... The New Year's Eve celebration drew spectators from around the world ...

... and if I may be so bold as to give my rare praise to CNN for its ~New Years Eve Live Around The World~ coverage.

Here in Eastern Time, tomorrow is still nearly 3 hours away.

But in parts of Asia, tomorrow is already nine or more hours in progress.

** A vision of sugar plumbs (or, in this case, dancing bananas) ... **

A projection for the future, starting tomorrow:

The Epstein thing will still be on-going, starting Fridays tens of millions of Americans are going to receive their new healthcare premiums, people will continue to be snatched from the streets of America (Details on your local TV news, sound up, down or muted, same impression - *), the on-going war in Venezuela will get hotter, the buffoons running federal agencies will continue to prove their incompetence, writ large, inflation and rising prices will continue unabated, and ostensible allies will be further insulted and isolated, while economic adversaries will continue to, as they say, Laugh all the way to the bank, while laughing and insulting the Trump right to his face.

Oh, and did I mention that there will be a major national election in less than 11 months?

Happy New Year to most ! ! !

* Thank you to the Trump administration for this in-kind contribution to the Democratic Party and its candidates (oh, and shrimpsizedgenitalsdisguisedbyataco"Dan" too!).

No need to spend a single dime pointing how cruel, yet totally incompetent, is the entire Trump Administration...

Oh, and to all my dear friends on the Reich ** right side of the aisle...

The Happiest of New Years to you and yours

** - in keeping with the Trump's theme of unity this new year.

New Years is a great time to announce things like pulling Nat Guard troops out of Blue states and releasing Jack Smith's testimony about DJT's J6 crimes.

You know, while the Base is out drinking beers and shooting off fireworks.

They'll never know it even happened!

U2 - New Year's Day (1983)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
The lyric had its origins in a love song from Bono to his wife, but was subsequently reshaped and inspired by the Polish Solidarity movement.

[Verse 1]
All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you, be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day
On New Year's Day

[Chorus]
I will be with you again
I will be with you again

[Verse 2]
Under a blood red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white
Arms entwined, the chosen few
The newspaper says, says

[Pre-Chorus]
Say it's true, it's true
And we can break through
Though torn in two
We can be one

[Chorus]
I, I will begin again
I, I will begin again

...

[Verse 3]
And so we're told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage
Though I want to be with you, be with you night and day
Nothing changes New Year's Day
...

This isn't the New Year, most of the world the New Year starts Feb 17th, year of the Horse.

Americans are so parochial.

#12 You say, "it turns out that Vlad was lying about 'fireworks' from Ukraine at his hacienda"

Is that like LZK seeing the Atlantic Ocean from her balcony in Chicago?

Or Sarah Palin seeing Russia from her front porch?

I have heard disturbing rumors that onepigironsmoothbrainaut, or perhaps shrimpsizedgenitalsdisguisedbyataco"Dan" are the actual Barbie Doll Man of Eugene.

Can anyone here confirm or deny that well documented and verified rumor?

Many thanks!

And Happy New Year

Chinese New Year
en.wikipedia.org

... Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival (see also Names), marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture and was placed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2024.

Marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring, this festival takes place from Chinese New Year's Eve (the evening preceding the first day of the year) to the Lantern Festival, held on the 15th day of the year.

This will be a year when Candace and Tucker are the right's closest thing to a voice of reason and Republicans banish them both for it.

It's already in the works!

I also notice that many (most? nearly all?) Asian stock markets are closed of New Year Day.

Actually, it seems to be the week between Christmas and New Year.

They are closed.

@#25 ... Time is going by way too fast for me. ...

Yeah. It seems to me that the older I get, the faster time seems to progress. Wish I knew why. But, there it is.

Joni Mitchell - The Circle Game (1970)
www.youtube.com

genius.com

...
[Verse 1]
Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star

[Chorus]
And the seasons, they go 'round and 'round
And the painted ponies go up and down

We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go 'round and 'round and 'round
In the circle game

[Verse 2]
Then the child moved ten times 'round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like "when you're older" must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
...

They don't write lyrics like that anymore...

Happy New Year to you also.
