state as well. The Palestinians simply made the mistake of thinking they could take the whole thing for themselves. The Zionists had developed much of what had been empty desert into lucrative enterprises. It makes sense they would want to drive out the Jews and take it all for themselves. It's actually not much different than the decision calculus of any other group that thought it would be in their best interest to kill the Jews and take their stuff. Israel is pretty much the first time that didn't work out for those wanting to do the taking.

The original offer required Israel to recognize the Palestinian state.
Israel has never done that, so a more accurate statement would be:

How Israel rejected the existence of a Palestinian state, five times in the past, and still today.

WASHINGTON " The Trump administration has assured mediators that it does not intend to allow Jerusalem to resume fighting against Hamas in Gaza following a 60-day ceasefire, even if this is not explicitly included in the text of a deal being hashed out in Washington and Qatar, an Arab diplomat and a second source familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel on Wednesday.

The issue of whether Israel will be able to restart its military campaign at the conclusion of a proposed 60-day ceasefire and the release of 10 living and 18 dead hostages is one of the main sticking points in talks that have failed to produce a breakthrough even as leaders continued to express optimism that one can be reached.

That was the Palestinians' entire point in committing their atrocities on October 7th. To intentionally target, rape, and murder civilian women and children, and then play victim when Israel defended itself and Allah visited his wrath upon the Palestinians. They had the nerve to hold protests here nationwide on Israel's retaliation the day after, before Israel had even done anything except throw some paper towels down to soak up its children's blood.

Personally, I don't like being manipulated, so the Palestinians can enjoy the FAAFO educational process in all its glory as far as I'm concerned.

The fact that the world bought into the Palestinian's faux victimhood shows how much the Jews are hated, and why Jews need to hold onto Israel. Because the Muslims will finish the process that various other nations have been working towards for millenia; ending the Jews once and for all.

I'm not clear. Do you think Israel would or would not allow an independent Palestinian state.

To maybe shape your answer, I would draw your attention to post-WWII Germany and Japan. I think there were many at the time who felt that Germany and Japan would never be able to overcome their historical belligerence and would therefor need to be occupied and controlled by US and allied forces indefinitely. And the allies created the structures for that indefinite occupation. Here we are, 80 years later, and Germany is the 4th largest economy on earth and a global leader. So is Japan. And most notably, there are no occupational governments necessary to pacify these countries.

It did help that the commies did drive past enemies to connect in an incredibly short time period, but if Palestine was to be de-nazified, why couldn't it be as successful as Israel has been?

Yer right. The Brits offered the Palestinians their own state, but the Palestinians rejected it.

#119 | Posted by madbomber

Are you getting this from the Israel's propaganda sites?

It never happened.

The British made assurances of a Palestinian state if the Palestinians rose up against the Ottoman Empire 1915-1916.

Immediately after in the very same year, 1916, the British entered the Sykes-Picot Agreement with France to maintain international administration over Palestine instead.

1 YEAR LATER the British passed the Balfour Declaration supporting giving Palestine to the Jewish people.

The closest was the 1939 White Paper suggesting an independent Palestine within 10 years. Both Arabs and Jews initially rejected it. Palestinians rejected it because it didn't allow actual independence or self-governance. Essentially Israel would be allowed to ignore it (they turned out to be right) and the real authority would still be with the British.

However, the Arab Delegation DID sign the White Paper anyway.

Why did it fail? Britain and Israel tore it up. Britain rescinded it at the end of WWII. Israel's literal first official act was to end it.

So WTF are you talking about?

#123 | Posted by madbomber

Yes, several things have changed since 1993.

First, the Olso Accords did not have Israel recognizing Palestine as a state:
"The Oslo Accords did not create a definite Palestinian state.[3]"
en.wikipedia.org

Second "Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in 1995 by a right-wing Israeli extremist for signing them.[7][8]"
en.wikipedia.org

Other points of interest: "Less than six months after the signing of the DOP, an Israeli extremist killed 29 Palestinians in the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre.[5]" en.wikipedia.org

"Following the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, the labor party's recently selected prime minister Shimon Peres' would give the green light for the assassination of Yahya Ayyash, which Avi Shlaim describes as "the greatest mistake of Peres's political career" due to the subsequent rise of suicide attacks." en.wikipedia.org

As for Yahva, he was a product of IDF Apartheid: "He planned to study for a master's degree in Jordan, but soon after being denied a student visa, he joined Hamas." en.wikipedia.org

Finally, in 1996 and many times since his election, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has publicly stated that Israel would never recognize a Palestinian state.

And he's not alone. After then Coastal Road Massacre, Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin stated in a press conference that Israel "shall not forget the carnage" and added that "there was no need of this outrage to understand that a Palestinian state would be a mortal danger to our nation and our people."[28] en.wikipedia.org

So, anyone who tells you Israel would ever allow a Palestinian state to exist is a liar, and probably a Zionist too.

It might help you to understand that if you were willing to learn that Netanyahu and Begin believe in Revisionist Zionism: Revisionist Zionism is a form of Zionism characterized by territorial maximalism. Revisionist Zionism promoted expansionism and the establishment of a Jewish majority on both sides of the Jordan River.[1] Developed by Ze'ev Jabotinsky in the 1920s, this ideology advocated a "revision" of the "practical Zionism" of David Ben-Gurion and Chaim Weizmann which was focused on the settling of Eretz Yisrael (Land of Israel) by independent individuals. Differing from other types of Zionism, Revisionists insisted upon the Jewish right to sovereignty over the whole of Eretz Yisrael, including Mandatory Palestine and Transjordan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revisionist_Zionism

Zionist Jews have always wanted everything From The River To The Sea, and they leave no doubt about it in their own words.

They're Nazis.
