... A report from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University found that 62 percent of adults aged 18-29 said that the design and structure of our nation's government needs significant changes, no matter which party is elected. Additionally, 58 percent said the party they identify with needs to dramatically change. The study's conclusions pointed out that older generations have longer histories with politics (duh) and have lived through a mix of both steady and unstable leadership. They have been able to ground themselves in the political framework produced by prominent leaders, like former Presidents Reagan and Obama, the study cites. Gen Z, in contrast, grew up or continues to grow up through volatility with fewer frames of political reference, which makes it harder to feel anchored by today's politicians and system overall. ...

I enjoy reading Gaslighter think this means anything, any consensus on what the "change" should be?
GenZ : "I want socialism, I'll trade a carpenters, and plumbers work to build me a house, and in return I'll teach his kids about Marx and Lenin."

Explain how Capitalism, as currently practiced here, makes any sense for them. The greedy bastards have done more to sell Socialism than Bernie on any number of soapboxes could.

When you talk about "communism", are you talking about the type if communism where the government has ownership in the prominent businesses in major industries?
Like how the current administration is buying up semiconductor businesses?

The DSA platform describes what?
After you read their platform, describe that government when they keep winning primaries.
Voters will have to decide which laws and the Constitution they want.
Labels means nothing. How they represent does.
Don't want MAGA? Fine. Do you want DSA?

@#8 ... The DSA platform describes what? ...
As I have stated in prior comments, I remain to be convinced that the DSA platform is the new target for Democrats.
Only that DSA-friendly candidates seems to be more of the views of ~throw the bums out.~
So, in my view, it is less of an endorsement of the DSA, and more of a need for change within the Democratic Party.
Sadly, imo, the DNC has not been at all responsive to this change of tide ...

Yeah.
But if they vote MAGA, they are voting against the Constitution and in favor of adulation of an autocrat.

"Go chug a gallon of Drano."
Does Drano actually come in 1 gallon bottles? Myself, I prefer the MAGA bleach treatment. After the last desperate gurgle their inner esophagus becomes a nice, clean, klanrobe white.

It seems that a singular faction of one particular party is actually serious about completely removing foreign interference from American foreign policy; interference that also greatly influences domestic policy, especially when it comes to law enforcement, civil rights and elements currently involved in the construction of a panoptic surveillance state. I'll gladly vote for someone representing that faction.

I do not fully agree.
imo, we should work with our Allies to determine, in part, how we interact with the world. That's a big part of having Allies.
Having said that, I'll also add, which allies?
Well, of late, Israel and PM Netyanahu seem to be more of a negative than a positive to achieving that end aim.
But our European Allies? And Canada?
I mean really. Why the apparent sustained effort of late to push them away?

Explain what would be better. There is no circumstance where a USan just gets to write poetry or ski or whatever, and get paid a lot to do it. Unless they are able to monetize those skills.
And if you think that a USan moving to Norway or Finland would be able to do that there, you're wrong. While those countries would probably happily allow them to work as an ordinary resident, they would not be citizens. And likely never would be. I can't say for sure, but I don't think an OR cab driver or Barista would be better off in the US or a Scandinavian country.

Maybe, but if we circle back to the DSA platform, isn't that way worse? Constitutionally?

Exactly, Zed. Any semblance of meritocracy in federal govt has devolved into a complete kakistocracy with MAGA. And that is why the MAGAts so scared of democratic socialism. If electing democratic socialists is the only way to purge the current federal level kakistocracy then so be it.

-This is particularly true of Gen Z, which polls suggest feels like it is set to inherit a political system riddled with partisan hostility and congressional gridlock.
That describes Gen X and boomers at the same time
