In the midst of Vietnam, Lyndon B Johnson angrily and famously declared: I'm not going down in history as the first American President to lose a war'. But he did. And yesterday Donald Trump became the second to also lose one.

My view was this was a stupid war that never should have been started, but that once we started we had to see it through to an endpoint that clearly landed a defeat on Iran. Best I can say for things right now is that last night's terms appear to be a starting point. Because as things stand, the Iranian regime knows that it can survive a US onslaught and bring us to our knees by closing the Straits of Hormuz. This is pretty close to the worst possible ending. It would have been better to end it right after the first few days. Unreal.

The entire war was a crime. The beginning, the middle, now the ceasefire.

There should be accountability for Trump Netanyahu, they belong in prison.

Lives were lost, property destroyed, the war was started during bogus negotiations to lure the Iranians to drop their guard.

No Honor. No Sense of Justice. No common decency.

The US Israel acted like Nazi Pigs though the entire war.

I'm Glad they failed to achieve any of their prime objectives.

And as for those pesky quagmires?

In the best case scenario, Trump struck a deal to reopen a Strait that was open before the pointless war he started, with the IRGC demonstrating its control over the Strait and potentially extracting fees plus sanctions relief. Thousands of innocents - including hundreds of children - dead in Lebanon and Iran for no reason. U.S. troops killed and wounded. U.S. embassies and bases in the Middle East badly damaged. U.S. standing in the world obliterated. U.S. munitions badly depleted. Hundreds of billions spent. Prices up everywhere. More global economic fallout to come. Putin strengthened and enriched. Just a catastrophic situation even in the best of circumstances. A profoundly shameful episode in American history no matter what happens next.

Its people are weak, and can't fathom the brutality that is coming. That's why it keeps losing, and will lose its status.

Historians are going to have a ball writing up this march of folly.

Historians will not even write about America, it is a blip in the history of the world. Just as Marxists claim Somalis and PoC built America, the great inventions we see today will be credited to some other country or race.

US President Donald Trump says Lebanon is "not included" in the two-week ceasefire agreement, according to PBS's White House correspondent, Liz Landers.

The US president is reported to have told Landers that Lebanon was not included because of the group Hezbollah, which he said would "get taken care of".

When asked about Israel's attacks on Lebanon, Trump referred to it as "a separate skirmish".

Iran announced it will block the Strait of Hormuz once again while threatening to withdraw from a two-week ceasefire agreement after Israel attacked Lebanon.

Tehran state media announced the surprising move on Wednesday, a day after the U.S., Israel and Iran agreed to hold fire on the ongoing conflict.

"Iran will withdraw from the agreement if Israel continues to violate the ceasefire by persisting in its attacks on Lebanon. Iran is considering the possibility of withdrawing from the ceasefire agreement due to its continued violation by the Zionist regime in its attacks on Lebanon," Tasnim News Agency reported. It comes after a psychologist found an alarming hidden message in Trump's threat.

So it appears that Trump and Iran have vastly differing views on what the ceasefire covers-Iran thinks Israel attacking Lebanon is included, Trump doesnt.

This sounds like one of those things that will blow up a ceasefire

Israel formed from the original terrorist entity in the Middle East. Even Albert Einstein recognized that all the way back in late 1948 when he either wrote or signed onto letters condemning what would eventually become the fascist, ethnosupremacist Likud party:

"Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the "Freedom Party" (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.

The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin's political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represent."

"A ceasefire with Iran will not include Hezbollah. We are continuing to hit Hezbollah," Netanyahu says.

Describing today's widescale and deadly Israeli assault on Lebanon, the Israeli leader told reporters: "We have hit locations Hezbollah thought they were safe [in]."

As we've been reporting, the Israeli bombardment has killed at least 254 people so far and wounded more than 1,165 others.

Seems like a fundamental disagreement between the parties

And Iran responded by shutting down the SoH

Iranian parliament speaker says 10-point proposal already breached
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran's parliament, says three clauses in Iran's 10-point proposal on ending the war have been violated before negotiations have even begun.

That includes what Ghalibaf said was an understanding " expressed by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif " that the ceasefire would extend to Lebanon.

Galibaf also said an "intruding drone" entered Iranian airspace, "in clear violation" of a clause prohibiting such breaches, while Iran's "right to enrichment" was also included in the 10-point plan.

"Now, the very workable basis on which to negotiate' has been openly and clearly violated, even before the negotiations began. In such [a] situation, a bilateral ceasefire or negotiations is unreasonable," Ghalibaf wrote.

As we just reported, the White House has said Trump's demand that Iran halt all uranium enrichment remains a "red line" for the US president.

Iran's foreign minister says US must choose ceasefire or war via Israel
The US must choose between continued war via Israel or a ceasefire, Iran's top diplomat says.

"The conditions for a ceasefire between Iran and the United States are clear and explicit: America must choose either a ceasefire or the continuation of war through Israel; both cannot coexist," Araghchi wrote on Telegram.

"The world is witnessing the killings in Lebanon. Now the ball is in America's court, and global public opinion is watching to see whether this country will fulfill its commitments or not."

Will the ceasefire make it to tomorrow?

Israeli attack on Lebanon today nothing short of horrific': UN rights chief
The scale of the killing and destruction in Lebanon today, where at least 254 people have been killed by Israeli attacks, is "nothing short of horrific", according to UN's Human Rights chief Volker Turk.

"Such carnage, within hours of agreeing to a ceasefire with Iran, defies belief. It places enormous pressure on a fragile peace, which is so desperately needed by civilians," he said. "International humanitarian law spells out clearly that civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected.

"Each and every attack must comply with international humanitarian law fundamental principles of distinction, proportionality and precautions to protect civilians.

"These principles are non-negotiable, and must always be respected, whatever the circumstances of armed conflict."

This vivid, gripping portrait of his years of incarceration and exile shines devastating light on the fates of so many people as borders close around the world.

And he'd be right ... Except for the inconvenient fact that every other American President in the last 90 years has done the same. CSAR is a thing we do, and have done under different names since World War II; after all, George H.W. Bush was rescued by the USS Finback submarine in 1945.

The shootdown of an F-15E led to the loss of one A-10, two MC-130s, at least four AH MH-6 Little Bird helicopters, in addition to several damaged helicopters and aircraft. The Defense Department (sorry, Pete, not using your branding) has been remarkably unwilling to discuss casualties of any kind. As with everything regarding our military, of course, it was an act of amazing skill and heroism.
