Iranian Protesters Say Trump 'Betrayed' Them
For many Iranians who poured onto the streets during the latest wave of protests, US President Donald Trump appeared to be a potential lifeline.

Trump is responsible for the death of these 15,000," a Tehran businessman told TIME magazine, referring to the protest death toll. "Because many of the protesters took to the streets when they saw his post that the US is 'locked and loaded.'

George HW Bush betrayed the Iraqis after calling for them to rebel, which they did as U.S. fighter jets watched hundreds at a time get mowed down by Saddam's Revolutionary Guard.

I just want to point out that the Venezuelan adventure likely prevented Piggy from bombing Iran since we didn't have a carrier located nearby.
Not sure if that is good thing or a bad thing.

The USS Abraham Lincoln, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, is currently en route to the Persian Gulf.
ICC-indicted war criminal Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu is kept up-to-date on the locations and activities of all strategic US military forces, particularly ACGs and B1, B2, and Stealth aircraft. Moreover, Diego Garcia is an ideal location to launch attacks against Muslim countries.
Benjamin Netanyahu wants maximum US forces in the region before he starts the three-pronged war against the West Bank, Lebanon, and Iran that the IDF High Command warned its citizens about on 31 Dec 2025. Hence, he asked for the US to postpone attacking Iran.
One doesn't have to be a Robert Oppenheimer or Lieutenant Columbo to understand this situation.

Bombing them would have made the internal repression even worse.

Trump is Not Responsible directly or Morally as much as I hate to say it. He was his usual over promising Lying self but he wasn't the Actor behind this.
The Evidence I've seen such as it is makes me believe Israeli Cells within Iran Fomented the Real Violence that triggered the mass shootings.
That's why Shutting down the internet Quashed the Violence.
No ability to organize from Outside.
If the Protests had been organic the internet shutdown wouldn't have affected them as much.
Iran is a Great Power even as The Islamic Republic.
They Won't be Undermined as much as you think.

The simplest, truest, most obvious thing about Donald Trump is that he is insane.
What is there about human nature that when a genuinely crazy man gets into power that the human race loses its capacity for common sense and self-protective action?

You speak of hypocrisy, BOAZ. But the America you are trying to midwife values hypocrisy as a tool to power and as a means of personal survival.
The whole reason that ZED is able to come to this place and speak freely simply means that the crisis in this country hasn't fully hit yet.
When and if it does, what will happen to ZED?
The extreme and brutal mental illness that is at the core of Donald Trump does not ignore or forgive insults.
I've insulted Trump a lot. What will be my punishment?

"I stand by my original observation. Anybody would be looking for a friendlier venue unless they enjoyed the abusive attention."
Think about what you're saying here. Boaz and others here appear to believe they're standing their ground against perceived bullying and hypocrisy in a publicly open space. It's fair enough to criticize their methods of doing that, including the futility of the idea of fighting hypocrisy with hypocrisy or the effects of staring into the Nietzschean abyss, but you're basically making an excuse for "abusive attention". It's the old "you made me/them do it" lie that abusers and their enablers use all the time.

NO, I choose to engage the more sane progressives on this site who do not insult. They most often will present an opinion opposite mine that I can think about or dismiss.
The rest of this site is just a sewer. It would be easy to just leave and avoid dealing with the scumbags of liberalism.
