Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, January 12, 2026

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell took to social media tonight to announce that his office has been subpoenaed in a criminal probe that is an attempt to pressure the Federal Reserve to do the presidents bidding. "The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President," Powell said. "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions -- or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

Anyone who demonstrates competence in their job is a threat to the Republican Administration.

"whether Mr. Powell lied to Congress about the scope of the project"

Isn't that a thing for Congress to investigate?

If Trump gets what he wants it would be short term gain followed by medium term crash. So once the new chair comes in, lock in those short term gains and use it to buy your own underground Topeka. Who cares what's happening if I got mine.

Who tried to illegally overturn the 2020 election?

Are Trump's economic policies growing jobs? Or was there a 70 percent decrease last year from 2024?

Inquiring minds.

They are good sources, in conjunction with other sources - that whole diversification thing that you cannot even abide, much less consider.

Nobody expected you to be smart enough to take anything seriously.

Just as you're incapable of discerning good information from bad.

And you continue to be incapable of discerning fascist behavior from merely bad behavior.

So the Judge that couldn't indict a breaded goods terrorist in 4 attempts is on the job! Maybe she should look into the dufus that appointed Powell.

The U.S. attorney's office in the District of Columbia has opened a criminal investigation into Jerome H. Powell, the Federal Reserve chair, over the central bank's renovation of its Washington headquarters

The necrotizing------------------- who razed the east wing of the White House is investigating Powell for a renovation project? Wine box Pirro is headed for another embarrassing loss.

Courage is always inspirational, and Powell really is a hero. Trump wants what is best for him and his economic gang.

#28 | Posted by Hughmass at 2026-01-12 07:39 AM | Reply

My view, as an investment manager, is that Jay Powell has done a first-rate job steering the US Economy around the obstacles presented in the past five+ years. Week after week, talking heads stated that a recession was just around the corner, and all were proved wrong. The Fed did its best, given the state of the economy after February, 2020, when people were dropping like flies, and businesses were shutting down. We are where we are now because of the Trump effect on the economy, felt beginning in April, 2025. I predict this matter will blow up in Der Dotard's face, with the results being (1) open questioning of what is going on at the White House demolition zone, and (2) louder questioning of the location of the Epstein Files...

Trump isn't going to be happy hearing you say the economy is in the tank. Just yesterday he was saying we have the "hottest" economy anywhere.
Which is it? Has Powell tanked the economy or is so hot?

Crazy how the cult members on this site ALWAYS think Trump, shown throughout his entire life as a grifting psychopath predator, is a victim. Classic Stockholm Syndrome.

You said when the tariffs were enacted the economy would crash and we'd see hyper inflation. How did that work out?
When we took out Iran's nuclear facility you said it would lead to WW3. How did that work out?

In other words you are wrong more than you are right.
