In Michigan, the epitome of a battleground state, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed (49%) has opened up a lead over Republican Mike Rogers (42%) among likely voters amid signs that the state's Democratic base has unified behind him, and that discouraged Republicans are checking out.

"Texas, which hasn't elected a Democrat in a statewide race in three decades, gives Democrat James Talarico (49%) a narrow lead over Republican Ken Paxton (43%) among likely voters. Talarico's bid benefits from deeply negative impressions of Paxton, as well as sizable support among the Black, Latino and Asian voters in the state who voted for Trump in 2024.

Early on, Maine was widely viewed as one of Democrats' best pickup opportunities this cycle, with Sen. Susan Collins the only Republican up for reelection in a state that voted Democratic in 2024.

But the race has remained a tight contest: The new poll of likely voters finds no clear leader between Collins (45%) and her Democratic challenger Troy Jackson (49%), even as the race has become squarely a referendum on Collins.

And in deep-red Kansas, there is no clear leader between Democrat Adam Hamilton (49%) and Republican Sen. Roger Marshall (45%), even as likely voters there say they would prefer Republicans to control the Senate.

Voters here largely view Marshall unfavorably and say their choices are about Marshall more so than Hamilton."

;;

Dems would need to win 4 seats to take the Senate, which seems iffy.

Musk is spending millions in TX for the Pedo Protector there, and Kansas?

If we're really lucky, we might not be in the old Kansas anymore, Todo.

It sounds like the GOP's real problem is that their candidates are thieves and criminals, not that the Dems are so popular, which to me doesn't bode well given the theory of the devil you know vs the devil you don't voting; a lot of people are likely to want to keep the devil they know.

That's the direction the ads are going now....."If you elect Hamilton...the extreme left wins....is that what you want???"

LOL

Actually it's boiled down to the "pedo protector" contest here in Kansas.

Both sides are accusing the other of protecting pedos.

Even pedo 47 admits Marshall is a shylock.

Same thing James Carville has been telling them.

I'm so sick of the campaign ads here in Kansas. They about ready to drive one to start drinking,

We'll know in 5 days, pending Trump's post-election barrage of lawsuits or any other mind-blowing measures Trump, Stephen Miller or Speaker Johnson can think of to interfere with results that reduce his power thus enabling the release of the VIP pedophiles in the Epstein files.

My guess is the U.S. Supreme Court is already busy searching 100 years of legislative loopholes to protect Trump and his oligarch friends who partook of Epstein's "afternoon delights."

Barely.

Let me put it this way

Does taking Mr. Winky out for his routine walk on Epstein's island make a man a pedophile?

Normally, one sees a healthy election competition and one can say...just how democracy works.
In this case, nothing is normal when fascists are working to take over the country the way they took over Russia.
All they have to do is bankrupt America with insane foreign wars, and then kill FDR's safety net.

Doesn't matter unless so many voters get to the polls and vote that Toad Blanche and the DOJ thieves cannot steal the election because of the overwhelming defeat of as many MAGA GOP candidates as possible...

Stop it with the fascist crap.

Both sides are pouring hundreds of millions into these 4 races. The vast majority of it from out of state and wealthy donors.

Nobody seems to be bitching about that right now.

But whining about "fascism" at the same time as if they understand what it means.

"Stop it with the fascist crap."

The Fifth Circuit Court has allowed indefinite detention with no charges filed.

Is that fascism, or is calling that fascism the kind of crap that needs to stop?

Can't wait for your nuanced, middle of the road answer!

BONUS: When fascists took power in Germany, did they do it legally or illegally?

No. This is something different.
But it's just like a fascist to gaslight.

Background
In February 2026, a Fifth Circuit panel upheld ICE's reading of immigration law, which required detention without a bond hearing. Other federal judges have since found that such a policy constitutes a violation of the detainee's right to due process. Over the past year, judges have ruled against ICE's policy of detaining without bond in over 21,150 cases. The Fifth Circuit's decision now renders that approach invalid, according to the New Republic.

winning is everything. Surprise...nobody is bitching about the $85 million spent so far on one senate race in Kansas....I would imagine 80% of from out of state.

Because winning the seat is what matters.

Why complain at this point? Republicans are the ones that want money to own our politicians. Change campaign finance laws like the Dems want. Why wouldnt they use any tactics the GOP does against them? I never took you for such a hypocrite.

I'm not complaining. I'm pointing out the lack of complaining on your part.

I'm calling you the hypocrite.

You need to believe one side wants to change it......believe it if you need to.

I'll believe it when it happens. Just because one side absolutely wants to own politicians doesn't necessarily mean the other side wants to fix that problem.

#25 | Posted by eberly at 2026-10-30 11:33 AM | Reply

"doesn't necessarily mean the other side wants to fix that problem." #25 | Posted by eberly

No, but writing bills you try to get passed does mean you are against it. Do you think all Dems voted to get rid of gerrymandering just because they knew it wouldnt pass the GOP? Is that the doubt you have? Because I believe one side would let it go and that the Dems have continued to fight the Citizens United decision with amendments and other acts, the "disclose" act is one of those. I am not a hypocrite and only this year have I ever voted straight party ticket, no matter who, due to anger. I have complained about both sides using these tactics but I understand fighting back. I am tired of the Dems being wimps and "going high when they go low", show me you will fight for me and not the billionaires.

#26 | Posted by justagirl_idaho at 2026-10-30 11:43 AM | Reply

and to be fair to the democratic party.....I'm not blaming the party for what voters don't really care about.

which is where the real problem lies.

Ask Russ Feingold (and John McCain if he were alive) how the voters responded to their most significant legislative achievement.....the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act.

Voters whine about campaign finance, Citizens United, etc....but they're full of shit for the most part.

"Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act" -- Eberly

And how much of that has been manipulated in the years since? It has been chopped and changed many times in the 24 years since it passed, including by Citizens United. Are you playing games with me, you cant be serious...

Doesn't necessarily preclude either.

What an absolute nothing of a comment.

-I am tired of the Dems being wimps

The Dems understand who their voters are and they understand how campaigns are funded.

I wish all democratic party candidates/incumbents could run on issues and campaign like Obama did.......raise lots of money in smaller increments....but it doesn't work like that very often.

When the rubber meets the road, Kamala Harris accepted 7 figure and 8 figure donations from more billionaires than Trump did. Trump just had 1 donor with a deeper pocket.

And I don't think you're a hypocrite....I was referring to many others....but you introduced the term so I used it.

Yeah, and McCain helped put multiple members on the Supreme court that passed CU.

so it's kind of hard to point fingers since Feingold got voted out not all that long after that and couldn't manage to get his seat back. The Patriot Act vote didn't help him, IMO.

-Are you playing games with me,

in order to do that, I would attempt to fool you or confuse you.

where am I doing either?

You can disagree but I believe the voters aren't interested in making material changes to how campaigns are financed. As a result, their representatives aren't likely to move faster than they want.

I'll again refer you to McCain-Feingold.......those guys were ahead of it with that. But the SCOTUS dismantled it as well as other efforts which indicates the country didn't really want it.

I'll embrace all of the changes you'd like to see implemented....no need to sell me on them. I'm in.......
