Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, April 20, 2026

Throughout US President Donald Trump's second term in office, traders have been betting millions of dollars just before he makes major announcements. The BBC has examined trade volume data on several financial markets and matched them to some of the president's most significant market-moving statements. It found a consistent pattern of spikes just hours, or sometimes minutes, before a social media post or media interview was made public.

No way such activity can be considered part of the president's normal duties, which is the gist of the hall pass granted by SCOTUS to Der Dotard. Typical in the punishment of those convicted of insider trading is disgorgement of profits, on top of a fine. Trump will fight like hell to not give back any of his ill-gotten gains. And there is no way he didn't know of this activity, and wasn't part of the scheme...

An administration comprised of billionaire sociopaths, staffed with a gaggle of grifters and con-artists means this was an inevitability.

His proclivity to sell pardons to every fraudster sitting in jail or on appeal will give the low level staffers engaging in this insider -------- false security.

How far down will his pardons go? Only as far as the people who can afford them.

Dem "leadership" won't do anything

Biden proved that.

Considering there are reports Obama knew Trump was being funded by the Kremlin, he's just as responsible.

This is where democrats snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

They're slaves to AIPAC and the corporate elite.

Dems may win due to voter fatigue of Trump, like in 2020. But their lackluster performance made many wonder what the point was.

America deserves more than the 2 party system of the Oligarch Party vs the Corporate Elite Party.

By the way, they're the same people.

Democrats have plenty of candidates available

The DNC shoots them down every chance they get.

#11 | Posted by ClownShack at 2026-04-20 03:09 PM | Reply

#11 That's the most ridiculous comment I've read today, Clown.

Just how does the DNC shoot down candidates?

Didn't shoot down any of these recent Democratic success stories:

-> Georgia voters ousted two Republican members of the state's Public Service Commission in favor of two Democrats - the first Democrats to win statewide nonfederal offices in decades.

-> Democrats in Mississippi Break the G.O.P.'s State House Supermajority

-> Every single county in Virginia - even deeply red counties - saw shifts TOWARDS the Democrats, as opposed to how they voted 1 year ago.

-> Dems flip Wichita School Board from a 4-3 GOP majority to a 5-2 Democratic majority. Democratic candidates Amy Warren and Amy Jensen defeated Republican incumbents Hazel Stabler and Kathy Bond.

-> Two of Tuesday's school board elections were in Bucks County, Pa., which was considered "ground zero" for right-wing groups' takeover of school boards in 2021. A few years ago, conservatives on these boards in Pennbridge and Central Bucks districts were using their roles to pass policies targeting LGBTQ+ students and banning books.

---> Democrats flipped control of both boards in 2023, and on Tuesday, they ousted every Republican from both of these boards, except for one. The Pennbridge school board is now 8-1, with Democratic members in control. The Central Bucks school board is 9-0.

-> In Texas, we even won in Lockhart, which sits in a district so red that Democrats normally don't even run. We had a clean sweep in Cy-Fair ISD, another deeply red area that not even Greg Abbott could save your party.

-> In SD-9, another red district, we saw an 8 point shift for the Democrat

-> Eileen Higgins elected as first Democratic mayor of Miami in three decades

It seems like way too many on our side of the aisle seem bound and determine to see to it that the Democratic Party becomes pure... and permanently in the minority, incapable of stopping any/all GOP legislation and GOP judicial nominations.

As for me, the opposition isn't the DNC (or the Democratic Party, or any Democratic candidate that's brave enough to throw their hat into the ring).

The opposition is the RNC, the Republican Party, and every candidate with an (R) after their name.

Eye on the prize, Clown.

Eye on the prize.

Friend,

Currently Steyer is the leading Democrat in the polls for California governor.

The safe choice would be for all Californians to flock to him.

But many of us don't want a New York billionaire running our state, so we're pushing for Becerra.

Currently republicans are poised to win.

But we're gambling that our state is worth more than being bought by billionaires and run as a corporation.

Best of luck to California.

There are plenty of decent non-AIPAC Democrats to vote for: pdamerica.org

And the DNC-- like the Republicans and the FBI Epstein files-- still refuse to release the official autopsy report of why incumbent VPOTUS Kamala Harris and successful Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) lost 6,265,888 supporters that voted Democratic on Tuesday 3 Nov 2020, but not on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024, costing the DNC the White House.

The catastrophe for the DNC cost them enjoying the spectacle of America250, FIFA 2026, and the 2028 Summer Olympiad.

Meanwhile, ICC-indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu still holds on to power in Israel, Kamala Harris is in the wilderness, and Tim Walz plans on retiring.

#18 Not possible.

Bernie Sanders isn't a Democrat.

Can't get screwed by a party that isn't yours...

...unless you allow them to do that.

And afterwards, wouldn't the person who was "screwed" disavow the party that wasn't even theirs, and then spend the rest of their time damning said party?

If I remember correctly, Senator Sanders is still caucusing with the Democrats.

#17 Caius Marcius Coriolanus again states, "And the DNC ... still refuse to release the official autopsy report of why incumbent VPOTUS Kamala Harris and successful Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) lost 6,265,888 supporters that voted Democratic on Tuesday 3 Nov 2020, but not on Tuesday 5 Nov 2024, costing the DNC the White House."

And, again, I am pleased to offer my in-depth take on that question, with activities down to the county/precinct level, to demonstrate why the Harris/Walz team lost in November, 2024:

Throughout the month of October, 2024, the Trump campaign (and associated entities) spent $300,000,000.00 on ads in all 7 swing states during televised NFL and NCAA football games. The topic of all of those ads? Then-CA Attorney General Kamala Harris' 2019 response to a question about a Trump administration dictate on gender-affirming (read: trans) care for federal inmates

click graphic above for actual She's for They/Them ad

And the amount of money the Harris campaign spent countering those She's for They/Them ads in the swing states during NFL and NCAA football games? You know, to point out the truth that she was simply responding to a question about a Trump administration dictate on gender-affirming for federal inmates? To counter the deceptive, the lying-by-omission ads run by Trump & company?

Zero dollars

The efficacy of this strategy was born out election night, 2024, when Steve Kornacki was calling individual counties (starting with Pennsylvania) and highlighting that the Harris/Walz ticket was falling short of votes as opposed to the votes in the 2020 election for the Biden/Harris ticket. His reporting was, in effect, a death by 1,000 cuts for Harris/Walz.

Trump & company knew that all it would take would be the suppression of Biden votes in 2024 by just a point or two for Trump to carry those counties, all 7 swing states and, ultimately, the election. They judged, correctly, that men - men of color and white - would be turned off enough by the "pro-trans" Harris that they voted for Trump, or didn't vote at all.

Either way, mission accomplished.

I'm a lot more pragmatic than you're giving me credit for.

What I see from you now though is objection to discussing the weaknesses and failures of the Democratic Party.

While I do agree that in the poll booth we need to vote against republicans. I'd rather go into the poll booth wanting to vote for the democrats.

That feeling has only existed once for me, Obama 2008, with his message of hope and change. Admittedly I was in my early 20s and fell for the propaganda.

But ever since then voting is simply an exercise not an opportunity.

Clown says, "What I see from you now though is objection to discussing the weaknesses and failures of the Democratic Party."

Ya think, Clown?

Yeah. Funny thing about the political status of the USA in late April, 2026:

The only reason to "discuss" the weaknesses and failures of the Democratic Party, at this time, is to weaken the Democratic Party.

And who benefits from a weakened Democratic Party?

The Republicans (see: zero-sum game).

And who loses from a weakened Democratic Party?

I'd argue, it is the American people who lose from a weakened Democratic Party.

But, apparently, to you (and others here), tearing down the Democratic Party is a fun game. You seem to salivate over the idea of damaging the only counter to the Republican Party.

Meanwhile, those on the right side of the aisle cheer you (and the others here) on, beside themselves over the stroke of good luck you're giving them by doing some of the heavy lifting (damning the Democratic Party) while they expend zero energy doing so.

And, as an added bonus, your posts become self-fulfilling prophecy for Democrats and made-for-television ads for Republicans.

"The DNC never once supported Mamdani."

Liar:

AI Overview
Yes, DNC Chair Ken Martin endorsed Zohran Mamdani in October 2025 following his victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary. Martin stated that Democrats win "through addition" and encouraged support for the Democratic nominee, despite acknowledging disagreements with him on certain issues.

Key Details of the Endorsement:

DNC Chair Support: Ken Martin officially urged New Yorkers to vote for Mamdani in the general election, marking a high-level party endorsement.

Context: The endorsement aimed to unite the party behind the primary winner.

Mixed Reactions: While the DNC Chair and some progressives supported him, other top national Democrats, including Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, initially hesitated to publicly endorse him, according to reports in September 2025.

Mamdani also secured support from various local Democratic organizations, including the Manhattan Democratic Party, as reported in July 2025.

Communist = From each according to his ability to each according to his needs.

Why, that's parenthood!

From each according to his ability (the parent) to each according to his needs (the child).

Thank you for attending today's TED Talk!

"Blindly vote for democrats. Again won't happen."

Oh?

So, you're okay with Republicans winning.

Noted, Clown.

The Democratic Party is filled with America hating Communists
#57 | POSTED BY BULLBRINGER

Sure, why not.

But. For the sake of discussion.

Who are these communists and how many are hiding under your bed right now?

Once again, Clown, come November, if it is Steyer versus Hilton, who are you going to vote for?

Is the DNC?

Based on their recent history in NYC, all signs point to yes.

Here's what you're not understanding.

California doesn't want Steyer.

The DNC shouldn't want a corporate billionaire in charge of California either.

The DNC should be supporting Becerra. Like the citizens are.

It's April. The election is in November.

The Republican Party is already the billionaire party.

The Democratic Party needs to stand for Americans.

It's crazy you support corporate ownership of America.

#63 People are done with democrats like Schumer and Jeffries.

"People"?

The only "people" who matter in this (complex) equation are, the voters of NYS (Schumer), the voters of NY-8th CD, and the members of the Democratic caucuses in the Senate and House (respectively).

I can't stand either one, and long for the day they are at least retired from their leadership positions, if not their seat themselves (YEAH AOC v Schumer!!!)

But, so long as our common opponent is Trump/the Republicans (who, it should be noted, you seem incapable of criticizing), then I keep my eye on the prize.

You clearly do not, so giving aid and comfort to the enemy is your forte. Noted.

"Harris should not run in 2028. Neither should Newsom."

Isn't that the truth, Clown!

She should just retire, gracefully, and Newsom handled in the primaries.

Binary choice, Clown: Come November, if it is Steyer versus Hilton, who are you going to vote for?

#69 "California doesn't want Steyer."

No. You don't want Steyer.

Fair enough.

Get back to me when the votes have been counted as to what California does and does not want.

Binary choice

It's far from binary.

#73 | Posted by ClownShack at 2026-04-20 11:04 PM | Reply

So, once again, Clown: Come November, if it is Steyer versus Hilton, who are you going to vote for?

If I were a voter in California, I would definitely vote for Becerra, from all that I have read. And I would be happy in doing so.

But, if Becerra didn't make it through the primary, and my choice in November was Steyer versus Hilton, I would vote for Steyer, no question whatsoever.

Why can't you be that honest, Clown?

" When did Dems ever advocate for a classless society and the end of private property???

Oh, wait ... is this just ANOTHER instance where you're using a word you don't understand?!?"

Wake me up when you EVER call out absurd "Nazi" comparisons.

Look at you, championing selling America to the billionaires.

Isn't it great.

They're our betters, after all.

#73 Steyer versus Hilton in November (hypothetical) isn't binary?

Or are you referencing throwing away your vote by writing in Mickey Mouse?

That'll show 'em!

Right, Clown!

Come November

Come June I'm voting Becerra, and so is everyone else who doesn't want a billionaire from New York governing California like it's a business they can streamline and maximize profits for shareholders.

By championing Democrats over Republicans?

That's your anti-diving rod, Clown?

Wouldn't Jill Stein have been wittier?

You are, after all, having a great time trolling, right?

You're the counter part to the MAGAt.

Deplorable in your own way.

The die hard democrat who unwittingly let corporate America take over the party.

Blindly voting for whatever they tell you to. Regardless.

No wonder billionaires don't have any worries.

A majority of Americans believe voting is binary, more and more people are becoming too afraid to do anything other than blindly vote for their team.

What else can anyone do?

Seriously, Clown:

Come November, if it is Steyer versus Hilton, who are you going to vote for?

I already said that if I lived in California I would gladly vote for Becerra in June.

But, if it isn't Becerra on the ballot in November, then my vote would go to Steyer.

You ? ? ? ?

Clownshack,

What A Friend is advocating is pragmatic voting. Both political parties suck IMO. Where A Friend seems to fail is his attempt at persuasion is over-selling the Democrat brand. I would love for a couple of other political parties to become viable in this country to broaden our choices. But the sad reality is we are a two party system. From that standpoint what he's advocating is, at the very least, support the lesser of two evils, if you view both parties as crappy (like I do). He's not advocating blind subservience, but is just operating under the flawed system that we live under. In short, he's accepted reality and seeks the best achievable outcome.

I do see where you are coming from though. On 2016 I was so disgusted with our two choices that I voted 3rd party for POTUS. But my chosen candidate had a zero percent chance of winning so did I throw my vote away? In a way I certainly did.

I think that is the message that A Friend is trying to drive home.

" Wake me up when you EVER call out absurd "Nazi" comparisons."

Right after Trump disbands his Gestapo.

But back to the point: why are you using words you don't understand?

"Communist" has a definition that includes a classless society and the end of private property. Exactly ZERO Dems have advocated as much. For that matter, ZERO Republicans as well.

Is it just because you crave attention? Or do you enjoy looking stupid?

#85 | Posted by Danforth at 2026-04-20 11:25 PM | Reply

Becerra will be on the ballot.

There's no reason to doubt this.

If democrats choose Steyer in June he'll win in November and I'll reaffirm my belief that this country is done.

People don't become billionaires because they care about others.

Capitalism is a winner take all system that's untenable.

"Blindly voting for whatever they tell you to. Regardless."

Do you have a definitive list of these "blind" people I'm supposed to vote for... regardless?

I only ask because whenever I'm voting in a primary, there doesn't seem to be any "DNC Approved" candidate sticker anywhere on the ballot.

Just the names of the Democratic candidates for the various election positions (mosquito control district, water control district, fire control district, city commissioner, mayor, county/parish commissioner/executive/judge, state representative, state senate, governor, US Senate, Congressperson and... every now and then, presidential primary/election.

Now, some are partisan, some are ostensibly non-partisan (wink-wink) and some are, actually, non-partisan.

But I've never seen a primary ballot where it is designated that this candidate or that candidate is "DNC Approved."

Do you have a definitive list of these "blind" people I'm supposed to vote for... regardless?

And, Clown, you still haven't answered the question:

Come November, if it is Steyer versus Hilton, who are you going to vote for?

#88 | Posted by A_Friend at 2026-04-20 11:36 PM | Reply

#84 Sorry, bell boi, I'm not selling the Democratic Party "brand" other than the fact that it is not the Republican Party.

Donald Trump, the Trump administration, the Republican Party, general MAGA sycophants and, interestingly enough, people just like you, make it so that selling the Democratic Party becomes irrelevant to November's outcome.

You are all doing the heavy lifting for us.

For which we will perhaps be grateful.

#84 In the Dictionary, under the word reality, you will find this entry:

" I'm not selling the Democratic Party "brand" other than the fact that it is not the Republican Party."

That's the problem with the Democratic Party right now. They don't stand for a whole lot and what they do stand for is unpopular with too much of the middle in this country. They used to be a party of the working class. They aren't any more and that is truly sad.
