... Jim Jordan is among the most famous names in this stretch of Ohio. The congressman and chair of the powerful House judiciary committee is considered among the most conservative and influential members in Congress, and is a longtime loyalist of Donald Trump. But a report released last month by Pogo Investigates, a nonprofit newsroom, highlighted the close ties between Jordan and a company profiting from the Trump administration's anti-immigration crackdown, which has sometimes been violent and even deadly. The report found that the American Liberty Foundation, a political action committee (Pac) tied to Jordan, last year received $250,000 in "dark money" payments from Geo Group, the Florida-headquartered company that runs dozens of detention centers on behalf of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) across the country. The money transfer came 11 days after the passing of the president's One Big Beautiful Bill Act last July, which saw the federal government's budget for ICE and other immigration enforcement efforts trebled to $170bn " an amount greater than the GDP of Morocco. ...

I'm shocked. A pol grifting to his benefit? Shocked, I tell you. Perhaps some future historian will at long last discover just how corrupt this administration is/was.

Yeah, time will tell, but the ugly of this second Trump administration sure does seem to be worse than that of the Nixon administration, and Nixon and Kissinger, it turns out, in order to get into the White House, deliberately tanked the 1968 Peace Talks with North Vietnam, so they could get elected in the chaos. Thousands of American troops died from that point on, and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people died. Something about the Republican Party and national politics has it allied with the darkest and the deadliest.

There will certainly be names not in Der Dotard's phone book of pardons. One can hope that freaks like Gym Jordan will be left off, squirming in the knowledge taht someone is coming for him...

Ah, the perks of Citizens United. So good for the country. If we just could get a few more tax breaks and more money in politics things may finally start working for the people.

Why does Rep Jordan seem to have such a gross past, yet still seem to be quite popular with the MAGA cult?

How is it that Ohio, the state that has been the home to more presidents than any other can also be home to some of the mist extreme MAGA legislators like Jim Jordan and VP Vance?

And Ohio is the home to both the NFL and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.

... "Ohio" is a 1970 protest song composed by Neil Young in reaction to the Kent State shootings, and performed by the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young quartet. The incident took place on May 4, 1970 and became a sociopolitical symbolization during the Vietnam War. The sequence of events led to a nationwide anti-establishment student strike, forcing hundreds of colleges and universities to close. The song was recorded a mere 17 days after the incident and, according to the recording engineer Bill Halverson, was done in (at most) 3 takes "with live vocal and live harmonies and everybody chiming in". Side Note: Due to its "anti-war" and "anti-establishment" sentiments, the song was banned from some AM playlists in the United States. [Chorus] Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin' We're finally on our own This summer I hear the drummin' Four dead in Ohio [Verse] Gotta get down to it Soldiers are gunning us down Should have been done long ago What if you knew her and Found her dead on the ground? How can you run when you know? ...
